Zofran for post op nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran for post op nausea

zofran

Avatar n tn Everyone is different and what works for some does not work for others. I used zofran and phenergan suppositories for nausea. For constipation I used stool softners and used miralax powder. When I used these like clockwork, I would usually do alright. I kept a medication journal and wrote it all down( or when I wasn't doing so well someone would) so I would not forget something or the time to take it.
Avatar f tn Just trying to function daily and find the true reason for my nausea. Has anyone besides me experiencing nausea before and after? Well will it stop?
1891806 tn?1391119037 I saw ur schedule surgery on the thread for surgery dates.....I too had nausea and no longer have it post op....surgery can help with many of the symptoms we deal with ..... One thing to remember is recovery takes time no matter how good u feel post op...take the time to rest, rest and then rest some more....but make sure u walk a little every day and do ur neck exercises to help avoid stiff muscles and scar tissue from forming.
Avatar f tn I did not have nausea like that....what did your Dr say? Did you have a post op MRI? Mine was at 1 yr post op, but some will do it sooner if someone is having issues....
Avatar f tn Ondansetron (Zofran®) 8mg-16mg (They come in 4, 8 and 16mg tabs. You might need 16-32mg. Granisetron (Kytril®) 1mg tabs Aprepitant (Emend®) is new, and is used to prevent (not treat) nausea. Studies show it to be very effective especially when used in combination with the two drugs above and decadron (dexamethasone).. Palonosetron (Aloxi®) this is fairly new and only available IV, but it is the ONLY long-acting drug on the market—good for up to 5 days after administration.
Avatar m tn Doctors should give everyone a prescription for throwing up before starting treatment. I knew to ask for Zofran before treatment because I had throw up issues while in cancer chemo. Give your doctor a call and get relief. It works great.
Avatar f tn i recently posted a question regarding how to deal with nausea and got many helpful responses...needless to say I have tried every suggestion that was post and more....ginger everything, B6, sea bands, small meals, preggie pops (which now make me sick), and much more. However, I started to vomit everything up on Saturday and now I can hardly take down any food. I can't even drink water without dry heaving. I put food up to my mouth and can't even put it in.
1201433 tn?1328997637 I just want to say it is like night and day since they gave me a script for some , started today, I was up all last night vomiting, do not suffer ask your doctor for some!!
2129735 tn?1336423434 Good Afternoon Everyone, Please excuse my grammar and spelling. I am horrible on my best day now between pain meds and tiredness makes it ten times worse! Since my surgery, one week ago,I have been doing well. I was in a lot of pain but they finally got that magaged . I get hickups almost every time I stand up from either laying down or sitting. Which is quite oain full for the incision. Also I have such vivid nighmares/dreams I have to physically sit up mid-dream to wake myself.
Avatar m tn I think it is worth it. What have you tried so far? Many people with mild nausea get a lot of help from ginger (tea, candied, or capsules), and keeping your fluid intake very high is helpful too. If the nausea is severe those measures probably won't do it and you should try prescription meds. Most of us have had very good results from Zofran, though there are occasional people who get nothing but a headache from it. For me, Zofran is nothing short of a miracle.
Avatar n tn zofran (sublingual) for nausea/vomiting....... ginger (bought at grocery store near spices) suck on several pieces..... these did not help my husband, but you may want to try them. If you are interested I found an esophageal cancer online community at ****.*** I just now signed up so I am hopeful at this point. I wish you and your husband the best of life.
Avatar f tn I have been on reglan for awhile now and I love it. I tried zofran and it didn't work for me, it just made me constipated. Reglan is perfectly safe to take. I haven't had any side effects.
Avatar f tn After reading your post, l'm a little nervous because that is excatly what my doctor is having me take 3 times a day, but l only take them twice a day. He decided to prescribe that after my previous nausea pills wouldn't work. l tried not taking anything for a week, and l felt worse, throwing up everything. Now with Zofren l can finally keep my food down. But l'm really nervous about your comment, l'm a first time mom.
Avatar f tn Yeah be careful with the zofran it constipatedme really bad
Avatar m tn I have been using phenergan/promethazine it's an antihistamine for nausea and itching, it made me sleepy until I got used to it. It works well for me on the nausea and I guess the itching as well as I haven't had to much of a problem with that yet.
Avatar f tn She is tonite extrememly ill with nausea and headache . Zofran nor Emend bring relief. I take Zofran prn during chemo, along with the E the first 3 days and have not had much of a problem. Is there something else out there aside fro Compazine, Zofran, Emend that she may speak to Doc about? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Zofran worked wonders for me!
Avatar f tn About three weeks ago the pain came back. This time accompanied with nausea, dizziness, fever, and the pain that is just under the level of post surgery. I have been to the ER three times in the last week and two CTs and X-rays don't show anything wrong. Thy want to admit me and get an MRI and run some more tests. Has anyone else experienced any thing like this being this far out from recovery?
10197070 tn?1409269893 I'm DESPERATE for nausea remedies. I was given medication but I don't feel comfortable taking it. HELP PLEASE!
Avatar f tn it was really bad to the point where I had to keep plastic bags in my car incase I had to throw up. I asked my doctor for Zofran and its helped so much! Natural remedies like drinking sprite or ginger ale, eating crackers, pretzels and things like that never helped me but idk how it works for u. If it doesn't I would get Zofran from ur doctor. Goodluck and congrats on your baby!
