Common Questions and Answers about Ziprasidone in pregnancy

geodon

Avatar f tn Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.
Avatar f tn (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have. (i have until friday to research these meds and want to be as informed as possible) thank you very much in advance for your time.
Avatar m tn It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine, and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.

Avatar n tn Ziprasidone (Geodon) is a medication that must be withdrawn from very slowly. I would urge you, STRONGLY, to seek the advice of a qualified physician to help with this procedure. If you are unable to afford a doctors visit, please consult your local pharmacist in helping with your daughters withdrawl. Pharmacists are DOCTORS OF PHARMACOLOGY and can tell you the correct way to proceed. Please do not attempt this on your own.
Avatar f tn A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Avatar m tn s interesting that you mention this because it was never connected in my case. I had a lot of problems sleeping but related it to my new job. They've cut my dose down and now I'm not having so many problems. I did a lot better when I was on risperdal but it made me put on weight.
672788 tn?1238120672 I have just started ziprasidone and I was wondering if anyone else has been taking this medication and how well has it worked? How long was it before you noticed a change?
Avatar m tn Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago. Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Avatar n tn For the past couple years I have been on paliperidone which is generic for invega which I know can cause extreme weight gain. Couple that with my increasingly poor eating habits, I definitely ballooned in weight. For about the past two months I have gone on a heavy calorie restriction that I know is deemed to be unsafe and unhealthy. I want to say now that with respect, I would prefer you focus on my question at hand and not about telling me to eat more food than I currently do. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get a funny feeling in there head sometimes that feels like when you get the chills. I think its either from the xanax for maybe anxiety or panic trying to come thru. It does not happen often. My friend said she takes zoloft and gets its sometimes too. It bothers me because I don't know if its normal from the xanax or from feeling chilled sometimes.
Avatar n tn It may be my wishdom teeth comeing in. I ask a friend if they had any kind of pain pills for it. They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.
Avatar f tn ve heard from some people within my therapy group that bi polar 2 cycle more often and have more depression than mania/ hypomania which can be a big risk factor for suicide as a group member died a couple weeks ago . And this one lady spent 3 weeks in hospital with manic psychosis and she is bi polar 1 but she now has been stable for over a year .
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
Avatar f tn t taken an antipsychotic all these years though I wish they had caught up with the tardive in time before it progressed this far. But with new treatments in the works for schizophrenia such as the glutamate antagonists (of which I'm on glycine as a study compound and fully recovered) hopefully people with schizophrenia won't get it anymore after they become medications. And right now I'm recovering well with the rhodiola as I've mentioned as well as the Tizanidine.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed 1mg of clonezapam to take nightly in the attempt to combat the anxiety. So far no luck and honestly not feeling all that good either. Still getting depressed, serious rumination, hateful self worth. Not good. I know i need to switch, and i think maybe going back to the seroquel may be it. I remember being more stable just hated the weight gain. Ideas? options? new meds?
883607 tn?1241847511 Most pharmacists also are so busy that they only have time to verify the meds in the bottle against what is in it and read the possible side effects if needed by a patron. They are too busy, at least the ones I have met, to know or discuss psych drugs with you. You are better off looking up the drugs on the net yourself. As for most drs, they know most of the meds but tend to listen to drug reps and prescribe they newest, most expensive meds.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.

Avatar f tn You can read through my other posts. I have updated information in them. I do hope more neurologists such as the researcher I saw from Columbia University who did the presentation where I learned about it find out about rhodiola as a treatment for tardive dyskinesia and put it into practice. When you start on it post how you are doing.
520191 tn?1355635402 I read and interpret the words in almost a language made just for me. Usually they come in messages from God or a deceased person. It is very strange because I truly believe it at the time it happens. It is annoying yet intriguing at the same time. I have also read like you where I think God doesn't want me to read what I'm reading so he doesn't allow me to be able to read it.
