Zoloft and gaba

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and gaba

zoloft

Does anyone know how what Klonopin balances in the brain in the way of GABA and Seratonin vs Zoloft? Does Klonopin help ballance or just work at symptom level? What about Zoloft? I know that a treatment of Steroids used for allergic reaction can affect these and wondering if that might be behind my sudden onset of anxiety issues? Trying to figure out what is best route to take in way of treatment now? Would luv your input.
I used to be so happy and carefree and now i dont even want to start the day. I was just wondering if Zoloft(20mgs or less, i want a SMALL dose, really dont want addiction to be added on to this) might work for me? Anyone know side effects? Does it start working right when you take it?
My question relates to the nervousness that I get. I do take Zoloft daily 100mg. A friend had mentioned GABA Plus with Inositol and Niacinamide. I took 3 tabs the first night and I felt like they helped me sleep. I do take some in the morning and they seem to make me feel less nervous. Is this supplement something I should be worried about getting "hooked" on as well?
I have taken GABA for a few days w/ Zoloft 50mg. And I asked the homeopath about taking it w/ antidepressants and she told me that I should just take it a few hours apart from the zoloft. She told me since it was really just an amino acid that it shouldn't effect anything. I did discontinue taking it because I wasn't sure how it would be w/ xanax as well, as I have been on a combination of both. Hope this helps?
I guess I am a little nervous b/c I have been on things like Prozac and Zoloft in the past...and during my dx for Chiari...they kept trying to tell me it was all in my head so I guess I am a little afraid of going on an antidepressant (there are still some drs out there that think Chiari is an asymptomatic condition and that it is a stress disorder!!! Just crazy). I had a lot of side effects of those two AD I mentioned above so that worries me to.
My concern now is with the medication I'm currently taking, and possible Xanax addiction. I'm taking 150mg Zoloft and 3-4 .5 pills of the Xanax every day now. I've leveled off from 1.5 to 2 mgs a day on average for the last few months, and pushed myself not to go further. I'm still seeking employement, and trying to get my graduate degree, which is underlying stress, and I know if I stop the meds now, I feel I will be back to full force anxiety land.
Hi everyone, I am writing today in connection with zoloft withdrawal. It is horrible. I was put on zoloft, 200 mgs, and Klonopin, .15 mgs., 9 years ago. At the time I guess there was nothing else they could do. And I understand that. But.......to keep a person on them that long? And not explain what could happen? I finally decided to get off. It took me eight full months to get off of Klonopin. It was a nightnare.
Anyone tapered off zoloft before? How long does it for it to be out of your system once you have went down your last dose? I feel really horrible like I have had the flu and alot of numbness in the face. Hoping this doesn't last that long anyone that has been through this I would love your input!
I got off all and crashed. Doctor put me on Zoloft and Xanax. I felt AWFUL on Zoloft. Terrible flu-like symptoms going on and up and worse coming down and off. Two months AFTER being off Zoloft I continued to have withdrawal symptoms My last Zoloft dose, and I tapered down slowly, was 8-31-06. I then had to taper down and go off Xanax (last Xanax dose was yesterday, 12-14-06). Continuing headaches, twitches, flu-like symptoms. I have read that this is all withdrawal symptoms.
grin and bear it, in which case you might try some fish oil is healthy quantities; it is said to help with the brain zaps, or second, go back on the last dose of Zoloft at which you felt fine and taper off more slowly before fully switching to Effexor. A book called the Anti-Depressant Solution by Joseph Glanville offers helpful guidance on how to quit these meds.
On a positive note, they are keeping the anxiety down, but I know that Xanax is addictive and is a short term treatment drug, and theres no way to tell if the Zoloft itself is doing anything. What can I do about these memory lapses? And after hearing things about these meds causing brain damage, insanity, etc, I'm getting a little nervous. Please give me your imput on this. Thanks.
I would ultimately love to try a natural route as I feel the chemical changes in the brain with the drugs are detrimental. 1. Any advice on taking GABA and Valerian root? 2. Is there anything else natural that you suggest? I am currently on Zolfot 50mg. I briefly went up to 75, but have been on 50 for about 3 weeks. My eyes are playing tricks on me about 50-75 times a day. It's as if my eyes are shaken up in a snow globe, and I miss about 1/2 a second worth of information.
Hi, I suffer from anxiety/depression, and am currently on zoloft and klonopin. My doc has prescribed one anxiolytic after another, and each has caused some negative side-effect or the other. Now, he seems to be at a loss! I was wondering if someone here has taken Buspirone, and it has worked for him/her. Since it is not addictive, it seems to be a nice option, although it does say that patients who have been treated with Benzos respond poorly to it. Also, how about tandospirone?
Before I tried Wellbutrin, I went on the lowest dosage of Zoloft and felt so sleepy I couldn't get out of bed for 12 hours! All the health professionals I have spoken to are astounded by how little it takes for me to feel those types of effects. I just want to feel the initial great effects that I felt with Wellbutrin - the increased energy, better concentration, etc. And these other types of medication are really interfering.
Now and then the forum's attention turns to supplements, vitamins, herbal remedies and similar things to ingest, apply, insert or otherwise deploy in our efforts to deal with or get over panic and anxiety. Frequently, it all starts with questions like, "Will this work?," "Has anyone tried this?" Or with statements such as "I read (saw, heard) that (name of thing) can really help...
Hello there, I don't know if you are interested in why anxiety and cannabis can happen i studied both GABA ( and cannabinoid receptors and i found a strong link between cannabis and anxiety. Cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB 1) receptors are thought to be the most widely expressed G protein coupled receptors in the brain.
Well I was prescribed Zoloft and Ativan from my doctor. I have been taking the Zoloft since Friday but I've noticed it kind of makes me more anxious and nervous sometimes unless I combine the two. Is this just the beginning feelings of Zoloft and it will soon start to feel normal after a month or so? Or should I get another antidepressant?
I have been battling depression and anxiety ever since i was a teenager (I am now 31 years of age). After trying out Paxil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft over the last 5 years (always short term ) and disliking all of them, I have been on Effexor for the past year. I am taking 2 x 37.5 mg a day. Some side effects occured during this time, like increased sweating and sexual dysfunction, but all in all i was content and improved immensely. Also, seeing a therapist helps a lot.
I once took a GABA supplement, and I had severe involuntary eye contractions and my arms shot out uncontrollably...very scary. As for supplements and herbal medicine, are there any that may be helpful if a pharmeceutical grade was used? What about Native Remedies? A product called Pure Calm has lavender, lemon balm, & passsion flower & claims to help for anxiety and panic. They have Mind soothe that is supposed to help similar to antidepressants with fewer side effects??
Up until that stretch, I was continuing to exercise daily for 45 minutes. Until January (when I filed) I was taking Zoloft and decided to wean from that, which I did with some pretty amazing effects... All the positive I'd gained remained, and all the negative dissolved. Well, all except the one "negative" factor: Zoloft gave me the ability to not be hungover. For whatever reason I would have to have an 18-pack to feel even mildly ruined the next day.
I have constant grinding, popping, and cracking sounds in my joints all over my body, especially in my neck, very badly in my shoulders, my back, jaw, elbows, wrists, knees and hips. It does not usually hurt but my muscles and joints hurt and seem to be tense, weak and stiff. Can anxiety cause all of these CONSTANT symptoms? This problem is effecting my life and my relationships and I just want to feel normal and like my old self again.
yes xanax and alchol are a deadly mix... take it from me! I was prescribed xanax and zoloft about a month ago for anxioty and depression.... I was aware of the dangers of mixing xanax with alchol and considered my self a responsible adult. But as of last friday night 12/15/07 I didn't take the drug xanax mixed with alchol seriouly enough. I had taken 2/ .5 ml for a total of 1ml of xanax at aproximatly 10:00 pm that evening....

YOUR BRAIN ISN'T PRODUCING GABA-SEROTONINE. I'm on a treatment as we speak because I started having panick and anxiety attacks after an allergy treatment (Prednisone for 7 days). Thanks to this wonderful drug, my GABA and Serotonine levels decreased so I didn't have any "Brakes" as your brain starts to go out of sync. I would recommend anyone who has this symptoms to read "The Edge Effect", it explains everything in there. Good Luck everyone!
John's Wort just for depression, taurine for GABA, and eleuthero and ashwagandha for balancing the adrenals. In other words, a program, not just one herb. Now, you can try one herb, and it might just hit the spot. Homeopathy also helps some people. But it isn't as easy as saying, here, take this, it'll help. Only trial and error will determine if anything helps.
However when I started it, I had the same effects that i had when i tried Zoloft, So the doctor put me on Klonopin and it worked great. So I've been on that now for about a year, These past few weeks the Klonopin doesnt seem to work and wanted to be placed on something like Lexipro but maybe something different this way I would have the feelings it gave me when you first start these meds. Mind you the Klonopin i take is 0.5mgs 3-4 times a day. Today the doctor put me on Xanax 1mg 3 times a day.
It's not drugs at all--it's pills of amino acids that you take which are the building blocks your body needs to make serotonin and other chemicals that anti-depressants work with. You might also want to try GABA and/or L-Theanine. They have helped me a little bit when I take them together. There are really no negative side effects to these except they may make you a bit tired if you take a LOT. If you do go on medications, just do your research before you actually swallow anything.
Yes, these drugs are ALSO addictive substances and YES you won't feel amazing when you stop taking them. But quitting Ritalin or Zoloft or Clonazepam will be a cakewalk after you've been through opiate detox-- not only physically, but mentally, because you'll have the knowledge that OH MAN YOU GUYS I TOTALLY STOPPED USING OPIATES SO THERE'S NOTHING I CAN'T DO!
For your anxiety there some supplements you can try before using the popular anti-anxiety drugs prescribed. Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA), Passionflower, Kava, Seredyn and Valerian are all things you can look up at your local food supplements store. Note that physical activity will play a crucial role in your fight against depression and anxiety with all the hormones produced while doing physical activity. Relaxation techniques are also very effective.
i was taking sertraline (zoloft) and didnt find it effective. i stopped taking it and now im trying to shake the last bit of this anxiety stuff off. meds can be good if you are in really deep anxiety though, only use them temproarily (or at least thats what i say) until you can conquer these panic attacks. having scientific reassurance helps a lot. since you've been tested for multiple things and show up fine, be relieved, that's perfect.
