Zoloft and focalin

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and focalin

zoloft

5 in the morning and at noon and a whole .5mg at night, Zoloft 25mg once a day, focalin 5mg in am, and clonidine 1/2 tab x 2/day and 1 full .1mg at night. He was started on the Zoloft in April of 2006 with the hopes of getting him off of the Klonopin and treating the anxiety however what happened is he became more hyper but with the smaller dose seemed to be more at ease and so was left on half the original does 25mg. We moved to another city and I have a new doctor for him.
He recently had to go to the hospital for a severe bite in the hand. He is currently taking Focalin 5 Mg twice per day for the Hyperactivity and the doctor wants to try Zoloft starting at 12.5 MG this weekend. He has been unsuccessful due to tics, td, and sleep disturbance on med trials of all of the following other meds: Celexa, Prozac, Abilify, Risperdal, Strattera, Vyvanse, Methylin and Adderall. Any thoughts on what direction we should be going with him?

I STARTED WEINING HER OFF OF THEM YESTURDAY NOW THAT SHE GOES INTO VIOLENT RAGES AND I CANT EVEN TAKE A SHOWER WHEN IM ALONE WITH HER CAUSE I DONT KNOW WHAT SHE IS GOING TO DO.
hi ok i was put on concerta 36mg about 2 weeks ago and weened off of zoloft 200 mg and put on at the same time 10 now 20 mg of celexa. the first week i was feeling great!! was finally sleeping well, woke up energized and moods were stable. than this week i went down hill. i felt like i was on crack all day!! my brain was foggy, yet overstimulated. couldnt interpret what people were wanting from me. i heard them but just panic mode set in.
I have been worying a lot lately about the possible consequences of mixing alcohol and medication. From 2006 to mid 2010, I was taking the prescription medications Focalin, Zoloft, and from about 2008-2010, risperdal. What I am owrried about is that I would occasionally drink while I was taking these medicines, even though I knew it wasn't a good idea, I figured nothing bad would happen. My question is is there any risk of brain damage when these specific medications are combined with alcohol ?
The final medication we stopped with Concerta, which made me very angry all the time, caused violent actions against my family, made me gain wait, and gave me severe dark circles under my eyes, and also gave me severe depression. I went off of all medications for about a year, and then another doctor put me on Zoloft for the depression.
I do know of a child by the way who is taking Focalin RX 5mg and it does seem to work. He is only taking it during school and not on weekends, etc.
he has done very well with early intervention and specialized pre school however around 4 behavior became severe,,outbursts and DEFIANCE.. he is dx ADHD and ODD and I have put off meds for as long as possible.. He is extremely bossy, whines and basically has meltdowns all the time if he does not get his way.. He will NOT listen most of the time.. His tantrums get worse and worse.. We tried Focalin XR 5mg and we saw basically no results.. The Psychiatrist now suggested Risperdal .

The other 2 are Focalin and Desoxyn. Although Desoxyn is supposed to have the best CNS vs PNS activity, I can just imagine the song and dance I'd have to go through to get someone to prescribe it. So, I'm considering Focalin. My understanding is that methylphenidate has the least peripheral actions of the stimulants and that focalin contains only the active "d" isomer whereas Ritalin is a racemic mixture of "d and l".
5mg (same category as xanax), cymbalta 20mg, risperidone .25mg, and zoloft 50mg. I finally started dieting about 5 months ago and I have successfully lost 33 pounds so far. I thought that would help a lot with the anxiety, but alas, it has not. However, me and exercise are not friends at the moment :) and I think that I will take M4Y0U's advice and start getting in some exercise and see if that helps.
So glad you are choosing to join us. This is the place to be if you want off Tramadol. Lots of love, information and empathy here!
She is currently on Depakote, Seroquel, Clonodine, Focalin, and Zoloft. We have been to a neurologist and everything came back great. She was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital for children and we did not get any answers there either. They think she may be bipolar but they say she is too young to diagnose. I know something is going on with my daughter and it is so hard as a parent because I can not get the answers we need. Is there genetic testing out that can give us answers?
Referred to Specialist who thinks it's ADD as well. 12. Taken off Wellbutrin XL and put onto Focalin XL and Clonazepam 13. Felt no difference 14. Switched to Vyvanse along with the Clonazepam. It's been 4 weeks and I still feel no different. After all this I still feel the same as I did when I went in for all those tests 3-4 years ago. I also want to mention that I am taking Lunesta to help me sleep. This stuff is a joke. It DOES NOT make me tired.

Dunno if this will be received since the posts date back to Nov 2007. Hope genuine203 made it out ok. The following is just my opinion as a 30yo patient of 2 mos. who's been doing some light reading and is new to the world of psychiatric medicine/psychology altogether. Currently not on meds. From what I've concluded, the prescriptions work by effecting your neurotransmitter production.
i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff. however, over the last two years i have become increasingly aware of this awful stabbing pain that i get in my pelvic region. i will just be sitting down and it will come on so suddenly and harshly it makes me jump and cry out.
I am on 225 mg since Aug 2005 and have gained at least 20 lbs and gone up 2 sizes, I am sick about this and am tapering down as we speak!!
