Avatar f tn I took it twice when i had the stomach flu and it helped me immensely but the dr told me if I'm concerned about birth defects even though he said its fine, that i should take it only if i really need it like its the only way i can eat
4422728 tn?1355841429 Earlier in my pregnancy (9 weeks) i got a super bad 24 hour stomach flu, and now i am 13 weeks and i just got over a a pretty bad 7 day head cold which started with a sore throat, i better for only 3 days and now im getting sick again ( i can feel it coming) ahhh this *****, i am sick of feeling yucky ): I am mostly just venting right now lol
Avatar f tn Okay so yesterday i felt bad and was cramping. Started vomiting and (tmi) having water like diarrhea. Now i have a headache that won't go away my nose is runny, I'm freezing (when I'm usually burning up, bit don't have a thermometer to take my temp) and my body aches all over... I haven't peed since like 4 pm yesterday evening so I'm probably dehydrated. Phenergan and zofran are not helping, even called my doc and he upped my dosage, still puking.
Avatar f tn I have been able to keep sprit and powerade down ok. Water is not a good thing to try and stomach when your nauseated. Also having soup is a form or nutrition and counts as fluids too. Your doctor may be able to prescribe something like Zofran that should help. Take your prenatal vitamins at night before bed. This will help too.
Avatar f tn Sips of water and soft bland foods when you start back on solids - we call it the BRAT diet for bananas, raisins, applesauce, and toast. Take it easy and wash your hands religiously. Almost all stomach bugs will self-resolve within 48-72 hours. You'll be feeling better in no time.
10221785 tn?1410990458 It could be stomach flu that has been going around a lot this year. Its horrible. Hard to think you would suddenly get morning sickness out of the blue at 34 weeks. I'd you eat some crackers or apple sauce and keep throwing up I'd say food poisoning or stomach flu. Try to stay hydrated with sips of water and popsicles. If it gets too bad call your doctor.
Avatar f tn For me to get a ginger ale and take zofran. I got the ginger ale and refused to get zofran due to the commercials of the health recalls about it giving baby's cleft lip and pallet. The ginger ale didn't help. I've tried to eat crackers and drink the broth from chicken soup, that didn't work either. I'm trying to understand and I crazy or does that not seem normal and has this happened to anyone else and what was their outcome.
Avatar f tn I am really sorry that you are feeling so sick. I am surprised the ER did not give you anything for the vomiting and nausea. Maybe they do not understand the importance of taking the Riba as prescribed. Maybe Zofran would help. 8 mg of Zofran every 8 hours did the trick for me. My nausea and vomiting were due to the medications and the Zofran worked wonders. I don't know how it would work on the flu, but I wonder if the nausea and vomiting are from the flu or from the meds.
8475475 tn?1403476630 I was in the ER weekly for meds and IV fluid. After 3 hospitalizations and trying Zofran in pill form, they gave me a home care nurse. I was on IV's daily, a Zofran pump that pumps the meds into my stomach 24 hrs a day, Reglan (in pill form to help with the vomiting) and Pepcid for the acid reflex. Although I could not keep food down for 11 weeks and lost 28 pounds the Zofran pump helped. I'm 22 weeks as of today.
4825186 tn?1409019576 That's not the flu. Influenza is an upper respiratory sickness. The "stomach" flu is called gastroentitis or however it's speller and is caused by inflammation from bacteria and other viruses. Your doctor can prescribe you antibiotics since it's so severe.
Avatar f tn t know about zofran, I took (OTC) motion sickness tablets, and b-vitamin supplements and both methods helped. When I saw those ads about the lawsuits I was happy I hadn't taken zofran.
Avatar f tn I been taking zofran and its helping alil. I can now keep my fluids down and i had some chicken noodle soup.
Avatar f tn You can try ginger ale saltines just don't take more meds then prescribed. With my first pregnancy zofran just took the edge off but it didn't work miracles.
Avatar f tn My sister took zofran with both of her little girls and they are both very healthy, very perfect little girls. In some cases zofran might cause defects but its not the only thing to do so, it could be genetics or something else you've been exposed to during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Sounds crazy but my friend swears by it. Eating small meals of bland foods (think the BRAT diet for getting over stomach flu) frequently may help. Keep crackers or something on your bedside table and munch a few every time you wake up at night and right when you wake up in the morning. If you have prenatals, try to take them at night and with food. Good luck!
5265255 tn?1375320805 I'm on Zofran too! Due to weight loss from not keeping ANYTHING down. It's done wonders for me too! I didn't even think to suggest that. I'm glad someone else did!
Avatar f tn Hi. I am 40. 8 weeks. Was losing almost a lb a day. I'm on zofran now. Are any of you on it too? Has it helped?
Avatar f tn Me top and nothing works not crackers juice mints the zofran I'm sick as heck but soon it shall pass
Avatar f tn Hey...I am 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant and last night i started to have serios neck pain...i think i got a serious flu. So I woke up and made some hot tea because i couldn't even swallow. I think tea anf honey isn't gonna work. What can i take that would make me better without hurting my baby? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I tried to take the pills but I was way to sick for that! So I have been on the Zofran pump (pumps Zofran into my stomach 24 hours a day) for the last 3 months. It's been "Heaven sent" for me! I lost 28 pounds in my first trimester and was unable to eat or drink anything for 11 weeks! Now because of the pump, I can eat anything and have gained 3 of those pounds back!
1275919 tn?1279836004 I have taken my zofran and am hoping that that is the end of it. I took phenegren for a couple of years when needed but earlier this year when my hubby took me to the ER they gave me zofran and I found it worked WAY better than the phenegran. But it seems lately like it's kinda lost its luster and is not as efficient as it once was. I just got a sprite and am trying to sip my way through that. Anybody have any suggestions? Do you think its from the ulcers?
