Is zofran safe to rake during pregnancy? I've read some stories and some say it's not and can cause heart defects is this true?

My son was born a bit early, we were induced due to the placement of a fibroid on my uterus so we kept him on the small side to prevent rupture of the fibroid, but took zofran with him through all of first trimester. He was 5lbs 6oz delivered almost a month early but he was very healthy other then his weight.

So I am early on in my pregnancy in the second trimester. I know there is bad nausea but I have not kept anything down at all today and not much yesterday. I'm constantly nauseous if it's normal then it's fine just kinda concerned if I should contact the nurse at my obgyn and see if there's something for nausea they can prescribe me.

It has been used off-label to treat nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. Based on recent studies regarding the association between Zofran use in early pregnancy and congenital cardiac malformations and oral clefts (cleft lip and palate), the FDA has cautioned against its use in pregnancy. There are also potential maternal risks associated with taking Zofran especially in pregnant women with electrolyte imbalance due to severe nausea and vomiting.

When I was nauseated early in pregnancy, I didn't know about zofran, I took (OTC) motion sickness tablets, and b-vitamin supplements and both methods helped. When I saw those ads about the lawsuits I was happy I hadn't taken zofran.

I would highly recommend Zofran. It is used for nausea and it works WONDERS! They have other drugs likes Phenergan and Compozine, but the side effects are long and AWFUL (I know because I have taken both). I just looked at the med fact on Zofran and while it doesn't say much about breastfeeding while taking Zofran, there aren't any known problems with taking it during pregnancy.

I haven't heard of any risks and my doctor is pretty straight forward!

It is perfectly fine to take while pregnant I took it threw out my first pregnancy and I'm currently taking it now threw my second pregnancy :)

This is my second pregnancy , my first was so awful I wasn't keeping anything down not even meds and I lost 20lbs the first trimester from my MS. I'm hoping this one goes smoothly . I'm only 4 weeks along but I'm. Starting to get nasousous and feeling like I'm about to throw up at all times so my dr . Put me on Zofran (which she did the first pregnancy put I couldn't keep it down so I barely took it) did you guys ever take it ? Does it really work .

My friend took it with her pregnancies and delivered healthy babies,but i know there are massive lawsuits against zofran. I would say consult with your Dr and approach with caution.

ve been taking Zofran the dissolvable tablet every morning and every evening and had only occasionally been throwing up well this morning I woke up with a horrible headache which is sadly one of the side effects of Zofran but it beats throwing up 6 times a day well now even the pill isn't helping. I have thrown up everything I've eaten today and all I've eaten is a bowl of cereal. Anyone else experience this?

So has anyone taken zofran while pregnant? I try to stay away from all medicine except my vitamins but the other night I ate something and I'm guessing my baby really didn't like it because I've been kind of sick since then but the other night the nausea was unbearable so I took one.

Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant almost 7 now and I have had the worse nausea of my life. Not much of throwing up just nausea. I was prescribed Zofran to help with that but I have found that a lot of women who have taken it have had their child born with deformities. Has anyone taken this medicine before???

I took zofran my entire first pregnancy because I was horribly sick an the first 3 months I couldn't even get out of bed let alone eat!

So my doctor prescribed me some nausea medicine called zofran and I was watching a commercial on tv and it was talking about how babies are being born with birth defects after using the nausea medicine zofran. So should I stop taking it and find other ways to deal with the nausea ? or should I continue to use it if my doctor recommended it.

It's normal. The yellow is because there's nothing in your system. When i got sick in the very early mornings, before i ate, it'd be almost neon yellow.

So I've been seeing all this negative stuff about zofran causing all kinds of birth defects to unborn babies. I'm 30 weeks pregnant & I've been taking zofran my entire pregnancy, so it's worrying me. Has anyone else taken zofran? What are your opinions on it?

I thought I was gonna be lucky. This *****. I would have rather have it in early pregnancy instead of now. If it persists I'll ask for something for nausea. Thanks again and good luck.

in pregnancy as no pregnant women wants to put herself forward for testing but zofran has been used on millions of women with severe HG with very little effects. I am in UK and unfortunately our options for HG treatment is more limited than in Canada/US. Also the person who commented on the increase of cleft palates after being treated with zofran, studies have showed an increase in cleft palates in women who have taken zofran AND women who took none but had HG.

There is no recall on zofran. It is safe to take during pregnancy. I took it for 7 weeks this pregnancy and no defects with this baby. Don't believe everything you hear on tv or online.

The only issue with using Zofran is that it causes constipation, which is already a problem for most of us. So just increase your water intake and maybe add prune juice if you notice constipation starting.
