Avatar f tn Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.

Avatar f tn Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine, and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
Avatar m tn It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar f tn She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. She has experimented in cutting in the past, but yesterday she did it to the extreme resulting in numerous cuts to her arm. Is taking these four medications together a detriment to her mind set?

Avatar n tn Ziprasidone (Geodon) is a medication that must be withdrawn from very slowly. I would urge you, STRONGLY, to seek the advice of a qualified physician to help with this procedure. If you are unable to afford a doctors visit, please consult your local pharmacist in helping with your daughters withdrawl. Pharmacists are DOCTORS OF PHARMACOLOGY and can tell you the correct way to proceed. Please do not attempt this on your own.
Avatar f tn A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Avatar m tn Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago. Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Avatar m tn Cool , that's great new's them finding the right dose for you , sometime's that's all it take's instead of switching from med to med . Are you sleeping better now ? . As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.
672788 tn?1238120672 I have just started ziprasidone and I was wondering if anyone else has been taking this medication and how well has it worked? How long was it before you noticed a change?
Avatar m tn Methadone has a slow metabolism and very high fat solubility, making it longer lasting than morphine-based drugs. Methadone has a typical elimination half-life of 15 to 60 hours with an average of i would say about 22. However, metabolism rates vary greatly between individuals, up to a factor of 100 ranging from as few as 4 hours to as many as 130 hours, or even 190 hours. So it's hard to say.
Avatar m tn The water solubility of bilirubin allows the bilirubin to be excreted into bile. (Bile then is used to digest fats.) Total bilirubin, if I remember correctly, is the conjugated hemoglobin, since there is also another portion that is not conjugated. What the elevated total bilirubin means at this point is 'something' is going on, but you may need more information before your doc can determine the cause.
Avatar n tn About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.
Avatar n tn They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.
Avatar m tn The main requirements for them are (1) high IFN-inducing activity, (2) absence of side effects, (3) wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, (4) broad therapeutic security and, (5) good solubility in water and biologic liquids. IFN inducers stimulate IFN production in different cells and organs, and that determines the strategy for their application. Amixin (OOO "Lancepharm," Moscow, Russia) induces IFN-?/? production mostly in T cells. Cycloferon (NTFF "Polysan," St.
Avatar n tn However, factors that can affect absorption include oral pH, salivary enzymes, lipid solubility, and molecular weight (molecules may be too large to pass through the mucous membranes). A sublingual product, specifically created to ensure effective absorption, is recommended.
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
Avatar f tn I didn't notice any weight gain but again, everyone is different.and it isn't really know for that like ziprasidone(Zyprexa) is.
Avatar f tn I've noticed 3 days taking just 40 mg. per day of Ziprasidone (Zeldox) that my vision is very blurry (my eyes are bad at the best of times - wear special contacts & glasses) so this is very bothersome. It's listed on another site as a Common side effect, not an uncommon one....but I can't seem to see if it eventually goes away?? Would appreciate any comments ASAP before I see my doctor soon.
Avatar n tn (By the way, although losartan is currently being researched in Johns Hopkins clinical trials, other ARBs such as telmisartan are probably most effective given their increased lipid solubility and thus increased tissue penetration.) I strongly encourage you to visit www.marfanlife.net and find the very lengthy thread titled "Losartan" or something to that effect. Probably some of the most important reading of your life.
883607 tn?1241847511 I think that it's just two guys sitting together in a lab and then one motions the other over and starts snickering and goes "Hey, look at what I wrote on here for the name of this medication ha ha ha!" "Oh wow Ziprasidone, that'll really knock their socks off ha ha ha!
Avatar m tn the brain is affected quickly as alcohol will cross what is called the blood-brain barrier due to its solubility. this can compromise involuntary actions such as heartbeat, breathing and gag reflex. organs such as the liver and pancreas can suffer tissue destruction resulting in everything from lowered function and scarring to complete organ failure. for diagnosing existing damage, your doctor can order bloodwork including a liver panel to check things like enzyme levels.
