Avatar f tn I just read a report from Emory Health Care from an internist that my daughter saw and they think she could have lyme due to her Elisa test. They are waiting on her Western Blot. Her local Infectious Disease Doc ran one of those earlier and ruled it out even though she had some positives. She has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis hence the Remicade treatment. From what i have read Remicade can be deadly to lymies. Any help would be appreciated.
216175 tn?1226095585 I just recently was put on Metanx and have noticed that alot of the burning is almost gone. If this were Lyme disease why would a b vitamin supplement help? I have been on abx a few times over the past 7 years, and I don't ever remember that I had a herx at all. I am now recovering from the flu, and my doctor wants me to take zithromax for the cough that is lingering. I have never taken it before, I only ever took amoxicillin.
Avatar f tn Sounds like it's lyme related to me, lyme disease is known to cause skin sensations like "tingly" feelings although i've never read about one like you have. I don't want to scare you - but that sounds like it could also be related to a co-infection you received during the tick bite. However, symptoms can still develop while on doxycycline treatment as i've also had many new symptoms develop while on it.
Avatar f tn Only patients positive on both tests are considered to have Lyme disease. B burgdorferi culture is notoriously difficult and recommended only in rare circumstances, primarily in research settings and for patients with early Lyme borreliosis, atypical rash, and no history of antibiotic treatment, which rapidly aborts culture positivity.

Avatar n tn You should look for a Lyme specialist or Neurologist who knows about Lyme Disease.
Avatar f tn -- azithromycin (Zithromax) and atovaquone (Mepron) for 4 months -- clindamycin (Biaxin) and cefdinir (Omnicef) for 5 months -- stopped due to edema -- metronidazole (Flagyl) and azithromycin (Zithromax) for 4 months + 1 week -- stopped (dr's orders) due to severe intestinal inflammation from Flagyl Now 3 days after stopping the meds, I can feel the disease symptoms creeping slowly back, and want to figure out (before seeing my dr again) what tricks there are to tolerate these meds aga
Avatar m tn the supplements enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotics and the 2nd antibiotic (cefdinir) is to go after the lyme. we know there is nothing here to treat the cyst form of lyme but the Dr. didn't want to put me on any more medicines at this time.
Avatar f tn I am now going to be treated as clinically diagnosed Lyme Disease...... I cannot believe I finally have an answer... My doctor believes that since taking the doxy I have had improvement (left hand tremor is easing up) and also had some herxing, (my body feels like a battle zone, muscle twitching, extreme fatigue and my joints feel like at some point they are going to break off and separate from my body. I feel like I have a fever, but my temp. is 97.1, which is seen in lyme disease.
1297538 tn?1278546102 The LUAT was performed by the test’s manufacturer (IgeneX, Palo Alto, CA) on urine samples taken from 10 healthy volunteers who had no history or symptoms of Lyme disease. Each urine sample was divided into five equal fractions, or replicates, so that a total of 50 individual LUATs were performed. The LUAT results, unlike the highly reproducible IgG Western blot results, varied markedly. At least one urine fraction from each of the 10 samples examined tested false-positive.
1353650 tn?1429463374 We now have found out that his diarrhea is tied to the lyme disease. The lyme disease has made him prediabetic. We watch our carb intake every day, especially now that we are on so many antibiotics. You could probably eat kimchi and sourkrout. I am sure they would work like the apple cider vinegar. We eat a lot of stir fried veggies in olive oil and garlic. Fresh garlic is a great way to get yeast under control. I will talk to you later and try to send you some recipes.
Avatar f tn Also look for affinity groups such as the Florida Lyme Disease Association, which may have a list of Lyme specialists in Florida. I just searched on google for -- florida lyme disease association -- and got hits for several different Lyme organizations in Florida, with variations on the name.
1763947 tn?1334055319 My friend with Lyme-Babs-Bart also took Mepron and Zithromax. I believe Mepron is the first and best choice, but other anti-malarials can be used if it doesn't work out well. I am glad you tested positive. I am not glad you have it, but I have heard many stories of people who had it for a long time and were testing negative. Less than half test positive, so that's a good thing. You should start feeling better soon.
Avatar n tn Sometimes people with an autoimmune disease are later diagnosed with Lyme disease. Have you ever been bitten by a tick??? I gradually developed stomach problems about seven years ago after being bitten by a tick. I've tested negative for lyme every time (PCR test) but I'm now on IM Rocephin as a "challenge". I'll get my final lyme test done after that round of antibiotics.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I've been treating for Lyme or possible TBIs and because of odd reactions I was told to stop the abx to see how I'd do. Well I was sort of left hanging. I'm fine now but I was thinking about pulsing these abx I have left in with some Flagyl. I've read Doxy is good at forcing the bacteria into cyst form. And all I have is plenty Doxy and about a months worth of Zithromax in addition to the Flagyl. I've been taking Doxy for a week.
Avatar m tn My wife has had a swarm of medical issues this year dating back to January when she was diagnosed with melanoma. The melanoma was removed and a lymph node biopsy performed that showed the cancer had not spread. In July of this year she had a major root canal performed. Two weeks later she got a staff infection on her upper lip that took quite some time to treat. Shortly after that she noticed that she had swollen lymphnodes in her throat and numerous other symptoms.
Avatar f tn In the face of some elements of mainstream medical opinion, some doctors and patient advocacy groups [this means ILADS and LLMDs] ***claim*** that Lyme disease can develop into a chronic disease requiring high doses of antibiotics over long periods of time. However aside from the issue of terminology, some mainstream medical opinion goes as far as to assert that some Lyme disease cases can become "difficult to treat" if not quickly diagnosed.
Avatar f tn Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. If anyone knows or has heard their LLMD mention this please let me know. I just took my first dose of Flagyl, keeping my fingers crossed that I see some fantastic results!
Avatar f tn Well after the positive lyme test, their daughter refused to accept the lyme diagnosis and treatment for lyme. Why ? Because she was already addicted to painkillers and I think the lyme disease had by then affected her decision making (as well as all of the drugs she had been taking). This young woman had been taking so many painkillers, that when the producers and camera crew arrived at her apartment to film her, they found her unconscious on the floor.... glass shattered around her !
Avatar f tn Are positive Lyme Disease Titers registered in the chronic stage of the disease?
4451049 tn?1387153437 (grin) Hassler, 199145 -reported on two patients with antibiotic resistant Lyme disease that were treated with pulsed high-dose cefataxime with 2 days of treatment followed by 6 days without antibiotics over a ten-week period of time. One patient was symptom-free 6 months after antibiotic treatment, the other was improved and skin biopsies showed no evidence of Borrelia.
Avatar m tn Many docs say it is, but there is a substantial minority opinion that Lyme is a much more complex disease than run-of-the-mill infections and requires much longer treatment, because the Lyme bacteria have particular characteristics that allow them to evade a short course of abx: the Lyme bacteria have a very slow reproductive cycle, and antibiotics are effective mostly when the bacteria are dividing, therefore a longer course of treatment is called for, as is done in tuberculosis (usual treat
Avatar m tn I was tested for lyme disease over a year ago by my family physician. Test results came back negative. I was reading an article in a magazine concerning symptoms of lyme disease and everything listed as symptoms I seem to have. I am trying to find a specialist in my area who is knowledgable in this area. Should I have another blood test done to see if things have changed?
Avatar f tn And what I meant by doing another western blot is that ive read sometimes doctor give you a trail run of antibiotics if they are not sure if you have Lyme Disease and it might produce a positive IgG if I did have lymes disease...
