Zofran vs phenergan

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran vs phenergan

zofran

I will be asking my doctors about this next time I see them. I have to take my medications, there is just no getting around that. I take iv. zofran 10 mg every 6 hours, phenergan 50 mg every 4 hours. I HAVE to them, if not I do throw up over 8-10 times a day. I could try to stop the antidepressants the Celexa and the Ambien, but my bipolar takes over, my insomnia kicks in, and I had some post pardum depression with Jack, that scares me. When I had Jack I wasn't sick.
Even at this moment, I'm on Zofran and Phenergan due to being so sick. I've gone through the recurrent miscarriage testing. I saw an RE after my OB did a basic work-up. I highly suggest that since that will give you more testing. Neither my RE nor OB think my FVL is the cause of my miscarriages. (And neither does the panel of specialists that my RE works with). Insulin resistance was discovered through testing with the RE. So I'm on a diabetic diet for the rest of my life.
My doc got them to do the prior approval for the zofran. Cleveland Clinic had said for me to be taken off phenergan (promethazine) because it was messing with my dysautonomia (see my comments in Christydrake's thread about what to ask the allergist about why that would be).
my main problem is the nausea, the doc gave me zofran im taking 3 times 4 mg, wich helps a little but i still hardly cant eat anything . my weight is dropping and i was very thin already before i started treatment. but when i stop what next? i know in some time i will die, so this fear is the only reason is still didnt quit. sometimes i think,it could be worse and maybe iam acting like a sissy. its just so hard to see iam soon just of bones and skin.
As they started getting worse I was with a different doc and she put me on 800mg motrin and 25mg phenergan, which works to stop the pain but knocks me out for a day or more. I was a stay at home mom so I rolled with it. Well now I am in nursing school in clinicals, and not only can I not afford to lose a day or two to migraines, but I am also more educated on drug safety (as many of us are now after the vioxx fiasco).
A lot of people on tx seem to take vicodin or similar meds, Dependent upon your LFTs, nice if you can get something w/out tylenol if necessary. Then there is zofran and phenergan for nausea. Also, I think the opiates help the appetite but you have to watch for err... constipation with them. And any shakes or things that you can get down that add protein and fat are good.
I go to a pain clinic to get medication for my chemo, and my docs give me phenergan and zofran for my nausea. Instead of reducing my riba when my hgb went down, I was giving a transfusion and then placed on 40,000 units of procrit, followed by an increase to 80,000 units of procrit per week when my hgb didn't come up fast enough. It's WORKING. My hgb and hct are now coming up.
Zofran sublingual 8 mg Phenergan Tabs 50mg Phenergan suppositories 25mg And then I do a similar list with my hematologist only dealing with my procrit and my anemia issues.
dilaudid, fentanyl, even demoral could be considered along with zofran for the nausea. It's difficult to get out of the mindset that tells you "Doctor is always right" and never question your treatment. When it comes to pain, you have to tell the docs if the medication isn't working. They can't help you if they don't know about it. My pain doc put me on the fentanyl patch for the chonic pain in between surgeries and admissions.
A Strong Woman VS. A Woman Of Strength A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape… But a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape. A strong woman isn't afraid of anything… But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear. A strong woman won't let anyone get the better of her… But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.
Can any of you who have had this, tell me was there a point where they decided open vs. lap? What made them decide this for you? My cyst is about 10cm (they say about the size of an orange) and unfortunately it is moving toward my spine so it has been a challenge for them to find with regular exams. Any info/comfort is greatly appreciated. I asked them to let me keep it...you know? We have become one now, my cyst and I. My doc called it an alien and said it has to return to its planet.
Our vet drew up a dozen or so prefilled syringes, and we administered them just under the skin at the back of the neck. If you're already doing sub-q fluids, this won't be any different. I take phenergan myself for constant nausea, and discovered late in the game that dogs can also take phenergan. It didn't work quite as well as the reglan, but at that point we tried anything we could get our hands on.
