Common Questions and Answers about Zelnorm side effects patients

zelnorm

Avatar f tn So from your information I see you are living in the US. Zelnorm was removed from the marked in the US because of dangerous side effects. It can cause severe diarrhea and ischemia of the bowel. You need to see your doctor immediately. This could be very serious and what you describe was why it was removed from the market.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doc about it. Check the government site about zelnorm, or the site for the company that makes zelnorm. It should give you more information. The extreme right-sided pain could be due to gallbladder issues. Talk to your doc about it.
Avatar f tn Many medical professional are not very adept at preparing patients for the side effects and/or intervening before they worsen. I realize it is a 50-50 kind of thing and the patient should learn as much as possible beforehand - though as you pointed out, it is a tremendous body of knowledge and rather overwhelming for a layman (which is what I consider myself).
Avatar f tn Eryththromyacin is one drug used for it but i am taking Zelnorm a prescription drug. It can have serious effects on me as with the slowed digestion i sometimes go low after eating when i shouldn't. But any GI doctor should be familiar with the disease.
Avatar f tn Hi Jennifer, How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have dealt with the effects of Heirschsprungs disease it seems forever. However as I'm getting older constipation is becoming more prevalent so I take Metamucil but it seems to make it worse. So then I take Miralax with it but I then I have gas ALL the time and with it, poop. I feel chained to the bathroom and of course never clean. Zelnorm was the beat solution and worked really well but then was taken off the market. What can I do to resolve this ever increasing problem?
697574 tn?1273955747 The manufacturer has by law to list all known side-effects on their product data sheets, even rare side-effects. Remember many people get through their treatment without suffering any major side-effects and hopefully this will be the case with you. So I would relax and forget it. If you worry about a decrease in libido, you'll definitely get a decrease in libido!
Avatar n tn Thank goodness depression is not one of the side effects I have. The only time I have ever taken Benadryl was in the hospital prior to blood transfusions.
Avatar f tn Drug side effects can occur years later which is why you see many drugs being pulled of the market. Clinical trials run for an average of 8 weeks on healthy adults. Plavix side effects: "Gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort has occurred in 27.1% of patients (compared with 29.8% of patients who were treated with aspirin in comparative trials). Other GI side effects have included diarrhea in 4.5%, dyspepsia in 5.2%, nausea in 3.4%, and abdominal pain in 5.6% of patients.
Avatar n tn I have IBS and have taken Bentyl and Zelnorm, my doctor took me off the Zelnorm because he said, it was a dangerous drug. Is this true ?
120574 tn?1240767840 Can anyone tell me what type of side effects you had with Avastin. Did you take it alone, or with a chemo drug?
Avatar n tn I am wondering if someone can tell me of some different meds that IBS patients use or things I can do to elevate the pain, or stop it from happening at all thanks
Avatar f tn sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Avatar n tn Are there any known side effects for Shen Calmer and Liver Happy Capsules? My dog has been taking them for about a week now. He is taking them for anxiety, no signs of relief yet, but no prescriptions have helped him so this is our last resort. The second day he vomited and the vet said she hadn't ever seen that so we have kept going.
Avatar m tn re on it (or even for the first two weeks or so) but this side-effect goes completely away with time. Also, it can make you lactate (yikes!). Otherwise, though, no side effects! You have to get it from out of the country, so you probably can't get it covered by insurance (I'm afraid I don't know too much about the workings of the VA), but it's only about 30 cents a pill. This stuff has been a huuuuge help for me.
Avatar n tn The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.
Avatar f tn My wife in the 2nd week of her 6th chemo session of carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. Most of the side effects are predictable and have been increasing in severity over the sessions. For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain". Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it.
Avatar n tn I always have bloating, cramping, spasms, discomfort in the left side that gets worse after eating or when I'm up on my feet. The problem is that it's always there. My diarrhea looks like its black mud in the toilet and sometimes it's green or yellowish. I had a urinary tract infection a while ago and my primary told me there was nitrates in the urine. An internal bleeding was suspected. I'm slightly anemic. I have seen a GI specialist.
