I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off. I feel terrible like I'm about to bust out of my skin cause I'm so fat now.
i am currently taking 10mg of olanzepine, and 200mg carbemazepine per day for bipolar. i am seeing a new psychiatrist who is strongly suggesting that i stop the olanzepine because i have greatly elevated levels of cholesterol and have gained 50 pounds. (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have.
I take 20 mg of Geodone and Fluoxetine for depression. I forgot to take it one night and didn't sleep at all and later in the day, I began freaking out about my hands. It made no sense, but it brought me to tears because I thought something was wrong with my hands. I started bawling and couldn't stop, I was completely terrified. Was that from not taking my medication, or something different? Thanks.
So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.
m finding out probably depression and I probably mistook what depression is from bad descriptions to me and being apparently misdiagnosed with major depressive disorder earlier in life but I took them both for a psychotic disorder instead of a mood disorder. I don't know about Abilify but I know I read Geodon had the potential to send people into a state of mania. "Ziprasidone is known to cause activation into mania in some bipolar patients.
he prescribed me a lager dose then i would have thought..60 mgs anight for 2 weeks then 120 mgs the same..tell me about the heart abnormalities from this geodon that a possible effect of arrhythmias..this can be fatel....when i took serquil 2 yrs had to stop it for tachycardia....so yes im suppose to be taking this tuseday night.came here to get some facts..or someone to explain these effects to me.. I CANT WAITE ANY LONGER..I HAVENT BEEN ON ANYTHING SINCE 12/.
She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. She has experimented in cutting in the past, but yesterday she did it to the extreme resulting in numerous cuts to her arm. Is taking these four medications together a detriment to her mind set?

my daughter has been on geodon for a year now. She is now going to wean herself off of it. reducing the dose each week. can anyone tell me what they went through and what to look for??
I didn't notice any weight gain but again, everyone is different.and it isn't really know for that like ziprasidone(Zyprexa) is.
I know this is really hard, not just for those with psychoses but also for those of us with depression and anxiety, but trying to solve a problem by creating another problem isn't really gonna do the trick.
A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Yes , this stuff sent me crazy irritable and restless i could not sit / lay still for more then 5 second's it was terrible worst med i ever been on aswell as Effexor .
They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.

Fortunately, most people can avoid tardive dyskinesia by not taking medication that causes it. However, for myself (not something you have of course) in having schizoaffective disorder I needed an antipsychotic and all of them except for Clozaril (which causes blood dyscreias and needs constant bloodwork and can be dangerous
and something I couldn't tolerate) can cause it.
I have been on Zeldox for the past 4 months along with Celexa. Before that cocktail i was on 300mg of seroquel, and working my way off of effexor. My reason for switching to Zeldox was because of the low instance of weight gain, and getting off effexor was a must as it made my mania worse. My problem is this. Constant anxiety waking up anxious, having the most minimal tasks like taking a shower cause anxiety. Always there is some kind of anxiety.
I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. I've heard nothing but horrible things about Zoloft. Is there anyone that has takin it during their pregnancy? What is your opinion and experience?
I've dealt with depression for most of my life and have been medicated for the past year. I have been off medication for the duration of my pregnancy but due to some family issues and stress, I've been really struggling. Is there anything anybody here has done to help lift their spirits? I really don't want to go back on medications during my pregnancy, and I seriously will try anything to feel better.
