Avatar f tn She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. She has experimented in cutting in the past, but yesterday she did it to the extreme resulting in numerous cuts to her arm. Is taking these four medications together a detriment to her mind set?
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine, and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
883607 tn?1241847511 I just think that life is difficult enough as it is without these confusing names dreamed up by marketers at drug companies. Like there has been a case where a 19-year-old man almost died after he was given clozapine instead of olanzapine. I also read an FDA report stating that about 10 percent of all medication errors reported result from drug name confusion.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.
Avatar m tn s with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.
Avatar n tn About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.
Avatar m tn It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.

Avatar n tn Ziprasidone (Geodon) is a medication that must be withdrawn from very slowly. I would urge you, STRONGLY, to seek the advice of a qualified physician to help with this procedure. If you are unable to afford a doctors visit, please consult your local pharmacist in helping with your daughters withdrawl. Pharmacists are DOCTORS OF PHARMACOLOGY and can tell you the correct way to proceed. Please do not attempt this on your own.
5954444 tn?1377473390 Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates). At home, the basic technique is to space out the pills you take on a consistent manner until you take only one at night, then half at night, than every other night and then none.
Avatar f tn A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, you might just have to request a med change it this is indeed the culprit. Maybe explain your side effects/ symptoms to your doctor and request a drug that is second best when it comes to avoiding weight gain, or even an alternative if you're using the AP as a mood stabilizer? I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with so much unnecessary anxiety, I've been there. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago. Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
672788 tn?1238120672 I have just started ziprasidone and I was wondering if anyone else has been taking this medication and how well has it worked? How long was it before you noticed a change?
Avatar n tn I did not want to take the medicine, but realize that i did suffer from depression and other things, and for me this drug really works, and it does not make me feel high or groggy (maybe for a little while in the beginning) but it all leveled out, now looking back at my life i realize that i do need this medicine, and if i could not take the zoloft i would be trying to find something that works, that is how much this antidepressant has changed my life......
Avatar n tn I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor. Avatar f tn HIV is only transmitted by unprotected sex or by direct exposure to blood, like when sharing needles for drug injection. It is never transmitted by razor blades in barber shops.
941118 tn?1312281926 - He says I do not need a hospital induction for this drug. He told me that in people without heart disease this is a good drug (same story I heard when I successfully took rhythmol). My questions for you guys and I guess my cardiologist on Friday. Should I try it? If I do, do I need to be in the hospital? Should I have more tests first? Is a stress echo the same as an echo? Do I need another Holter and what DOES my Holter reveal for heaven sakes???

Avatar f tn Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.
Avatar f tn I took him off the lithium thinking that was the cause because after doing research sleeping all the time was something major with that drug. I was also thinking that it could be the Coreg because they up the dose last time he saw the doctor but that has had time to get in his system and not be the problem. What I am wondering is if it could be something else with the heart causing the problem.
