Zithromax z pack

Common Questions and Answers about Zithromax z pack

zithromax

Avatar n tn Z-packs (azithromycin = Zithromax) have worked quite well for my daughter's strep infections. Z-pac is usually a five day course of antibiotic that lasts for ten days. I would recommend that if you are not feeling better by day five that you go ahead and call the dr's office and see what they recommend. You definitely want the infection to be gone by the time your antibiotic stops working. Some people take a steroid to help with the inflamation in the throat.
Avatar n tn I took her to the clinic to get tested and they ruled out BV even thought her family doctor assumed it was that. They insist that she has chlamydia and she gave it to me. They gave her a Z pack as well. Im just worried because i took my z pack on tuesday and im still having discharge. I drank a beer or 2 with my z pack later in the evening because i didn't know i could take alcohol with them. Now i'm wondering if the z pack didn't fully work on me.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia two weeks ago. I was given Z Pack. I took it. It seemed to work for a couple of days then the symptoms returned. Doctor gave me another Z Pack. Same thing. It worked for a couple of days and then the mychoplasma returned. Question 1: Why did Z pack not get rid of it? Question 2: I'm on Doxycycline now. Will that get rid of it? I'm terrified to even get out of bed for fear that I will relapse again. I want my life back. Please help.
5915949 tn?1396188227 They say its a class B which means there arent any studies whether its safe or not. 16wks and have a sinus infection and I'm wondering has anyone taken a Z-pack for antibiotics and had any complications?
Avatar m tn I am starting to get anxious about this because I thought by now the symptoms would have been cleared. Wednesday, my doctor prescribed me a zithromax z pack just as a precaution. Should I still be concerned? I am really not sure why I would still be having symptoms. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do.
524272 tn?1212314601 You may probably need an antibiotic. I've recently had an upper respiratory infection and my doc immediately gave me a Z-Pack (azythromycin) and it's helping. I still have coughing just not NEARLY as bad as I did. I spent many nights awake becuase of either my sinuses being so friggin clogged I couldn't breath or I was coughing myself silly. My insides hurt like crazy and I've peed myself so bad I got into the habit of just wearing a heavy flow pad to bed.
Avatar m tn I felt some tingling/burning in my penis starting the next morning but that could also be in my head/my anxiety. I had an extra z-pack at home so I took 1g of zithromax last night. I am wondering if I should go get a shot of ceftriaxone and/or penicillin just to make my anxiety go away. No other partners involved in the last few months so nobody to inform. Advice on this plan or suggestions on what else to do would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Perhaps you'd do better with a chest forum and find someone who looks at chest xrays every day. My knowledge only goes so far. Your xray has signs consistent with bronchitis -- that's what she's calling "dirty." She also has the advantage of having a listen to your lungs, and your other symptoms. Does she know what your lungs looked like before your complaint -- you may have a history at this hospital.
Avatar f tn And I have a pack of Zithromax with me , does is help to start the course of a z-pack Please help
Avatar m tn Unprotected penile/vaginal intercourse for less than 5 minutes total...no ejaculation. I took a 500 mg of a z-pack that day and followed it with 1.25 gms of zithromax the following day. Talked to her, she's never tested positive or been treated for an STD. I'd like to think my chances are slim but mentally I am a wreck. Both swore never to tell our spouses as we both realize it was a gross error in judgement but would hate for my wife to find out by testing positive down the line.
Avatar f tn I just finished a 5 day z pack that was prescribed for a sinus infection that was giving me severe headaches. My heart started to feel funny and I looked at the insert which said could cause irregular hearbeats. I've taken this medication in the past with no issue. I do not have any cardiac disease but I do smoke, should I just wait for about 5 days to see if once the meds are out of my system I'm ok, or should I go see a doctor or go to the ER?
Avatar n tn You should call your OB office to confirm that it is safe.
454221 tn?1259445739 I don't think that repeat bronchitis means that you are going to have lung cancer. It does seem like you have had many infections in a short period of time though...maybe he should get a sputum sample to see what kind of bacteria are there. If it is something that isn't sensitive to zithromax (z pack), then that would explain your repeat infections and would mean that you need a different antibiotic.
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
Avatar f tn I see a lot of people asking about z pack curing chlamydia/gonorrhea and the common response is “It has to be 1g at once to work.” I’m confused by this. 1 g is 1,500mg. The typical z pack is 1,500mg total over the course of 5 days. 500mg on day one and then 250mg the next four days. So my question is, why would it HAVE to be 1,000mg of z pack at once to work rather than also 1,500 over 5 days?
Avatar n tn I would not try to make this decision on your own. The Z pak is a different class of antibiotic altogether as it is Zithromax and the pack is just how it is packaged to give a complete course of treatment. Talk to your doctor about treatment alternatives for your UTI.
214607 tn?1287677559 I just got off of Zithromax, also known as the Z-Pack because i was so sick. And the doctors assured me it was safe. I also did research online about what antibiotics are safe during pregnancy. Maybe you could start there too. Hope you feel better!

Avatar f tn m still trying to fight off my bronchitis, and they put me on Zithromax (Z-pack). But I would definitely go to the urgent care or see your PCP first.
Avatar n tn Have you considered that whatever you're taking the Zithromax for could be the reason for your recent arrhythmia? Have you had a prior adverse reaction to mycins? I'd report this to the physician that presribed the Z-pak and let him make the call.
Avatar n tn Was prescribed a Z Pack taken in the 500mg first day followed by one 250 a day for respritory issue. NO change in penial symptoms. Along Ive had diarhhea for four months since this began. Never any discharge except a miniscule amount of clear one time. After a while the penile symptoms subcided. Went to doctor for the urine and diarrhea. He ran stool and urine sample which were ok. My question: 1 is are these typical urethritis symptoms?
Avatar n tn I have read that the risk of contracting an STD is low and that I should get tested, but is there anything that can be gained medically by taking a z-pack to try and prevent an STD from taking hold in my system? I expect you will tell me to wait to see a doctor first, but can the z-pack be used to keep an STD from developing before symptoms are noticed?
Avatar n tn I had strep and took a zpac during my first. Sounds like you caught it early...
Avatar m tn I was very sick in December and was prescribed a five day dose of azithromycin in the form of a Z-Pack. I was recently told by someone I had sex with that they tested positive for gonorrhea. I have had no symptoms and it has been over two months now. Is there a possibility that the Z-pack effectively treated the gonohrrea?
Avatar f tn Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.
