Common Questions and Answers about Zofran pump pregnancy

zofran

Avatar f tn I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!

Avatar f tn As far as I know its been deemed safe for pregnancy. I had to be put on a zofran pump because I was so nauseous and vomited literally all the time. It got so bad I tore my esophagus a few times, and had to be in the hospital for fluids. That pump saved my life. I'm off it now, but still take the oral zofran as I need it. All my ultrasounds have shown that baby is perfect, and I did some hefty research before going on the pump, and couldn't find anything that said it caused defects.
Avatar f tn Actually there isn't anything wrong with taking zofran... I'm actually on a zofran pump that administer the med to me continuously all day to help with my morning sickness... I'm 20 wks and my baby is doing just fine..
Avatar f tn Yes zofran is great. Took in beginning of pregnancy and now again towards the end..
Avatar f tn Just was prescribed a zofran pump due to severe hyperemesis. I've had the catheter in my leg for 24 hours and find it very uncomfortable. While it is much better than being sick 24/7, anyone have any suggestions on dealing with the site?
Avatar f tn I have been on all three meds and was just about to go on the zofran pump when one day I wanted to see if maybe it was too much meds at once.. i stopped my meds and was great for 3 days then bad for 4.. so I started back on 4mg of zofran and have only been throwing up once a day at the most.. my midwife was a bit upset I just quit my meds but she said I know my body and if it's working then play with the meds.. this is my 4th pregnancy and my other 3 I was never sick.
Avatar f tn So I was given a zofran pump and iv fluids once a week, and a dietician by my home health nurses. Alere is a great company and thankfully my insurance covers most of it. I still get sick and have bad days but it's way better than it was.
Avatar f tn I went through the exact same thing, they finally had to put me on a zofran pump so that I could tolerate something on my stomach again. If you've tried everything else, that might be an option to look into. I was at the point where I couldn't even handle water on my stomach and kept ending up in the hospital for dehydration and that pump is the only thing that finally helped me.
Avatar f tn Zofran.. The pills didn't work for me with my first pregnancy. So this time I asked for something different.
Avatar f tn I had hyperemesis so bad I was put on a zofran pump. It was the only thing that let me function at all. My baby is 8 days old and is perfectly healthy.
Avatar f tn GINGER WORKED WONDERS FOR ME,,LOCAL MARKET
Avatar f tn Just curious. I've been taking zofran through out my entire pregnancy to help with nausea. I'd take only one in the morning and I'd never feel sick or throw up at all. Now that I'm 36 weeks, I throw up at least once a day and it's always unexpected. The zofran isn't working anymore :/ anyone go through this too?
Avatar f tn Have you tried zofran? Zofran worked for me the 1st time then with this pregnancy it wouldn't and phenegren helped. Some people have to be hooked to a pump if you have it very bad.
Avatar f tn Any of you ladies have experience with a reglan or zofran pump? A nurse will be at my home shortly to hook me up to a reglan pump because of my hyperemesis. I hope this prevents any further hospital trips (3 in 2 weeks) for fluids and Iv nausea meds but I'm not too keen on the idea of having something constantly pumping medicine into me. I know that I need my nutrients and it's not good for the baby with all of this vomiting but how good could constant medication be either?
Avatar f tn I have HG and had many trips to the hospital due to not keeping anything down. I would be put on iv fluids and zofran I was put on a zofran pump at 15 weeks till about 24 weeks! I still have sickness at 34 weeks I take one zofran odt a day and my little man is health as can be! I lost 30 pounds within 10 weeks but now past my starting weight! Its hard being so sick but so worth it! Good luck hope you start feeling better soon!
Avatar f tn So I've been nausous through my entire pregnancy. I've been able to take Zofran and be just fine till a few weeks ago. (I'm 33 weeks) And I've now lost a lbs. Not a good sign in the last trimester. What are some of the meds/ideas your Drs have recommended so I have an idea of what to ask my Dr about? Thanks. I'm really tired of the taste of stomach acid.
Avatar f tn I'm a FTM and have been diagnosed with Hypermesis. My nausea and vomiting started at 6 weeks and has yet to end and I'm 35 weeks today. Although I've lost 32 pounds and have been on IV's my entire pregnancy for nutrition/electrolytes, Zofran and Reglan have saved my life when it came to decreasing the vomiting and nausea!!! The pill didn't work so I have Zofran pump that pumps the medication into my stomach 24 hours a day.
Avatar f tn Its really up to u if u want to take it or not. My brothers girlfriend was on zofran most her pregnancy and my niece was and is fine. My oldest sister was on zofran with both her children and my niece was born not breathing and my nephew had to have a blockage removed from his heart a month after being born. So I personally don't want to take any chances. Good luck whichever u choose.
Avatar f tn Pain, GI, Pulmonary and High risk OB, the doctors still were not sure...they said they had never dealt with a pregnancy with someone this severe, but that I could try it and we would find out. I am now 5 months pregnant. The pain doctor wanted me back on oral meds incase a problem developed with the pump due to the expanding abdomen. I am off all med except zofran oxycontin and a little vicodin. The pregnany has been going well.
Avatar f tn My sickness was so bad I lost 20 pounds. It had gotten so bad, I had to get a zofran pump and walk around with a tube in my stomach to keep me from getting nauseous, and to keep the zofran flowing. I was on that for a month and a half. It helps. So if urs are as bad as mines, inquire about that.
Avatar f tn Ive been hospitalized 6 times so far for this disorder. I had the microinfusion pump but it didnt work well for me. Zofran causes a reaction for me. So I have dealt with this with no remedy and its getting to be too much. I had to quit my job. . i cant even enjoy life as i used to. Within last 4 days i have been able to eat a full meal but im right back to old ways now. Who had this disorder and when did u see full relief?
Avatar f tn I have it I'm taking phenegan ( spelling is probably wrong) but that's been helping me a lot...i did the zofran pump but that didn't do much for me....HG is horrible hope you find something that works for you....
Avatar f tn This is perfectly normal. It happened to me my first 3 pregnancies the entire time until delivery and now with my 4th pregnancy. My doctor currently has me on a zofran pump because i wasn't able to keep anything down and couldnt keep the medicine in me. Im doing better now with no vomiting or nausea and I am 15 weeks 6 days. I will be getting off the pump soon because im doing so much better! Try eating smaller meals throughout the day and try to snack between meals.
Avatar n tn Try diclectin first. Ive heard of possible problems with zofran during pregnancy. also, gravol was ok'd for me to use by a doc.
Avatar f tn I suffer from it as well. I lost 30 pounds, but recently gained 3. I'm off the IV's, but I still have the 24 hour Zofran pump in my stomach. I'm on Reglan as too; which helps with the nausea. And Pepcid for acid reflux. I didn't eat my first meal until I was 15 weeks and 6 days. I'm now 18 weeks and 2 days...I am so grateful for being able to eat!
Avatar n tn t the mention marajuana which is combating an entirely different complications - hyperemesis gravidarum (hospitization zofran pump kind). Although estrogen dominance(my last post touches on this)can affect thyroid, which is associated with hypermesis gravidarum). I have been smoking pot since I was 8w. sorry for my rambling. I have no one to talk to about this experimental, but very interesting pregnancy. But yeah, I'm a total medicinal pothead.
