Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.
(have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have. Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine,and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago.Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Cool , that's great new's them finding the right dose for you , sometime's that's all it take's instead of switching from med to med . Are you sleeping better now ? . As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.

About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.
They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.

You say it's a bit tricky to get the "intermediates" right. Since posting I located an old friend out of town(who is a D.D. but no longer practicing) and he told me over the phone several things: 1) he never heard of "intermediates" for the type of denture replacement I described. I had a functioning set of dentures which were there to be used for control prior to the surgery - they were not.
It is probable that these cells could support viral replication because hepatitis B virus DNA replicative intermediates, viral transcripts and HBsAg and HBcAg proteins were detected in most. These findings may be relevant to the initiation of extrahepatic syndromes associated with chronic hepatitis B virus infection such as vasculitis, glomerulonephropathy, neuropathy and dermatitis.
Similarly, extensive analyses of intrahepatic woodchuck hepatitis virus (WHV) and duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) DNA intermediates under nucleoside analog therapy clearly demonstrated that cccDNA become the predominant form of viral DNA replication intermediates upon long-term suppression of viral DNA replication40 and 41. These findings strongly suggest that cccDNA is the most stable HBV replication intermediate and elimination of cccDNA is the key to cure HBV infection.
Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
I didn't notice any weight gain but again, everyone is different.and it isn't really know for that like ziprasidone(Zyprexa) is.

I've noticed 3 days taking just 40 mg. per day of Ziprasidone (Zeldox) that my vision is very blurry (my eyes are bad at the best of times - wear special contacts & glasses) so this is very bothersome.
