Avatar f tn Also, the study being referred to above is the ENHANCE study that did not find that the addition of Zetia made Zocor more effective. In fact, ENHANCE showed that the addition of Zetia to Simvastatin showed no additional benefit.
Avatar n tn For two years I took Zocor for the purpose of lowering my Cholesterol. When I complained to my doctor about my body aching all over she suggested I discontinue using the Zocor for several weeks. As time passed I realized a lessening of body aches so I decided not to go back on the Zocor. It has now been 5 months since I have taken Zocor. Meanwhile, I have been losing weight (about 5 pounds) without changing my diet. I realized that my pants were baggy in the thighs and seat.

Avatar n tn Has anyone had problems with statins (in particular Zocor) causing an exacerbation of ocular and nasal allergy symptoms? I started Zocor 6 weeks ago, and after the first week, my eye allergy symptoms (conjunctivitis, scleritis, eyes watering, etc) got much worse. By the end of last week, my eyes were tearing to the point that tears were running down my face most of the day, and my vision was blurring. I had also developed constant sniffles. None of my allergy meds gave any relief.

Avatar f tn In mid December 2007, I was rushed in again due to a different artery being clogged. Both times the cardiologist blamed it on Zocor 80mg. I was put back on Lipitor 80mg after the October event. They additionally informed me that the arteries were all under 45% clogged after the October intervention, There were hematoma and femoral nerve palsy after the October episode as well, so they went through the wrist in December. Can an artery clog wthin two months?
Avatar n tn And the last couple of days my side has been hurting, throat and I have swollen gland in my neck.
Avatar f tn There is also a focus of deep white matter in the posterior left frontal region. My primary care physician told me there is damage and narrowing of the arteries; prescribed Zocor, diet, exercise and blood tests. I am 62-years old, a nonsmoker or drinker. Avatar f tn I have also gained 30 pounds since my quintuple CABG back in September 2007. I am also on Zocor, Aspirin and Niaspam. Can Coreg cause any of these symptoms? Also, my HDL has not improved since my surgery. I'm stuck in the high 20's. I feel a lack of motivation and rarely exercise. I'm worried about the HDL. Both of my brothers have low HDL and my father died of a heat attack at age 66.
Avatar m tn Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart. In order for cholesterol to stick, there has to be a sticking spot.
Avatar f tn I was in the hospital with jaundice the Dr took me off zocor I'm also on klonopin I'm getting better but stll itch could the klonopin be causing it. I've never was told to stop taking klonopin.
Avatar f tn In general I am very suspicious about the statin drugs and the growing medical opinion that every body will be healthier on them. The muscle pain and weakness is a DIRECT EFFECT of the statins action physiologically. They interrupt the body's natural synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. Yes, the predominant (like 90%) form of cholesterol in our blood is what we make ourselves, NOT from what we eat. The drug companies have been very disengenuous about this.
Avatar n tn Its good that he took you off of the Zocor, as statins have also been linked to liver damage (which, I am sure, is why he took you off of it). I would guess that you are going to find that your enzymes start trending downward after being off the Augmentin and Zocor. I would suspect that the combination of drugs (which are known to be potentially harmful to the liver) could have caused the elevation of your AST...but that is just my guess.
Avatar n tn My husband, daughter and I recently met up with my mom and dad for a vacation in Florida. We flew in and rented a car for the trip. My father asked at least once a day if we liked our new car. We patiently told him we did not buy the car - it was a rental. It seems like new information doesn't get filed away correctly in his memory bank and, like a broken record, he keeps repeating his thoughts.
428155 tn?1203688894 Well here is an update; after a few months I have found the culprit: it was simvastatin (called "Lipex" in New Zealand), which my GP had prescribed me 2 years beforehand to control my cholesterol level. I stopped simvastatin and all fibrillations have disappeared. As I was taking simvastatin, I was in fibrillation 17% of the time; 1 month after I stopped simvastatin, the level was down to 0%.
