is it ok to give 7-8 lb chihuahua 4 mg dissolving tablet for nausea/vomiting (keeps vomiting her water every time she drinks), otherwise she seems to be feeling ok, just having trouble keeping it down 2day, @ 15 mins after she drinks just vomits w/o notice (no hacking like they usually do when they vomit) just comes out seemingly uncontrollably. We already gave her Pepto & she vomited that as well.
They may be able to prescribe be you zofran or something that will help. Getting dehydrated is bad for you and the baby and excessive vomiting will do that quickly! Often the sooner you start taking something the more effective it will be for you. Hold in there! First trimester can be so hard with the sickness!!
I have been using phenergan/promethazine it's an antihistamine for nausea and itching, it made me sleepy until I got used to it. It works well for me on the nausea and I guess the itching as well as I haven't had to much of a problem with that yet.
During my carbo/taxotere treatments I got Zofran and decadron IV, more decadron and Emend in pill form for three days, and Zofran in pill form for as long as I needed it. I still suffered lots and lots of nausea.
Now during my carbo/gemzar treatments I get Aloxi and decadron IV, take Zofran (8 mg) and Promethazine (Phenergan) for four days after each tx. This combo seems to work for me.
Sometimes drugs are necessary. I am so thankful for zofran bc I get the chance to have my baby boy. In my case vomiting almost 20 times a day couldve killed my baby, or couldve killed me bc of dehydration and severe weight loss. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to vomit every day and still be considered healthy...
Any suggestions on nausea relief? I was prescribed Zofran but I prefer not to take it. Any home remedies you can recommend?
I honestly wouldn't worry about the Zofran. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and just ran out about a month ago and had been taking them since I was about 11 or so weeks. My baby is just fine. They say every medicine will cause birth defects and what not. But if Zofran caused birth defects and they've been prescribing it since 1990 to women with morning sickness they would have caught on by now and wouldn't prescribe it anymore.
If you needed zofran than you have been dealing with severe morning sickness/ hyperemesis. Dehydration after vomiting every 30-45 minutes is extremely dangerous. I'm sure no one takes it for the heck of it. No pregnant women sign up for drug trials just for the sake of trials so some things are unknown risks.
(There was a recent article about acetaminophen causing ADHD but most people wouldn't consider tylenol very risky.
I am 26 weeks and am still throwing up everyday but went from,like 40 times a day to 15. My OB said some woman have it there whole pregnancy. I,take the zofran but doesn't really work for me. I have to stay really hydrated and use boost because I lost 24 pounds so far. On the bright side baby is healthy. My first pregnancy I was sick like this but it ended after 4 months. My second I wasn't sick but a week. I hope it gets better for you.
I was prescribed zofran for nausea and throwing up and I started taking it at 7 weeks and I'm still taking it at 16 weeks 2days. It helps a lot! And peanut butter helped a lot too! And tea!
If that does not work, then you probably need a prescription for Zofran which blocks the nausea and vomiting (which is caused by the drugs). Many of us used Zofran. It works very well for most of us. I took 8 mg every 8 hours for a few months.
Don't let this go. It will snowball. If the phenergan does not work, then ask for Zofran. Zofran does not make you sleepy. Phenergan does. Phenergan is cheaper, but Zofran works better (in my opinion). It is used to treat the nausea from Chemo.
So I've been having really bad nausea since I found out I was pregnant and I thought it would get better now that I'm 12 weeks pregnant but It's not only nausea now I'm actually throwing up now. They prescribed zofran for me. Has anyone taken zofran? Did it work for you? & did you have any side effects?
D ftm I had very very bad nausea and vomiting, still do occasionally now, but when I do it gets BAD!
Anyone else vomiting non stop? Ugh!
m 15wks with this one and he looks very healthy. they have been prescribing zofran and phenergan for a LONG time for pregnant women with no known birth defects or problems. don't feel guilty!
do what you have to do, take them when you feel you need to, and try to accept the fact that if your OB is prescribing it, he/she believes that it is safe, and that the anti-nausea meds ARE considered safe by almost all of the medical profession. dehydration is way worse for baby!
