geodon

Avatar f tn Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.

I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
Avatar m tn It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar f tn She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. She has experimented in cutting in the past, but yesterday she did it to the extreme resulting in numerous cuts to her arm. Is taking these four medications together a detriment to her mind set?
Avatar f tn I want to know the reasons behind hyperprolactinemia being more common in women than in men
Avatar f tn Hi there. The causes of hyperprolactinemia are disinhibition due to pituitary stalk compression or reduced dopamine levels or due to excess production from a prolactinoma. Certain drugs like minoxidil, physiological causes like pregnancy, breastfeeding, mental stress and hypothyroidism. Drugs, which block the effects of dopamine at the pituitary or deplete dopamine stores in the brain may cause pituitary to secrete prolactin.

Avatar n tn Ziprasidone (Geodon) is a medication that must be withdrawn from very slowly. I would urge you, STRONGLY, to seek the advice of a qualified physician to help with this procedure. If you are unable to afford a doctors visit, please consult your local pharmacist in helping with your daughters withdrawl. Pharmacists are DOCTORS OF PHARMACOLOGY and can tell you the correct way to proceed. Please do not attempt this on your own.
Avatar n tn It can be caused (in some cases) by a hormonal imbalance from your birth control and can also be a sign of other underlying issues such as a Thyroid problem or hyperprolactinemia. See your doctor and they will be able to check each thing and see what is wrong.
Avatar f tn A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Avatar f tn When you have high levels of prolactin in your blood ( a condition called hyperprolactinemia) , you will not ovulate and this will result in infertility. This anovulation can also cause you to have irregular cycles. Normal levels. Prolactin levels are measured using different units in different laboratories, and this can cause considerable confusion. Traditionally, prolactin levels were measured in ng/ml, and normal prolactin levels in women are less than 20 ng/ml.

Avatar m tn Cool , that's great new's them finding the right dose for you , sometime's that's all it take's instead of switching from med to med . Are you sleeping better now ? . As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.

Avatar n tn About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.
