Zofran in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran in dogs

zofran

I take phenergan myself for constant nausea, and discovered late in the game that dogs can also take phenergan. It didn't work quite as well as the reglan, but at that point we tried anything we could get our hands on. Over the counter Dramamine for motion sickness can be tried as it is metabolized in the liver - got that info from an ER vet nearby.
In too-high doses, psychosis can occur. I've seen this reaction in one of my dogs who was taking Reglan for nausea related to kidney failure. I found one study online that was done several years ago that noted severe side effects in some people and dogs who took Reglan regularly for several months or at high doses. For the most part, it's a safe and effective medication. It's just not the most effective medication for opiate-induced nausea.
), doing passive aggressive or hostile pranks (in the past), self medicating with natural remedies (in the past), drinking large amounts of caffeinated beverages (in the past), overstating my important/thinking I could "change the world", unable to concentrate on tasks but becoming obssessed with something unimportant. Right now I am to the point where I can spot this and catch it before it gets worse. Can you? What happens with you? Can you stop it? And could you learn?
We are going to try Carboplatin and etoposide(sp?) combination for my next chemo in three weeks. I lost 9 lbs in one week and was on two different naseau meds through the weekend. I no longer need naseau meds so I think I am ready to start taking magnesium pills. I am so grateful my sister had come out to stay with me for my last chemo. My oncologist was very surprised I had such a hard time since I had no problems with my last chemo drug combination.
Take vitamin b6 in the morning and at night if that diesnt work go ask your doctor about zofran
Zofran? That is a pretty strong med. I have heard of it being used in dogs going through Chemo but I would not use that without consulting a Vet first. Have you tried Dramamine or Ginger? What breed and size dog is this? How old? You could try a ginger capsule in something like lunch meat, cheese or pill pocket. I have had success using Ginger Snap cookies about 30 mins before leaving and take some along with me.
And up tell just yesterday I had no morning sickness nothing. But just starting yesterday morning when I wokeup I had that feeling in my mouth and throat and stomach I was gonna puke, but never did and it lasted all day and all night then I woke up this morning and the same thing, so I layed back down and went to sleep for another 2 hours and when I woke up I felt fine tell I got out of bed and went and let the dogs out. Just wanted to check and see if anyone was having morning, afternoon and evening sickness??? I have a 2 year old and was only sick in the morning (extreme nausea), now with baby #2 I started getting sick at 3 weeks.....blah....
Although I have to admit I felt a little better for about an hour after. I think it was the combo of the bitterness of the zofran in my mouth (I didn't drink anything after taking it; it dissolves in your mouth) and then I brushed my teeth that put me over the edge. Trying to stay positive, that this means things are going good, but I'm counting down the weeks until that second trimester!
I've been on birth control for about 6 months. No problems. This second week in January I ate a few hot dogs, felt nauseous didn't vomit even though I wanted to to get it over with but the feeling went away. So I was fine, then after I worked out the next day and drank milk felt nauseous didn't vomit. Do days later passed and something triggered, like clicked in my head automatically saying if I eat I WILL throw up.
who knows The nausea was so bad I had to be rehydrated 3 times in the ER. Ginger root steeped in hot water really helped. Today I get very nauseous with migraines and drink ginger tea - and just recently found a flavored water - peppermint water that helped with the last bout.
You'll want to put him on a diet as low as possible in phosphorus - that stuff is deadly in dogs with kidney failure. Calcium is a phosphorus binder and remove it fromthe body. A plain old Tums tablet once or twice a day (depending on how badly your dog is doing) will help a great deal. Add some pepcid or zantac, but keep a close eye out for loss of appetite.
And as for doing what he loves, he loves having his dogs around he likes taking them in and caring for them but even then his girlfriend has to take over because he cant do it for very long, he likes to tinker with things but has had three cars salvaged because he couldnt focus on them anymore he always ended up doing other things.
) as for smells, a few drops of lemon essential oils on a hankie for you to sniff if you can not get away from smells, ie your dogs in the same room.
I everyone, Im currently a little over 24 weeks pregnant with my first and I have to go in April 1st to have the glucose testing done. My question is is it really as bad as what everyone is telling me. I have had severe nasea my whole pregnancy and really really bad gag reflexs, I cant stand throwing up :(. So Im really scared Im not gonna be able to handle the drink or its gonna make me sick. Just looking for some personal experiences good or bad.

I have only completed three weeks (tomorrow) on triple therapy and today I feel so bad it is hard to keep in mind why I am doing this. Still have awful rash, am so sick to my stomach I am gagging on water. Have a head ache, hair burns, ears hurt, face burns, butt burns, so tired I can't think straight. I am trying not to whine but if it is only going to get worse can't imagine how this is all going to feel at six weeks.
more than I thought it would. God bless the people that can work out swim and walk their dogs I miss all that can't wait to do it again soon I hope. But I did get some good news today and I thank God for that!!!!!
It's difficult to diagnoise addison's because often by the time owner's get the dogs in to the vets it's too late. Is your dog lethargic? (more than normal i mean) because that combined with vomitting are what happened to my dog. Just a thought.
One of my worst attacks ever was after eating Thai Lettuce Wraps, they literally sat in my stomach marinating in juices fermenting all night. I woke up in the morning and threw them up. I cannot express how disgusting it was. I can recall the smell/taste even now, it is seared in my memory. I wound up in the emergency room that day. I've suffered from regurgitation after meals for as long as I can remember, literally.
I had lots of blow off days when I was on the Incivek but I always felt better after I walked my dogs or did the stairmaster or even worked in the yard.
Hitch is getting dropped off for surgery at 9 AM, so if I'm out of zofran by 6 AM and not holding down my other meds, we can just swing by the hospital and drop me off after the dog gets dropped off. I imagine if they have to administer IV zofran in the emergency department to get me to hold down the rest of my meds, they'll probably be irritated enough to hunt down my doc to get her to get this prior authorization done so I can get my Rx filled??
If you are in Northern California my doc was one of the proteges of those two docs and they are the top dogs in the world and teach everywhere and are amazing. I understand that Dr. Mel Scheinman practices in California somewhere so it is worth a shot...if not try my doc Dr. Steven Hao out of Greenbrae or Marin County here in Northern California if this is where you are from. You cannot take chances with this situation...
The nausea is just annoying and when I eat a cracker or munch on something it subsides, At least we're still here, and finding some joy in just being. I feel so lucky to make it home and tuck myself into my comfy bed, curl up with gratitude and wonder what its all about.
(my entire body locked up and i felt paralyzed, and i felt like i had a boulder on top of my organs, and thought i was literally dying). Sooo, in the ER they gave me valium, and zofran. The zofran became my friend, as it was the only thing i could take for the nausea. The problem was, after taking it for a long time you become tolerant, and 4 mg, wasn't enough any more.
My HR has also been Very Low...Lower than usual I should say. B/P has been running in the low to middle 80's over low 50's with HR in the low to middle 50's.... This *****.... Anyhow, I hope to be a bit better tomorrow. I guess I will wake up and take the Methyline first thing in the morning...I REALLY do not like how that stuff makes me feel. And I am on a VERY low dose ANDDDD...take only HALF of that!!! I hope everyone elses week has started off GREAT!
i stopped taking norco 10 325 sat morning at 8am i took 6 @ 5am and 2 at 8 then started to get sick at 4 pm i went into detox and on sunday i was on suboxon 4 mg one time a day they gave me the suboxon on sunday at 8 then i had it on monday and tuesday then wendsday i felt so good i signed my self out that was a stupid mistake since yesterday ive been in w/d mostly just tummy pain but its so bad i cant move i went to the e r and they gave me zofran and it helps but does not take it away m
I haven't even SEEN him for 6 weeks. He took a month's vacation and they staff won't get me in this week. I mean WILL NOT. A bit of an attitude there, so I don't want to stay with that office anyway. There are NO other gastros here who treat HepC except one decrepit old man who couldn't even remember me when I went in for CT scan results that HE ordered and was looking at. I think Victrelis, even with the anemia issue, would be much better for me.
However, taking a second medication in order to tolerate another medication is not a smart solution. Phenergan and Zofran are not a medication I want to take every few hours...not a good idea. I appreciate the suggestion but have already explored that option and all of my doctors do not like that solution which makes complete sense to me.
