zithromax whooping cough

my son is almost 2 and was diagnosed with whooping cough about a week ago, and put on zithromax and its not really helping. We cought it early so I figured the meds would do some good, but thats not the case, my son wakes up every night coughing so bad that he cant breath and then he vomits. the doctors are saying this is pretty normal for whooping cough. But it is scaring the day lights out of me and I need some advise about what I should do.

But, we followed her treatment of Qvar and albuterol inhalers, oral steroid and even zithromax (because 3-4 weeks in it turned into bronchitis) and none of that helped the cough. In other words, the albuterol doesn't seem to do anything positive for him. Is this really asthma? His coughs do have a tendency of turning into bronchitis. They always have to get really bad before they get better. Considering this last for a month or two, it is very rough for everyone.

my 2 year old has had a cough for 3 weeks now it sounds like whooping cough to me but to my understanding you only get it once right this is the 3 rd time she's had a cough like this since she was born and there was a case of whooping cough at her daycare so could she have it? she doesn't make the whooping sound but does make a choking sound sometimes its so severe shes gasping right after she finishes coughing.

I got the flu vaccine and whooping cough vaccine about a month ago and I felt fine. I think you should get the whooping cough vaccine.

yes it sounds like whooping cough, you have my sympathies. The only thing that helped me ( I had a very loud whooping and would vomit and almost pass out with the coughing) was to take coedine regulalry, it was the only thing that helped to suppress the cough. you MUST rest as much as possible and drink plenty of water.

Thanks for these suggestions! I asked the doctor would he do a sputum culture but he said "They're not very accurate." I am definitely having less cough, both yesterday and today, but there's plenty of phlegm moving around in there, still, and I'm still getting some cough paroxym in the evening.

Sometimes our Dr's will ask if we have had the flu shot, and I answer no, and that we won't be getting it and they leave it at that. I haven't been asked about the whooping cough one yet though.

I have been advise by my doctor to get the whooping cough shot. I'm having trouble deciding if i should. I usually don't get shot like flu or etc.. my baby is due in January and u dint want to harm him by getting it or by not getting it. I'm guessing they are talking about the vaccine. What do you mean ask others to get it? Are you gonna ask everyone that wants to see the baby to go get vaccinated? You can maybe ask people that want to visit the baby if they have had the booster shots...and just make sure no one is sick when they visit. If anyone has a cough or anything tell them not to visit. I think they vaccinate pretty early for whooping cough so the baby should be protected.

I got both flu and tdap. Whooping cough is an epidemic where I live. I have my kids up to date on their vaccines, and my husband will get his tdap before the baby is born. I will also be limiting contact with anyone who hasn't got a whooping cough vaccine, until he gets his vaccine. There's a lot of "research studies" out there saying vaccines do more harm than good, but I don't by into it. Why put the baby at risk? That is my opinion.

If you are not vaccinated against whooping cough you can carry it and pass it to the baby.

Hello all! I am hoping there are some here with some knowledge about Whooping Cough. I went to the doctor on Monday of this week (5 days ago) and was told I probably have bronchitis, although if I didn't respond to antibiotics, he wanted to test me for Whooping Cough. He put me on Levaquin because I am allergic to Erithromycin. I have not improved significantly. I'm wondering two things... 1. Does it sound like whooping cough? 2.

It can't give you whooping cough. Its made with only part of a dead bacteria so there is no way for you to actually develop pertussis from the vaccine. There is also no way to shed the disease either which is another rumor people like to spread.

I got both. The whooping cough vaccine is not for you. It's too help baby. Whooping cough is fatal to infants if they catch it and they can't get the vaccine until they are 2 months old. If you don't get it while pregnant thats 2 months baby is unprotected. Plus whooping cough is on the rise because people aren't vaccinating.

It cost me $25 dollars to call my doctor and I sadly wont have that until Friday. I am 30+1 and dont want anything to happen to my baby girl.
