zofran and pregnant women

I've been doing a lot of searching on the web about this drug and now I'm scared to death to take this drug!! My doctor keeps saying to take it if I'm sick/throwing up still and I've seen on other forums women who say they took it and there baby was fine but then on other websites u see all these lawsuits women have filled bc of the side affects and u see how its hasn't been approved for pregnant women!!!????

I saw a commercial today saying that if you were pregnant and took zofran that you and your child could get a financial compensation. The Zofran caused the baby to get cleft pallet. Has anyone heard of any issues with zofran?? I was on that for the longest time for my sickness!

Im in a group on facebook coz my baby has a heart condition and a lot of the women on there have ongoing lawsuits as they believe zofran has caused their babys to have heart defects..never took it myself and no heart problems in either side of our families and my baby still had this happen to her..docs says its just unfortunately one of those things that happen...a lot in the group though truly believe its zofran that caused their babys condition though..

I personally have known multiple women who took zofran while pregnant and their babies are perfectly healthy. Chances are your baby will be perfectly healthy as well.

my daughter is 33 and about 6 weeks pregnant. Gets dry heaves and vomiting She is also being weaned off of Paxil. Can't seem to keep anything down. what can she do and is this normal??

My doc said the same. But I can definitely understand as women we'd rather be safe than sorry. It seems we have so much to worry about trying to stay healthy for our babies! Such blessings!

in pregnancy as no pregnant women wants to put herself forward for testing but zofran has been used on millions of women with severe HG with very little effects. I am in UK and unfortunately our options for HG treatment is more limited than in Canada/US. Also the person who commented on the increase of cleft palates after being treated with zofran, studies have showed an increase in cleft palates in women who have taken zofran AND women who took none but had HG.

Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant almost 7 now and I have had the worse nausea of my life. Not much of throwing up just nausea. I was prescribed Zofran to help with that but I have found that a lot of women who have taken it have had their child born with deformities. Has anyone taken this medicine before???

My doctor and I agreed that the benefits outweigh the risks. Zofran for pregnant women has been available for almost 20 years if it was as bad as they say we wouldn't have just been hearing about ambulance chasing lawsuits. I had severe morning sickness with my daughter to the point I couldn't keeps down spoons of water eve for my entire pregnancy I was on it so me and baby didn't die. This time around u was o. It until I was 22 weeks along. My children are perfect.

So I've been seeing all this negative stuff about zofran causing all kinds of birth defects to unborn babies. I'm 30 weeks pregnant & I've been taking zofran my entire pregnancy, so it's worrying me. Has anyone else taken zofran? What are your opinions on it?

I was given some pills that were tiny white and had a pink pregnant women that was printed on them I just cannot remember what they were called

If you were willing to try medicine, your doc came prescribe something called Zofran, its an anti-nausea pill that they give to a lot of pregnant women. Ask your OB about it. It saved me Lol. Good luck in the rest of your pregnancy!

I am 14 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness has suddenly increased very bad I called thr dr today and the nurse gave me a prescription for zofran so far it's helped me and it says there are no side effects to me and my baby but some thing I was reading online says about causing cleft palates has anyone else taken this and is your baby perfectly fine?

I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.

Zofran was my life savior it was the only thing that made me be able to get up out of bed and eat my baby girl arrived. 2 Days ago and is healthy and beautiful!

Hi ladies, I just heard on the news yesterday that they are stopping Zofran for pregnant women because it causes cleft palates, heart murmurs, still borns and more. Zofran isn't suppose to be used for pregnant women but for cancer patients. It was never meant to be consumed by a pregnant woman but the pharmaceutical company paid off a lot of doctors to give it to pregnant women.

this is my first pregnancy and I'm experiencing severe nausea. I am taking zofran. Any other remedies to help?

t take that all their doing is striking fear into already pregnant and hormonal women when it is unnecessary. If I were to get pregnant again after this one and have morning sickness would I take zofran again....heck yes I would!

ve taken Zofran, and it was the only med helped me with my nausea. I talked to my doctor about it cause I did see the TV commercials about it but my Doc said that patients that had taken Zofran had healthy babies so I'm not to worried. Besides can't believe everything you hear.

t see how they can even prove it was the zofran that gave there babies birth defects. So many women take it and don't have babies with birth defects...

♡ first and foremost Congratulations! I have the same thing and I'm taking Zofran. I have heard and read numerous articles and talked to my Doctor and other doctors about my concerns. Seriously at first I didn't want to take it and I waited as long as I could. Now I'm almost 17 weeks pregnant and still suffering from morning sickness ect and have continued to loose weight and have to be hospitalized because of it and Zofran seems to work the best.

Ok im sure all of us have heard by now about the risks of taking zofran while pregnant and how their is a large lawsuit being formed from women who took zofran and their child was born with cleft pallet or lip. I am now 27 weeks and 4 days. I remembered that when i got in a car accident back in November i was perscribed perkaset for pain, and ondansentron (zofran) for nausea from taking the perks. At that time i was either 12 or 13 weeks.

t want to take it anymore since zofran is not really for pregnant women anyway, but instead a nausea medication for chemo patients.
