I did not think much of this again until approximately 3 days ago when I started experiencing what I think is swollen glands in neck, armpits, and groin coupled with headaches and itching. Today, I saw my doctor again and he prescribed 1 gram of zithromax. Here are my questions:
1. Based on the 2 grams of keflex and the 1 gram of zithromax, can I assume if I was exposed to an STD
such as gonorrrhea, chlamydia, or ngu that the aforementioned meds would successfully deal with them?

That sounds soothing but I would like to know what other kind of bacterial infection would necessitate a partner to be treated with Zithromax? ............Don't know how to broach the topic with him, he seems 'broken' over the fact that I need medication for something he has. Don't want to accuse him if he was honest and all he has is a bacterial infection but I'll like to know. Thanks a lot.
I was treated with cipro, with no results and then went to the ER and was given a shot of rocephin, a 1000 mg of Zithromax and prescribed doxycycline. The discharge went away, and the lymph swelling in my left armpit, left elbow and behind my left knee went down by about 1/3, but stayed swollen and irritated for over a year. I had unprotected sex after that with only one woman for a few months, but I always pulled out and never ejaculated in her.
She gave me an injection (Ceftriatone, I think - to cure an infection of the throat) and Zithromax pills as standard issue; she also took more swabs/cultures from the penis, anus and throat including a blood test and urine sample. One week later, everything came back negative including gonorrhea and blood tests for HSV 1/2 which was since I know I have HSV 1 from past diagnosis. Anyway, the doctor said she probably misdiagnosed me with gonorrhea and said I most likely had an NGU.
I was perscribed a single 1000mg tablet of Azithromycin (Zithromax). I took it at about 6pm and half way through the night, my neck (sternocleidomastoid near where it connects to my head) was very sore and swollen, my glands dont seem swollen though. Also felt sinus congestion and all around lousy. I have felt this way for over 60hours. Is this a side effect of Azithromycin? Does anyone have any other info for what might cause this?

went back to the doctor after another 2 days ang got prescribe zithromax 500mg once a day 3 days ago the symptoms stopped... now i check my pants and it seems i see some stains again... am i paranoid or am infected again? I dont wannt ho back to the doc since i dont want my parents to know id get scolded again...

Like so many other posters, I made a big mistake after a day of too much drinking.
Aug 19 - Local STD clinic did urethral swab (hurt like hell) and took urine sample. Told me its NGU – gave me generic Zithromax 1G one dose. Urine tests not back for 3 weeks. Told its not Gonorrhea.
Aug 22 – Feeling of really burning in urethra, NOT when I urinate but after – feels like something is still there and wants to drip out 1cm inside, itchy tip too on and off. Feels like I always have to pee, like something is still in my bladder but nothing, or little comes out.
Hi I was diagnosed with NSU but gonohrya and clamidya tests came negative was given the following zithromax , vibroymcin 2 weeks symptoms persisted flagyl 1g one week . Then prostate massage was administered and sample cultured and came back with negative bacteria growth . Urine cultural had high wbc . Curam 1g given for a week and doctor advised another week of curam as morning charge was present . He finally advised if curam did not do the trick I might need anti biotic for two months .
I talked to the original doctor and he made the comment that the Bactrim may have caused a false negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea and prescribed zithromax (1g) and a shot of rosephin as a preventative. I informed my girlfriend and her Dr. prescribed zithromax (1g) and a single dose of ciprofloxin.
Everything seemed to be ok but a few months later the prostate problems came back and I was put on a month of Levaquin.
I freaked out and thought I may have contracted possible STD so i requested some advice from a pharmacy the next day whereby they prsecribed 400mg cefixime and 2g Zithromax all to be taken at one go

I was given zithromax pills to cure an infection, the pills were to big for me to swallow so I let them dissolve in a little water, then drunk them. Will they have the same effect even though I did not swallow them whole????

I would like to know please if like a day or two following 1,5g single dose of zithromax can someone develop an itchy skin rash for 6 days with red spots on the torso and few pimples on the arms and legs, nothing on the face or neck.

I dated a guy back from October-December and we had sex about 5 times. I know it is not healthy to do this but I recently became paranoid and took 1g of Zithromax today just in case of a STD. I was tested before this guy and was clean. I am unable to get a STD test due to facilities closing pretty early and will get one in a couple months but do you think the 1g would have cured gonnoreha, chlamydia, and syphilis if I did have it?
I got the result when I arrived- and I tested positive. So I went to local doctor in Italy and he prescribed 500mg Zithromax (12 tablets) and said take one a day for 12 days... that seems a lot. I took one yesterday and one today... not sure what to do now! Most sites say 1000mg is enough!
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?
2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?

most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Zithromax Tablets:
Diarrhea; headache; loose stools; nausea; stomach pain; upset stomach; vomiting.

it went away but came back, so possibly the Zithromax is not strong enough to eliminate possible MG. Presumably if it was MG then 1g Zithromax was doing no good & it was now resistant against it. However I then was given a 3rd 1g & it went away for 4years. So is MG ruled out based on this as i didn't take Moxi or 5days of Zithromax prior to the 4years clear spell? Note: Doxy was also taken prior to the 4year clear spell but this isn't good against MG.
I received zithromax (azithromycin) for 5 days. (500 mg the first day and 250 mg day 2-5). The symptoms have improved, for example I no longer have the morning discharge that I had before and the stains in my underwear have almost disappeared. It is now 5 days since I took the last dose of zithromax. I still have some mucus strings and mucus debris in my urine. I did not have this before the STD so I know it is not normal for me.
