Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft dosage depression

zoloft

Avatar f tn My doctor just put me on 100 mg of zoloft for anxitey/stress/depression. I really dont know if i need that high of a dosage. He also told me when it was time to get off of them that i could just stop taking them and i would be fine? I have always herd that you need to gradually do it expecially since i am on 100 mg. Does anyone know anything about this?
Avatar m tn Breathe is right, or say STOP! Put cold ice cubes in your hands, and use clay in your hands to hold like a stress ball. Pray as well.
Avatar m tn I've been taking zoloft for more than ten years, my question is does zoloft stop working after so many years? Pls help i've been in bad shape for quite a while, and I need answers!
Avatar f tn Also I have been taking a trazodone 50 mg at night and it really was a struggle to sleep when it usually knocks me out. Is it the Zoloft dosage increase?
Avatar f tn I'm currently taking zoloft at a dose of 200mg daily, in the morning. My doctor's instructions were to go all the way up to the maximum dose of zoloft because he believes that my combination of depression, anxiety, PTSD and bulimia might simply be treatment resistant. I've been on zoloft twice before, but never at a dose any higher than 150mg. I've been on the 200mg dose of zoloft for five weeks now, and though I had initial side effects they did go away.
Avatar n tn The typical dosage range for Zoloft is between 50 to 200 Mgs a day. The dosage depends on the person. Each of us has different levels at which any given AD medication may be effective. The maximum effective dosage for Zoloft is 200Mgs a day. That simply means that regardless of the patient that any more than 200 Mgs a day will not produce a response if less than 200 day has failed to produce a response. I can understand your concern and it is VERY justified.
Avatar n tn If the doctor prescribed that dosage, then I would trust him/her. Zoloft is typically prescribed from 50-200mg, so your son is taking a 'normal' dosage in my opinion. I was on Zoloft a couple of years ago and had no major problems coming off of it. Just ensure when it is time to come off the medication work with your doctor and taper down slowly.
Avatar f tn I'm on zoloft and I'm 30 weeks pregnant and everything is fine
Avatar m tn Hey everyone I was hoping for some feedback from anyone with xperience with zoloft. I have suffered from extreme anxiety/ panic disoder and depression for most of my life.(I'm 24 years old) it went untreated for a while. I finally found a good DR. about a year and a half ago. I have been on zoloft and perfectly stable for 18 months. It really changed my life my anxiety was almost non existent and depression was literally absent.
Avatar m tn My family MD started me on Lexapro and after six weeks my depression was getting much worse. He referred me to a psychiatrist who switched me to zoloft. After five weeks, my depression and anxiety seemed to be a little better and then a few hours ago, I had a meaningless thought about my children and WHAM, Huge anxiety attack. I was on zoloft a while back for years. It controlled my anxiety and depression very well then. I was surprised by the anxiety attack.
Avatar f tn I have a new doctor now (other one retired) and because I have some aches and arthritis, he took me off Zoloft and put me on Cymbalta which helped with pains. I have never been the same as when on Zoloft. The depression freeze of not wanting to get up, go out and do a thing has not left me. I went up in dose of Cymbalta to 120 mg/day from 60 and still it didn't help. I went back to Zoloft and started hurting like the flu. All aches and pains came back bigger than ever.
Avatar f tn Ooops, I was going to briefly touch on the Sulpiride. This medication is not used here in the US, so I don't have any first hand experience with it, but I know it is an anti-psychotic medication. Again,in MY opinion...I don't care for the use of antipsychotic meds in some situations. I think they are being overly prescribed as an adjunct therapy before other options are explored.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed Zoloft for major depression and Xanax for anxiety. I don't want to take Zoloft anymore. I quit cold turkey 10 days ago. Lately when exercising, I have noticed pronounced fatigue and some light-headedness. I suppose this is due to stopping the Zoloft without weaning myself from taking this medication. Will these symptoms ease up or stop soon? I still take the Xanax.
1773104 tn?1314155711 For me, I did notice an uptick in my anxiety whenever I started, stopped or adjusted the dosage of an SSRI like Zoloft. I think it was probably two-fold. While I had some symptoms, many of them were probably magnified because I was already anxious about taking Zoloft. I already had been dealing with anxiety and whenever I felt any symptom out of the ordinary, I attributed it to the medicaiton when in fact the two were probably not related at all.
11025355 tn?1416995557 I had been on Zoloft for a long time when I switched to Lexapro, and within a few months, after giving it a good try, I was SO glad to get back on my Zoloft. So, you COULD ask her if you could try another antidepressant, like Zoloft, or whatever else she thinks is good. You can say you heard from someone you know that they liked Zoloft better than Lexapro because of side effects. Each person is different in how they handle drugs and types of drugs. Hope this helps.
5658764 tn?1371825008 I initially started on Zoloft for extreme anxiety and depression that was probably triggered by undiagnosed sleep apnea. I started on 12.5 due to drug sensitivity and worked my way up to 25 milligrams and felt great for about 4 months and than the anxiety and depression came back. I have several questions. When I get anxiety and depression I get fatigued, really fatigued with muscle weakness. Is this normal? My doctor upped my Zoloft to 50 milligrams. I just went up to another 12.
Avatar n tn I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness. Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try. The first day was wonderful - I was able to slow down and focus and much of the frantic feelings I normall have were gone.
Avatar f tn I tried Zoloft when I was a teenager for depression and sleep issues. It did great for the sleep issue. Clonopin I have not taken. But have not heard anything good. I did not like Paxil at all as a female, It killed all want and desire. I personally like Lexapro. It manages both depression and anxiety. Like most other RX's it take 3 to 6 weeks to get fully in your system. Mean while xanax during the 3 to 6 period of time. What I judge a medication on is this: Am I groggy?
