I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness.
Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.

Over the past 4 months, I have tried zoloft, lexapro, celexa, buspar, and now Zoloft again. I was given the 25mg tabs and told to take half (12.5) due to my body is apparently very sensitive to these type of meds. I was taking it at night, but i could not fall asleep. I would be dog tired, but couldnt flip the switch.
I have medication and eating concerns. I've gained 10 pounds in 3 months, eating candy bars and Ben and Jerry's icecream every night. I also have high cholesterol and triglycerides. I was stress eating, because I moved across country to a new state. I'm trying to break the habit and become a vegan. But, I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's again tonight. My dad, uncle and aunt are now all vegans. They are suggesting this as an option for me. I want to try it.
I have been on 50mg of zoloft for 15 years. I am 54 years old and my weight is at an all time high and I think the drug has stedily added to this for years. I am trying to waen myself off of the drug by myself but I think I need some help. I am down to 25mg every other day.I am feeling some dizziness, numbness in my face, extreme tiredness and very teary though not all at the same time.
s a great drug. I took Lexapro for eight years, until it recently stopped working, and then went on Zoloft, and now I'm back on the Lexapro. I have a very hard time tolerating most drugs, but Lexapro never caused me any side effects, except maybe some initial tiredness. I also felt naseaus on Zoloft, but like I said, Lexapro was great.
I am not an expert but I can give you a few suggestions. As always ck with your dr. I would try the med at night. Give it a chance. You won't know if it makes your insomnia worse until you try. You should not need to sleep your day away and this will definetly interfere with school. If taking it at night doesn't help with your daytime tiredness and pm insomnia, it is likely that you are on too high of a dose. Some people are more sensitive than others when it comes to meds.
m fearful of trying it again since my chief complaint is crushing tiredness and that may be a side effect of the medicine. Then again, myabe it would solve the underlying depression or what not and I would be less tired...? What do you think I should try - give Zoloft another chance (I mean, hell, I'm tired all the time anyway) or something else (but what will they do to me, yikes??)?
I am currently taking 75mg of Effexor XR at bedtime. It makes me SO tired during the day I can hardly be productive in anyway. I have read that Effexor ONLY acts as an SNRI at 150mg's and above. Anything below- Effexor is just an SSRI.
I got had to get off of Zoloft because of how tired it made me.
Is it possible that by talking with my doctor to increase my does to 150 mg; would the tiredness decrease?
I have been on .5mg Klonopin, 100mg Zoloft and 15mg Remeron for 3 weeks now for severe anxiety and depression, but I am not feeling any better. I wake up with severe anxiety (pain in my stomach) that won't go away no matter what I do. I don't start feeling semi normal until around 11 am. I am off work on medical leave because I just could not function at work. I am always tired, no motivation and just about everything makes me anxious.
The tiredness eventually went away, yes. I'd say after the first few months. The Lexapro just stopped working for me, so I tried Zoloft, but that didn't help at all and gave me tremors. So, now I'm back on the Lexapro and it seems to be helping again. I just started taking mine before bed beginning today. I notice that when I take it in the morning, within an hour or two I can go back to sleep. So, today I held off and I just took it a while ago.
I was on 50mg of zoloft and wanted to be off meds for my pregnancy. I am now 32 weeks and in the past few day all of my anxiety and depression resurfaced.
Before I was preg I was prescribed 100mg of zoloft but only took 50 by breaking them in half as prescribed by the doc.
He now has given me 50mg of zoloft and has directed me to start on 25mg to see how I do with that so I break those in half as well.
As long as your doc says its ok you can do it and don't be scared to take the meds.
Lexapro and Zoloft are in the same class of medications known as SSRIs, which are usually prescribed long term to help treat depression and/or anxiety. Xananx is a benzo which is prescribed as needed usually on a short term basis because it can become extremely addictive in my opinion. In my experience both classes of medication are good at what they are designed for.
As to what medication is best for you, we all react and prefer different types of medication in my opinion...
I have been having really bad anxiety on and off. The Dr. gave me Zoloft and it seems to have helped with my anxiety. But as it is I have a very hard time getting restful sleep. When I do sleep I have ongoing dreams and my mind doesn't get any rest. Now with the Zoloft my sleep is much less restful. Any suggestions?
