I visited a STD clinic was treated with 1gm of Zithromax,was tested for CHlamidia, Gonorrea, syph, HIV- all negative. The irritation cleared up in 3 days. 3 weeks later the irritation started again. I visited my family doctor, he put me on Cipro which did nothing. I visited the STD clinic again, got tested for everything again, and came out negative. They gave me 1gm of zithromax which cleared everything up after a few days- but the irritation came back after 2.5 weeks.
For a recent burning sensation in the urethra no discharge, a single 2gm dose is Zithromax is taken. The burning sensation still exist after 1 day of taking the dose. After how long this burning sensation usually disappears following a single 2gm dose of Zithromax? Should ibuprofen be considered as well? Should any other medication be considered?
based on fact it recurred twice having taken 1g Zithromax but on 3rd attempt of 1g Zithromax it went away for 4years? I.e If it was MG in first instance it appeared to be resistant to first two doses of 1g Zithromax so it would't have gone away on the third dose.
4) Could it be herpes? I have no symptoms. Should I get a type specific HSV test? Would it give a definitive answer for herpes?

I got tested and was given 1 gram of zithromax and 7 days of levaquin. That was on monday night i was treated and then that saturday morning I had unprotected sex with an uninfected partner. Is it possible I could have infected the partner? They told me the zithromax would wipe it out right away but it seems from reading these forums that that could not be the case. , next day as a precaution I was able to get a hold of 2mg of Zithromax ( from Pfizer ) and took 2 pills on day and 2 more pills yesterday.
My question is this, what are the chances of contracting chlamydia from receiving oral sex (unprotected) ?

Will the zithromax I took as a preventive measure be effective ? , i mean was it ok to be taken one day after such event assuming any illness takes certain time to manifest ?
Fearing that this data regarding amoxicillan is old and may not be a reliable medication for cure I ordered a zithromax package and on Thursday took 4 zithromax totaling 1 graham and on friday took the remaining two.
To this point I had mild urethritis only, Yesterday as paranoia has me in a tighter and tighter grip I bought a identigene Chlamydia and Gonorrhea urine test and mailed it off but will have to wait until weeks end for results.
For second visit, I was giving doxycycline again but this time it was one 100mg pill for 10days..After completing my second dose of meds I was ok for about a week before symptoms returned again. Instead of going back right away I waited another week to see if symptoms would just go away but they didn't.. So, I went back a third time and was giving zithromax and phenazopyridine.. I gave a urine sample everytime I visited the hospital. The first test was positive for chlamydia.

Such infections can be due to gonorrhea, chlamydia or can be a problem called NGU (non-gonococcal urethritis) in which urethritis is present but tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia are negative. The best way to diagnose this problem is with either a urethral swab specimen taken from the penis or evaluation of a urine specimen taken at the very beginning of urination.
I was diagnosed with chlamydia and negative for gon. in early July. Was prescribed Zithro 1 day dosage. Symptoms alleviated but still felt as if something was not right down there. I was also able to milk slight clear discharge from my penis I figured I'd wait it out to see if maybe symtpoms would go away. In mid August I masturbated and I got a really bad burning sensation/pain. Went to the ER and they tested for gon. and chlamydia.
Hello I recently had unprotected sex and about a week afterwards I developed urethritis with a usually clear and sometimes white discharge.. I did see a doctor and a urine test was performed, testing negative for ghonorea or chlamydia. My doctor seems unconcerned and didnt suggest any follow ups, which upsets me.

They gave you Zithromax for NGU?! I took 1.5g of Zithromax about two weeks after catching my NGU/NSU and I still have urethritis... Even after 12 days of Doxycycline it still hurts. The 'D-Mannose' supplement I started a day and a half ago seems to be helping, but everytime I think it's getting better, it comes right back. It's a b'as't'ard.
Maybe if I think it will get horribler and I will die soon, THEN it will magically go away.
but the tests say that I dont HAVE those 2 STDs! I now am on tobramax for my eyes....The NGU has been going on for about 8 days now, and the conjuctivitis for 5 days. Do you know what could be the problem? I went today to the urologist and had him take a swab of my urethra to test for Adenovirus. Could that be the culprit? How long will this last?! Im going insane!
I guessed I was incredibly unlucky to have caught this as a one off and after 6 months of agony (Reiters, Urethritis etc) I finally got 1g of Zithromax as a last resort as I nearly had a nervous breakdown as all tests came back neg and I ended up being told the symptoms were psychological yet I knew they were not and that it was something to do with that encounter. I nearly lost my job and my marriage in the end until I got treated.
It was all cleared up finally and has gone away since then.
What is the proper treatment for NGU or just Urethritis? Is 1gm of Zithromax the preffered and correct treatment? Or is another medication better?
