Just make sure that you are aware of the possible side effects and report them to your doctor so he can help weigh the benefits to the risk. Also, there may be other treatment options as well. Zocor is for lowering cholesteral down - however it too has bad side effects.. combined you must be in a living hell ! the daily Confusion , and focus and not being Alert - is a toprol side effect for sure ! Hows your Hair.. has it thinned out yet ? and have you Gained any Waight yet ?

Are there any natural medications I could use as an alternative? I have low blood pressure and my cholesterol levels are slightly over the normal range.
Avatar n tn But, if you have been taking Zocor for your triglycerides, you should have your liver enzymes checked esp. if your right side continues to hurt. If they are elevated from taking the Zocor, your doctor needs to discontinue this medication. I took Zocor for about a year, and it damaged my liver. Read about the side effects from all stain drugs. Avatar n tn The popping of capillaries could be due to high blood pressure. It could be the side effects of your blood pressure medications. Zocor too could cause this. Other than this it could be due to clotting disorders, low platelet count, fragile spider veins, deep vein thrombus, deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K, a liver disease or certain cancers. Avatar f tn I was to start taking interferon injections and read a lot of reviews (bad reviews) on the side effects. My reviews also lead me to a Dr. Wei de Ren in NY that has been helping hep c patients for over 15 yrs, with a 98% cure rate. Interferon is 30-40% at best. I am going to start his treatment within the next few days. I have a good feeling that Dr. Ren will not only stop this decease I have, but also help heal the damage to my liver, which interferon will not do.

Avatar m tn Hi, If you check the PDr (physician's desk reference) or any literature on statins -- you will find that part of the spectrum of side effects is liver damage, hepatic failure and death. So, please don't buy into any information to the contrary, i.e. that it can now aid in the treatment of the very organ that it is widely known to destroy. Good luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc. After statin therapy fails or is not tolerated, it is normal to try ezetimibe (Zetia), which you said did not work. The use of colesevelam (WelChol) is not high, and is often the 'last ditch effort' to lower cholesterol.

Lipitor in some women have produced breast pains or enlargement and even the manufacturers cannot explain that one. Still, I suppose it's cheaper than plastic surgery.
