Zofran pump pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran pump pregnancy

zofran

I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!
Yes zofran is great. Took in beginning of pregnancy and now again towards the end..
Actually there isn't anything wrong with taking zofran... I'm actually on a zofran pump that administer the med to me continuously all day to help with my morning sickness... I'm 20 wks and my baby is doing just fine..

Its really up to u if u want to take it or not. My brothers girlfriend was on zofran most her pregnancy and my niece was and is fine. My oldest sister was on zofran with both her children and my niece was born not breathing and my nephew had to have a blockage removed from his heart a month after being born. So I personally don't want to take any chances. Good luck whichever u choose.
Just curious. I've been taking zofran through out my entire pregnancy to help with nausea. I'd take only one in the morning and I'd never feel sick or throw up at all. Now that I'm 36 weeks, I throw up at least once a day and it's always unexpected. The zofran isn't working anymore :/ anyone go through this too?
As far as I know its been deemed safe for pregnancy. I had to be put on a zofran pump because I was so nauseous and vomited literally all the time. It got so bad I tore my esophagus a few times, and had to be in the hospital for fluids. That pump saved my life. I'm off it now, but still take the oral zofran as I need it. All my ultrasounds have shown that baby is perfect, and I did some hefty research before going on the pump, and couldn't find anything that said it caused defects.
Before the Zofran I was vomiting 14-33 hours non-stop and so far I have lost 30 pounds. I'm now on IV's and a Zofran pump 24 hrs a day and it has worked wonders! I'm 14wks, 4d and only throw up once a day (if that).
I was on both the Zofran pump and the pills. They say they make you tired but never really made me tired. I am taking it again and no luck. I am not sleeping well either. I have this really crazy thing I do....I start with the letter A and see how many boy and girl names I can come up with. Next I move to B,C,D, etc..I never make it that far. For some reason that really works. Oh, and I do it with my eyes shut because I picture the name also.
D student ) and just lay in bed. I'm 16 weeks, I've lost 30 pounds, have a home care nurse, on a Zofran pump 24 hours a day and IV's. I also take Reglan every 6 hours for the nausea as well, I am on a prescription to help me stop spitting, I take Pepcid for the stomach acid, and Dol-ca-lax for the constipation (side effect from the medicine). Im getting better because I can keep down about 15 oz of liquids, toast and maybe a peach or watermelon. That's definitely progress!
I had a 3d sonogram at 18 weeks, 16 weeks gestation and my baby doesn't have a cleft lip and I have been taking zofran since my 10th week of pregnancy. If it does turn out that it does cause cleft lip then I would think it would be just at the very beginning, like I had previously said. One or my very best friends was born with one and it was because her mom took some sort of medicine at the very beginning of her pregnancy.
I was on Zofran and Reglan with my daughter for almost 30 weeks. I was on a pump that gave me medicine 24 hours a day because I couldn't keep the pills down. It was one of the hardest times in my life. I felt alone and still got sick every day. I was in and out of the hospital all throughout my pregnancy. Now my daughter is 2 1/2 yrs old and I am thankful but wonder about the side effects of being on that kinda a medicine. My daughter is very small.
Pain, GI, Pulmonary and High risk OB, the doctors still were not sure...they said they had never dealt with a pregnancy with someone this severe, but that I could try it and we would find out. I am now 5 months pregnant. The pain doctor wanted me back on oral meds incase a problem developed with the pump due to the expanding abdomen. I am off all med except zofran oxycontin and a little vicodin. The pregnany has been going well.
In extreme cases a morphine pump is inserted into the patient and a constant flow of the drug is readily available. Usually a port is inserted somewhere in the chest area for easy access.
I am looking for more info on pregnancy after an endometrial ablation. I had an ablation in May 2002. January 2003 I was not feeling well and went to the family doctor. She thought it may be an ectopic pregnancy since I was told I was sterile. I had an ultrasound to discover it was an interuterine pregnancy and I was about 9 weeks. I am now 17 weeks and for the past month trying to decide to terminate or continue.
I have a picc line because I can't keep anything down, so I am on IV fluids daily at home and I have a zofran pump. I was a small baby as well 5lb 4oz same as my sister, my mom was 6 lbs so there is a long history of small babies.
I should have been hospitalized and on fluids. The second pregnancy I was put on a drug called Zofran. My miracle drug. I suffered no ill side affects and was able to eat light foods and cereal for 2 months until the sickness finally faded. I still felt nausea but at least I could eat, drink, take my vitamins, and leave the house! My son was born March 2010. I just found out I was pregnant for a third time. Due in June 2012.
With my first son, severe morning sickness to the point of a zofran pump and being hospitalized, early onset of diabetes diagnosed at 15 weeks, severe swelling, and anemia didn't set in till 38 weeks. This pregnancy, sickness wasnt bad and could be controlled with medication, diabetes test passed with flying colors, no swelling hardly; however, i have severe anemia and a heart problem called supraventricular tachycardia.
Zofran.. The pills didn't work for me with my first pregnancy. So this time I asked for something different.
I didn't the mention marajuana which is combating an entirely different complications - hyperemesis gravidarum (hospitization zofran pump kind). Although estrogen dominance(my last post touches on this)can affect thyroid, which is associated with hypermesis gravidarum). I have been smoking pot since I was 8w. sorry for my rambling. I have no one to talk to about this experimental, but very interesting pregnancy. But yeah, I'm a total medicinal pothead.
So I was given a zofran pump and iv fluids once a week, and a dietician by my home health nurses. Alere is a great company and thankfully my insurance covers most of it. I still get sick and have bad days but it's way better than it was.
My sickness was so bad I lost 20 pounds. It had gotten so bad, I had to get a zofran pump and walk around with a tube in my stomach to keep me from getting nauseous, and to keep the zofran flowing. I was on that for a month and a half. It helps. So if urs are as bad as mines, inquire about that.
Zofran worked for me the 1st time then with this pregnancy it wouldn't and phenegren helped. Some people have to be hooked to a pump if you have it very bad.
So I've been nausous through my entire pregnancy. I've been able to take Zofran and be just fine till a few weeks ago. (I'm 33 weeks) And I've now lost a lbs. Not a good sign in the last trimester. What are some of the meds/ideas your Drs have recommended so I have an idea of what to ask my Dr about? Thanks. I'm really tired of the taste of stomach acid.

Although I've lost 32 pounds and have been on IV's my entire pregnancy for nutrition/electrolytes, Zofran and Reglan have saved my life when it came to decreasing the vomiting and nausea!!! The pill didn't work so I have Zofran pump that pumps the medication into my stomach 24 hours a day. I never imagined being on meds my entire pregnancy but this is what has happened.
