Zoloft and nicotine

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and nicotine

zoloft

But, the depression is much more severe this time arounf. Has anyone else had this issue with nicotine withdrawals and being BP? I really need some answers here, I'm pretty beat up.
Hi everybody, Im a 32 male and ive been smoking for years and ive had a past addiction with marijuana and cocaine. Ive been clean from the coke and weed for over two years. Last october I started to take percocet 3 to 4 days out of the week. I also forgot to mention I suffer from OCD and i am taking klonopin and luvox. Well back to the percocet, I would be taking double the recommended dosage in these days sometimes more or less. In the days I was not taking them I would smoke a half a pack.
I've always felt vulnerable with the addiction to nicotine, but now have serious evidence that there is damage already done and ongoing damage, until I can give up the foul things. My doctor suggested trying Welbutrin, and I have begun the switch. One more dose of zoloft and I'm there. My question is that, is it really nessicary to take more than 150 mg of Welbutrin when I took 75 mg of zoloft? I would love to not add more medicines to my regimine.
Because of this I became fearful and five months ago began having extreme anxiety as I stated. I went to see a psychiatrist who placed me on Xanax and Zoloft. About three weeks into the Zoloft I noted my hands would shake, these tremors I notice are more apparent when I am doing things with my hands, when I lay my hands flat they do not shake at all, however when I hold my hands up lets say rest the wrist on a flat surface and lift the fingers they shake.
5 mg of benicar, and alprazolam 0.5 milligrams 3 times a day, and mirtazpine 30 mg along with 500 mg magnesium and 3 mg melatonin to sleep. She doesn't take the mirtazpine every day. Otherwise she takes naproxine, extra strength tylenol, occasional cemetidine, and generic allergy pills, which make her shaky so only when she's desperate. About 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day also. She smokes a pack a day right now. I was thinking chantix which is how I quit.
I do have the anexity which has been kept in check for years with zanax at night .5, have not had to increase and it does help me sleep. Was on wellbrutrin and zoloft unitl the body wouldnt take it anymore. Each drug that is tried, ie right now the vitamin D, I have to wait to see if it works. I think the thyroid might be a relook. A classic symptoms I get is the sweats throughout the day and night but since that started with treatment and just didnt end.
I have also taken Zoloft and did not have this problem but weight gain was crazy- I gained 25 lbs and looked like a blimp. As for Lexapro i would not take it.
There have been many times I was able to stop and I only take them when I need to, but I hate to be taking anything! And it's been the same 3-4 days since I've stopped the nicotine and the marijuana. You can imagine why I'm a wreck. I'm a mom to 3 very young kids and I'm doing everything I can to be clean. My real questions are this: 1. How do I completely stop the narcotic pain meds if I actually have severe pain I need them for? 2.
Today morning, my parents woke me up with a shout, hence causing a panic attack and opened up my bag and showed me the nicotine chewing gums i had to try to kick smoking. I am now completely depressed and many negative thoughts are coming in my mind. The least they could do is try to comfort me. I wish i was never born. A needle is constantly pricking me in the head and it is not bearable. I am feeling numb.
I've read some literature that has spoken to the fact that smoking sometimes hides unknown mental illnesses and that nicotine at times, acts as a mild anti-depressant, but never in my wildest imagination that I thought quitting smoking would lead me into such a sad state. When I tried to quit again last month, I saw the same development of symptoms of anxiety.
5 mg of Klonopin taken 3 times a day and 100 mg of Zoloft...to slow me and my anxiety down...this has helped some....most of all I had to quit worrying about my heart and stop taking my BP and pulse multiple times over. I had to learn to let it be whatever it wants to be (high low, and everything in between...whether it seems normal or not to me)...even if it is uncomfortable...this has smoothed things out a bit. But a lot is easier said than done and each day seems a struggle to me.
Hi i'm 21 and I had my first panic attack the other day out of no where and wanted to call 911 until I started reading about panic attacks and realized I had all the symptoms of one. The next couple days my chest hurt real bad and I had a lot of anxiety which I never had had before. I couldn't stop thinking about my breathing and my chest. I went to the doctor and of course he said everything was fine it was just anxiety and prescribed me xanax.
I belly laughed outloud when she said she'd never heard of anyone robbing a pharmacy for zoloft or paxil. (so true, so true) And her advise about the psych dr was GREAT. One last thing, I've noticed..... there are two diagnoses that MANY addicts have been given: bipolar.......AND.....fibromyalgia. This greatly interests me and is worthy of more understanding on my part.... particularly since I've been told both those things about myself as well. I probably didn't help you.....
of holter monitors and the only thing they have picked up is a short bout of v-tach, some PVC's, some PAC's and some short runs of tachycardia. I was admited to the hospital after they picked up the run on v-tach and had they were going to do an ablation. During the study they could not make my heart go into v-tach so they stopped and that was the end of that. I have since gone for another "failed ablation" because of my insistance that there is something wrong with my heart.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
My heart was pounding and I became lightheaded. dizzy, and hot. I grabbed some water and walked around my house to calm down and my heart started racing probably like 130 to 140 and I did some breathing exercises to calm down. After about 5 or so minutes my heart rate was normal, but I was shaking and cold and felt sick to my stomach. I wasn't able to go back to sleep because when I laid down, I got hot and lightheaded again.
i was taking sertraline (zoloft) and didnt find it effective. i stopped taking it and now im trying to shake the last bit of this anxiety stuff off. meds can be good if you are in really deep anxiety though, only use them temproarily (or at least thats what i say) until you can conquer these panic attacks. having scientific reassurance helps a lot. since you've been tested for multiple things and show up fine, be relieved, that's perfect.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
Do you take any medications ? I had stomach and gas problems on celexa, zoloft, nexium , acifex and problems when taking alot of fish oil ? ConcernedLady do you know if its ok to combine licorice with protonix and pepsid ? I have read that licorice is an antidepressant also .
I had similar symptoms as you. I went to ears nose and throat doctors and to eye doctors (to look for the tumor that I thought was there...it wasn't..thank God) and Neurologists. I had CAT scans on my head and even begged my doctor to give me an MRI! (Took a while to find a doctor who would approve this!) IT WAS ALL DO TO DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY.....I truly believed that it was physical and it wasn't.
Also, I have quit smoking for 1 full month now and I noticed that the pains increased big time when I did this, my bodies little way of saying add nicotine now!!! I still have the pains but they are less and less and seem to come on more when I think about them. If I come up with any other explination I will let you all know. I did hear that B12 does work. I had my blood work done complete and all came back normal as well.
Pain over my left breast started just after I told a man I love very much that I was perfectly happy we were breaking up. Doctors now diagnose something called "broken heart syndrome" where people that suffer a sudden loss can have a heart attack because the brain releases adrenaline and other chemicals that stun the heart.
Antidepressants – Antidepressants can be helpful when social anxiety disorder is severe and debilitating. Three specific antidepressants—Paxil, Effexor, and Zoloft—have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of social phobia. Benzodiazepines – Benzodiazepines are fast-acting anti-anxiety medications. However, they are sedating and addictive, so they are typically prescribed only when other medications for social phobia have not worked.
I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Welbutrin (also called Zyban) is great for the quitting phase, but if you've already stopped, you might like one of the SSRIs, too. I'm on zoloft and like it, but there are a million choices you can discuss with your doc. Chin up~! It WILL get better!
In the meantime you might check with your doctor about the use of nicotine replacement therapy to slowly taper and give you relief of symptoms. Congratulations on giving up smoking!
It's a special herb that is having an effect on serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitter and also have a stimulant adaptogen similar to nicotine and is way safer than Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin can lower the seizure threshold and can have nasty side effects. Wellbutrin action is with the norepinephrine ( adrenaline ) and dopamine neurotransmitter. This is why it is often used as a combo med with other SSRIs.
your just going down another crappy road. There wd can be pure hell. I was on zoloft for 10 years and when i stopped i had 3 months of my wife tieing my shoes cause i couldnt remember things plus a feeling i cant describe, much worse then opiate wd. If you never needed them then i would seriously consider letting your brain come back and toughen it out for a few months to see. If you just cant and have to go on something, low dose celexa or zoloft is your best bet imo.
What do they affect? I took Zoloft for almost a year and had blurry vision, shaking all over, and increased confusion, and memory loss. I finally asked my doctor to change from Zoloft to Lexipro, and have taken it for 2 months. The doctor was wise enough to make the transition slowly, but I felt suicidal the first 3 weeks on the Lexipro, and became obsessed with eating food that I know are not healthy...and couldn't stop.
, but they are totally anxiety related, whether on meds or not but I do know that people withdrawing have them more! My brother had them bad while withdrawing from Zoloft. I get them and I don't take meds, haven't for any lenght of time and haven't even had a Xanax since last December. I do notice they come on after being very anxious or hypervigilant to my symptoms or when concentrating too hard on a symptom.
