Avatar n tn The chicken is fine as it is protein, but the corn and the plaintains are quite high in carbs for a portion. Its a starchy vegetable. Check the glycemic index or a carb counter book. You can find this info online. I love corn also, just dont have it to often anymore.
Avatar n tn The trick for we humans is to get the essential amino acids we need from the protein we eat. It is a neat trick to do to be able to get the same amino acids from veggies as you would get from a steak from veggies as simple as rice beans & corn :-) of course eggs are the 'perfect' source of protein & amino acids, that all other food sources are measured by, and if you aren't allergic to eggs, I think 1 egg a day is enough to keep you with the amino acids you need each day.
Avatar n tn I have had very odd palpitations when consuming whey protein since 2001. Since 2005, it appears that other foods (wheat gluten, rice, corn products for example) cause or exascerbate a whole different palpitation. I haven't noticed this on any message forum before. Has anyone experiences something similar? Food, specifically a few types of protein seem to have caused me major problems.
Avatar f tn With respect to earlier posters, thus far, there is no evidence whatsoever that genetically modified foods have differing absorption or allergenic properties, with the exception of when transgenic foodstuffs are made using foreign proteins when you've already got an allergy to the specific protein that is in question. In your question, you mentioned that you had a problem dealing with processed corn products, while organic, unprocessed corn seemed to give you no trouble.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem my Dr told me to eat lots of protein and eat high protein snacks. I'm already on a high fiber diet because of digestive issues. It actually helped a lot.

Corn germ meal is a protein-rich by-product left over after milling corn meal, hominy grits and other corn products. The third ingredient is meat and bone meal, a dry “rendered product from mammal tissues, including bone, exclusive of blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents”.
19669595 tn?1482162708 Every time legumes like beans, Lentils and peanuts are combined with wheat, rice, or corn a complete protein is created and there are many good recipes on the internet that incorporate these into a tasty dish, where you might not otherwise like them by themselves. You might also like protein shakes from whey or soy, plus there are various protein bars that do not use animal products. Be sure to read the ingredients before buying them. Seitan is another popular protein source of vegetarians.
1986130 tn?1326767295 Yes it is possible she could have some food allergy. Soy, wheat, corn and beef are often the main culprits, though it's not aways those ingredients, and sometimes can be the rest of the "junk" that goes into commercial store-bought dog food, including colourings, flavourings, etc. or some of the other dubious ingredients.
Avatar m tn You need 12-20% Protein but because you are bodybuilding you can up the percetage a little bit. Protein is in all meats, eggs, and there is some protein in nuts, seeds, yogurt, beans, and a few others. Carbohydrates 60-65 % you need complex carbohydrates like whole grains, and fruits and vegetables are excellent. Carbohydrates give you fuel (energy). Fruits and veggies are great but are not calorie dense so be sure to eat more that just a fruit at a time....
Avatar f tn I started using this to benefit from the Omega-3s and to help with irritable bowel. It has really helped cut down on the gut pains. But I also soon noticed that the practice kept me more regular than anything else I've tired. I do also take a softener twice a day. As a side, I have my horse to thank for introducing me to the wonders of flaxseed. I noticed how improved her coat and hooves were after starting her on it. The company made human products too so I gave it a try.

Avatar n tn Did your husband have a growth or something on his kidney? or just high protein levels? What were the symptoms of what he has, if there were any? It sure scares me to think that something could really be wrong with me. I mean, the diabetes was a shock...I have 4 little ones and i want to be around for them! :( I am going to try to get into the doc today and find out something. Keep your fingers crossed for me! (please) and I hope your hubby is ok.
Avatar n tn When you consider the influence of the inferior protein-enhancing corn gluten meal, this is the profile of a kibble containing only a limited amount of meat. Plus it’s difficult to ignore the unusual abundance of so many Red Flag ingredients. Yet to be fair, the package and the website are truly exceptional. Beautiful, actually. A marvel of modern marketing. You know, it’s a real shame Beneful’s quality never approaches the quality of the bag it comes in. Bottom line?
Avatar m tn Lean meats such as venison or buffalo are much healthier than getting your protein from artificially fattened cows or chickens, so try to stick to naturally raised animals. In the vegetable world, beans have the most protein, and soy beans have the most complete protein of any bean. You can complete the protein of beans by combining it with a whole grain.
Avatar f tn I didn't have to fast either they said to eat protein. Like maybe some eggs and toast.
Avatar f tn High protein and high fat. Low carb. And whole grain. Try Ezekiel breads. Stay away from white bleached flour. Eggs are great. Red skin potatoes are good too.
Avatar n tn How are you? Are you sensitive to gluten? Gluten, a protein found in cereal grains such as corn and wheat, can also cause a kind of dermatitis. Is there a poison ivy, poison oak or sumac near your place? The oil from these plants causes an allergic reaction also similar to your symptoms. It is also important to rule out scabies as this rash itch intensely, and may be found in the hands, or between the fingers.
Avatar f tn I have also developed a habbit of blocking my ears with my hands to avoid noise in my industrial neighborhood by applying pressure on my earleads. What could be the ptoblem.
Avatar n tn The ones I imagine you would most likely have problems with would be the ones with the protein in them called gluten. The ones you're most likely to encounter that contain gluten are: barley, rye, kamut, spelt, triticale, teff and oats. This is addition to the known allergen, wheat. If you find that gluten is the problem and not just the wheat itself, then you are automatically lactose intolerant. The two problems go hand-in-hand.
Avatar m tn My question is can consuming protein and gaining weight help fill in the areas of my face where I have lost fat recently? Would consuming a fast-absorbing protein or slower digesting casein protein be better? Is my lack of sleep somehow related to this? Some eastern medicine literature suggests lack of sleep causes the face (the temples in particular) to hollow.
