Zetia and heartburn

Common Questions and Answers about Zetia and heartburn

zetia

I take Omeprazole for acid reflux/hiatal hernia, and I take Synthroid for hypothyroidism. I also take Zetia every other day for cholesterol. All of these are working well, but I hope they are not the cause of my Gastroparesis. I don't want to take anymore medications, especially the ones that are given for Gastroparesis. Since I don't have the usual symptoms, do I really need medication for it?
The throat clearing/catching sensation -- most likely culprits are sinus congestion or gastro-esophogeal reflux (may even be silent heartburn). In the absence of suspicious characteristics on ultrasound, family history of thyroid cancer or radiation exposure as a child/adolescent - would not biopsy the nodules -- simply check US every 6-12 months.

I am wondering if this could possibly be a flare-up of my GERD, esophagitus or perhaps an esophigal spasm? I do not have any heartburn, however I am frequently 'gassy' and belch alot during these episodes. I might add that I was treated w/ angioplasty & stents 6 months ago for 2 blockages. I take 50mg of atenolol daily (as well as asprin, plavix, lipitor 80, zetia lorezepam and enalapril)and I have read that this beta blocker can weaken the LES.
Crestor is a good medication in my opinion for aggressively treating lipid issues, and in combination with Zetia works well (I'm not a doc, just discussing my own experiences as a heart patient). I was on Lipitor for nearly 10 years (my TC was in the 450s in my mid to late teens) and it helped me from having an issue earlier. Are you diabetic? Controlling hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol are essential in combating CAD and its progression. Once you have it, it's there to stay.
Now the Cardiologist I saw today didnt neccesary think the same thing, he said there are lots of reasons for Chest pain, but could not specify one, ( I don't have heartburn, indigestion, panic attacks, pleurisy, pneumonia, chest muscle pain or pulled muscle, gallstones or stomache pain, these are the obvious ones. ) I think one thing that threw him off was the fact that my chest pain episodes do not have any particualr pattern, and occur at any time of the day without exercise stressors.
