I want to ask if any one have information about tonsillitis in early HIV infection,And how it is common?? ,i looked to many forums ,several people develop tonsillitis after unprotected sex and fortunately most of them, their test come back negative for HIV ! and i am one of them who got Tonsillitis after exposure.
However, 1-2 days after receiving oral, I had a lot of yellow spots on my tonsils and became very lethargic with a lot of malaise. I saw an ear nose and throat doctor and was diagnosed with tonsillitis. It was left for a while, but I continued to fell horrible so I was given a 3 day round of Zithromax. Within the first 24 hours, I felt almost 100% better.
By the 12th day, I had a fever and a painful throat, I went to the hospital they did a swab test and told me it was a virus so they prescribed a spray. After 3 days, there was no improvement so I went back, they ascked me to open my mouth again and realised it was too big and they could tell I was in pain.
Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Recurrent tonsillitis is an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections. So, discuss this with your doctor it may prevent the repeated episodes. And the procedure is actually easier to do for an adult as the diameter of the oral cavity is larger.
I had an extreme (Unprotected virginal sex with infected partner)exposure about 12 weeks ago, immediately went on nPEP within 24 hours,finished my nPEP more than 6 weeks ago,i last tested using antibody test at juss more than 10 weeks from exposure and just more than 4 weeks after last dose of nPEP and was negative( i prolonged my nPEP,took it for 6 weeks unsteady of 4 week out of ignorance thinking it might help)
my problem is since week 4 after exposure i have been having a mild sore throat,
Before all of this I was a healthy person, never had tonsillitis nor a geographic tongue nor a chronic cough. My CRP and ESR levels have been fine all the time (even during the tonsillitis). Other blood tests were all fine as well. They did multiple swab tests (candida and some viral test they said), all negative. Chest x-ray was negative as well.
I feel the doctors have done little effort to find the root cause for all of this and to find the right treatment.

Hi, i was diagnosed with chlamydia today in my local STD clinic, the doctor gave me 4 250mg Zithromax tablets to take which i did as instructed. A little later without thinking about it i drank one pint of beer. Genuine mistake. i was just wondering will the dose of Zithromax i took work now?
In 1966, while at Camp Pendleton Marine base, I became very sick with a sore throat, fever, chills etc. I went to the base doctor and was advised I had tonsillitis and they were too swollen to operate. I was sent to the barracks to rest. I was worse the next day and went back to the clinic. I was advised again that the doctor could not opoerate and that I should return to the barracks. That night I did not think I would survive.
I am really worried about Heart Rheumatism which is strongly associated with tonsillitis, especially that I am having chest pain ,difficulty to breath and my fitness is worsening (I become tired very quickly)..
I am also afraid of tonsillectomy (extraction of tonsils) which I may require >_<..

I gave an unprotected blow job about a week ago and now have tonsillitis and i am worried that my immune system is low because of infection and I got tonsillitis now. Could this be the reason why?

but this last few days i've been having cold face sweating especially in the evening and night, headache, and feeling very tired even after walking a few meters (my face would flush and sweat).
You never needed testing - You do not have HIV you can trust your results 100% if that was your only exposure.
Hello, I have a "chronic" sore throat (a pharyngitis and also tonsillitis to be accurate with a post nasal drip and tonsilloliths) for more than 2 years now. I have seen many doctors : ENT, immunologist, …. I have absolutely no signs of infection (no lymphadenopathy). I live healthy. I do sports (do not smoke) and I have no health phobia !
Recently i undergo few tests and found that my TSH level is 12.020. I went to doc and been asked to go for FT3 and FT4. Also he told me to start thyronorm - 25mg. Today i got the report which says T3, Free, FT3, SERUM @ 2.48 pq/mL and T4, Free, FT4, SERUM @ 1.29 nq/dL. Since last few years i have put on a lot weight and also feeling very lethargic. Past one years i have been suffered by acute tonssilitis. My question is : 1) What does TSH / FT3 and FT4 in my report suggest?
So where do I start. I’d never had tonsillitis before ever! And within a few months of turning 17 I got it and it never went! I had constant tonsillitis for months 9 to be specific and during that time I was back and forwards with antibiotics etc. During this time I also had two quinseys one other the space of a week, one over a course of a day(extreamly painfull) I visited A and E multiple times about this!
I still was not feeling well, so went to the dr. again on Saturday and she said I was really congested and had tonsillitis and gave me Omnicef. Today is Wedensday and I am really not feeling that much better and still have the white patch on my tonsil. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?
Hello~Even though there may not appear to be an infection anymore, it is still a good idea to have the issues causing it checked out. I would certainly see the ENT and have it taken care of. Having a hole in your tonsils and still some pus means it could flare up at any time, and this time, it could be worse.

I am 28 years old male ,before two months I got sever sore throat ,dysphagia and odynophagia ,with out any other symptoms like fever and and cough,but I had nausea and I lost weight ,6 days before that I had unprotected sex .so I am afraid of HIV tonsillitis .
Past history.i had history of recurrent tonsillitis in past 3 years but every time was not sever and returned back to normal after taking antibiotic .
