ziprasidone bipolar

i am currently taking 10mg of olanzepine, and 200mg carbemazepine per day for bipolar. i am seeing a new psychiatrist who is strongly suggesting that i stop the olanzepine because i have greatly elevated levels of cholesterol and have gained 50 pounds. (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have.

Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine,and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.

They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.

Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.

Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).

She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.

I have similar experiences when I am manic called ideas of reference. I read and interpret the words in almost a language made just for me. Usually they come in messages from God or a deceased person. It is very strange because I truly believe it at the time it happens. It is annoying yet intriguing at the same time. I have also read like you where I think God doesn't want me to read what I'm reading so he doesn't allow me to be able to read it.

t make you manic but good for bipolar depression? that are less likely to cause mania or psychosis? Or other medications that have been helpful for depression. My pdoc wants to put me on Effexor but my therapist doesn't think that's a good idea as can cause Mixed, mania, and psychosis in someone with those issues. So for the moment i said no. but can feel myself sinking into depression again. What do you think? What are you on if any?

A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.

Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago.Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.

Cool , that's great new's them finding the right dose for you , sometime's that's all it take's instead of switching from med to med . Are you sleeping better now ? . As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.

I have just started ziprasidone and I was wondering if anyone else has been taking this medication and how well has it worked? How long was it before you noticed a change?

I've noticed 3 days taking just 40 mg. per day of Ziprasidone (Zeldox) that my vision is very blurry (my eyes are bad at the best of times - wear special contacts & glasses) so this is very bothersome. It's listed on another site as a Common side effect, not an uncommon one....but I can't seem to see if it eventually goes away?? Would appreciate any comments ASAP before I see my doctor soon.

I know of four bipolar 1 with or without psychotic features, bipolar 2, bipolar nos, and cyclothimia. With bipolar 1 you get full blown mania and major depression, with bipolar 2 you get hypomania and major depression. cyclothimia fluctuates between minor depression and hypomania. Bipolar nos is where they put you when you obviously show some symptoms of bipolar disorder but they do not know which classification to put you in.

I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.

I am 15 (girl)and I think I have bipolar disorder...so today I went from pretty happy,to depressed,to manic and I couldn't stop talking and moving,and then back to depressed...this happens on a daily basis...when I'm manic I'm so unfocused and hyper but when I'm depressed I have thoughts of suicide and I also cut myself...
