Zofran side effects on fetus

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran side effects on fetus

zofran

Avatar n tn I read about it and their not exactly sure of side effects on the fetus but said its okay to take before 38weeks gestation.. Well, even with my reservations about taking it, I have been, as prescribed, but the last two days, it hasn't worked! I've been throwing up EVERYTHING once again! I don't see my OB for the first time until Monday after next. Is it possible to become immune to a medicine that quick or is it just not strong enough?!
10874336 tn?1415760929 It has been studied for 50 years with zero correlation to negative side effects in the fetus. Only downside is it makes you really sleepy. Do your research.
Avatar f tn I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Zofran and what are some of your side effects? My morning sickness has been horrible...the worst ever. I am usually in bed all day and feeling like I can't do anything. My doctor initially prescribed Diclegis, but it doesn't help me. It made me sleep all day, causing me to skip meals and drinks. It also have me bad headaches. So I asked my DR to please let me try something else. At this point, I'm in tears because I can't keep anything down. Dr calls in Zofran.
Avatar m tn I had my first treatment on Wednesday and felt nauseous. After getting home I took Zofran which seemed to help. For my second treatment I told the medical staff of the nausea and they then gave me Zofran thru my IV. This time it didn't help. It is now Sunday and I am still feeling nauseous. I am taking Zofran every 4 hours but it is not helping. Is this a result of the ECT or might there be an underlying cause?
Avatar f tn There is no recall on zofran. It is safe to take during pregnancy. I took it for 7 weeks this pregnancy and no defects with this baby. Don't believe everything you hear on tv or online.
Avatar f tn It is true, but there are risks and possible side effects with any medications.
Avatar n tn Do you think it wise bringing a baby/ child into that environment? It's a hard call and one only you (?and your husband, partner, so) can make in consultation with your own doctor. I knew someone in a similar situation and she tried to harm her fetus while pregnant and later her daughter attempted suicide (due to the environment the mother raised her in). Are you in therapy to help address the anxiety?
Avatar m tn Since then we found out that Risperidone is know for side effects such as tardive dyskinesia. We are seriously concerned now. Will this be permanent ? What is the best way to examine this problem ? Thanks for any suggestions !
Avatar f tn I took zofran and didn't feel any side effects from it, but I was only taking it on an as-needed basis. It's hard to tell if those symptoms are side effects or just pregnancy lol I think it may just he normal but I'd call and ask my doctor and he/she might recommend something for it to help you out.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me a Zofran substitute because the original was said to cause horrible side effects to the baby. But of course nothing is perfect and not worth risking my baby, so I stopped taking the substitute and have just been dealing with the throwing up (I'm now 33 weeks and I've thrown up since the first few days of being pregnant. It ***** but its not impossible to deal with).
Avatar n tn t say the sx bother me or if I notice any. I do from neupogin. There are side effects but much like ones felt from riba or peg. Just a short time for you till the end. I have 6 more weeks myself. On and off procrit and neupogin depending on my labs.
Avatar f tn I have been on Zofran for nausea and vomiting. I'm in my first trimester and I hope it is not harming me and the baby. I know the doctor said it's okay. I just rather hear it from a experience mommy too.
Avatar f tn Don't worry about it. They wouldn't give it to you if itcaused any harm.
Avatar f tn It has unknown side effects just like every other medication there is on this earth! Do some online research into possible side effects, talk to your doctor about possible side effects, and read the packaging for possible side effects...
Avatar f tn The risk associated with dehydration and malnutrition due to HG is far greater than the potential side effects of Zofran and Reglan. My little guy is perfectly healthy up to this point. To each their own though.
Avatar f tn Am I the only one who doesn't understand why doctor keep prescribing zofran and its on commercial saying it may cause birth defects in your baby. Sorry but I don't wanna stop throwing up that bad.
Avatar f tn I was on zofran to though a needle and the pill then I stop taking it because I heard it cause birth defects..but I'm 13 weeks as well and I'm actually feeling a lil better.talk to yout doctor to see if she or he can give you something else..
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn s helped me and it says there are no side effects to me and my baby but some thing I was reading online says about causing cleft palates has anyone else taken this and is your baby perfectly fine?
Avatar f tn I've been on zofran for 16 weeks and have had zero spotting or bleedinf , its possible it could be unrelated but you should call your Dr
8377023 tn?1399509160 I was gonna call my doctor this morning to get perscribed something for my nausea but it went away. And she normally perscribes Zofran. You absolutely cannot believe everything you see on t.v. and the internet.
Avatar n tn Every single commercial you see regarding a drug hits the rare side effects at the very end. Zofran is used in labor routinely and safely. I had to have it in both of my deliveries due to nausea and vomiting (seems I am a total wimp and that is part of my pain reaction). Listen to any drug add and they, at the very end, list a couple of things that according to the package inserts on these drugs is are very low but legally they have to mention them in order to broadcast an ad.
Avatar n tn They may have revised the medicine since then. Definitely call your Dr and discuss the side effects of taking the medicine.
2147300 tn?1369689688 Yours is definitely extreme. I understand now why they gave me only 4 mg tabs. Now the prozac, thats a different story for me. My first round of tx they started me on prozac before tx after interview with wife and then doubled it when tx started. This time I am on nothing but am headed to gp for script before I wake up dead. I have butt head syndrome magnified with the incivik and really need the smile pill. Seems like everyone else has it quite mild and is using as needed.
Avatar m tn For instance, I know of someone who had to be on it throughout pregnancy, because she needed anticoagulation therapy, and warfarin has effects on the fetus. I know those shots aren't fun, but I wonder if you could use them from time to time, to give your hands a break.
Avatar f tn m overly susceptible to sedation side effects from most anti-nausea meds (as in becoming nearly unconscious), but 4mg of Zofran 1-2 times daily as needed worked incredibly well for me, with no sedation at all. In fact, I had no noticeable side effects at all from Zofran, but be aware that at least two forum members have reported severe headaches from Zofran. I wish that wasn't the case, as for me it was nothing short of a miracle. Good luck!
