Reglan is also not meant to be taken long-term, although doctors routinely prescribe it that way. In too-high doses, psychosis can occur. I've seen this reaction in one of my dogs who was taking Reglan for nausea related to kidney failure. I found one study online that was done several years ago that noted severe side effects in some people and dogs who took Reglan regularly for several months or at high doses. For the most part, it's a safe and effective medication.
Before you resort to zofran try taking vitamin b6 in the morning and at night.
Has anyone else taken zofran while preg? I read that it was bad for baby one some sites and is a miracle drug on others. I'm just concerned and would never want to take anything that could harm my baby.
The prescribe meds and procedures knowing that there are risks and some people will be badly effected. They also prescribe things before long term studies have been done proving safety or danger, as we can see throughout history with countless meds being recalled or discontinued, and procedures becoming antiquated due to improved education and technology. I'd rather not be one of those statistics if I have an opportunity to avoid it.
I have morning sickness all day long and if I don't take it I feel like crap and want to throw up.. always feeling sick but when I take it I feel amazing. Sickness is gone and it only takes one pill all day long to help and it says to take one pill twice a day as needed on my bottle but I only need one. Works so good for me if it weren't for it I wouldn't be able to eat at all.
Zofran doesnt work for me. I have to take phynagram it makes me very sleepy but at least it works im 19w 4d and still really sick so I have to take them all the time.
I'm 13 weeks today. Ive been really sick since week 6 and taking zofran. At 10-11 weeks I started feeling better, was even able to cut back taking Zofran to 1 a day. Now the last week I've been really sick again and needing to take zofran twice a day again. I thought I was close to getting over the hump but now I feel I'm back at the beginning. Did anyone else go through this?
Ladies dont take zofran!! The medicine used for morning sickness. There was a recall. It doubles the risk of birth defects when used in the first trimester. I'm not a dr/nurse or in the medical field of any sort... i saw it on tv and Googled the recall is all.
I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!
t prescribe it correctly since in young healthy individuals with good kidney function will clear the drug quicker than the usual q 4 hrs it is prescribed Q2 to Q3 is more in line with the drugs bioavailability. Demerol works well in post op especially for the patient who is having post operative shakes. Long term pain management is not the correct clinical application of demerol. While I am on it Phenergan doesn't potentiate anything except sedation.
I took it with my first child but not very often I also lost 18lbs in my first trimester all although it did work it's now linked to many birth defects and I would suggest not taking it.

I was so sick from weeks 6-12 and lost over 15 pounds and still a few times a week at 13wks 3 days have to take zofran to be able to eat... It works wonders go to your doc and get some you will feel soooooo much better!
I took Zofran but it was for an off label use not for nausea which is its general use. Although it does control nausea it can create it in a minor way so the best thing to do is eat food with it. And it can be a bit sedating. Long term for Zofran a liver function test is advised as was by my provider but that's true of many medications including what I am on now.

Zofran is better during pregnancy, I don't like promethazine as much because it has some bad long term side effects, and zofran is more effective. They use it for chemo patients. Let's be clear about form of promethazine as it comes in a liquid mainly for cough medicine promethazine w/codeine (promethazine w/codeine syrup is highly abused in our country) plain promethazine syrp, promethazine vc syrp and pill form.
I had my first treatment on Wednesday and felt nauseous. After getting home I took Zofran which seemed to help. For my second treatment I told the medical staff of the nausea and they then gave me Zofran thru my IV. This time it didn't help. It is now Sunday and I am still feeling nauseous. I am taking Zofran every 4 hours but it is not helping. Is this a result of the ECT or might there be an underlying cause?
