zegerid vs zantac

I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.

I was using ranitidine (generic for zantac). I was having horrible stomach pain and dr told me to try zegerid....and holy smokes its awesome!!! Expensive but good stuff $23 for 42 @ target.

I get that and to me it feels like a tight, gripping feeling. I don't know if it related to any kind of acid reflux but I do know when I take a Zegerid in the morning it doesn't happen. The confusing thing is I have a pretty bland diet these days so it's not like I am eating super hot & spicy food. And you can be sure nothing high in fat! Zegerid is a proton pump inhibitor so it or any H2 Blocker you have in your medicine cabinet might help.

Hey! I'm glad to hear that he seems to be feeling better! I would be very careful with adding the rice cereal. Babies with MSPI can have a difficult time with rice (especially at such a young age). You might find it causes constipation and more discomfort in the long run. If his REFLUX is being properly treated, it's not a big deal for him to spit up. Yes, it's a mess and not fun to deal with...

My youngest (16 months) would cry a lot and would tense up her body and rear backwards. My ped gave her Zantac and that fixed the problem. My ped did that without me having to go to a GI specialist. The testing that they do (from what I have heard) is very invasive and I don't see the harm in your doc at least trying it. It just sounds so much like Acid Reflux to me.

maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?

Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).

I use zantac 2x per day and liquid rolaids... it helps most days as long as i stay on it. Although i am miserable this morning. Lol just do your research and try others till you find something that works for you. Most antacids/reducers are fine for you and baby.

Sometimes it sloshes around, sometimes it feels like if i burp it will come right back up, but i cant burp, i feel the air, but nothing comes up. I have ibs-c and gerd with gastritis. Im on Zegerid in the am and zantac in the pm. I started a new plan about the ibc-c and im going every other day. It just feels like the tube where it hits my stomach is cold/chilled.

With my gastritis, I do occassionally get sensations in my chest that seem to mimic heart-related issues but nothing like this. Along with my Zegerid I have also used Zantac 150, tried Prevacid as well as a bunch of over-the-counter antacids. I have even had prescription pain medicide prescribed to me to manage the severe pain I do get with this condition.

My question is how long until the Zegerid they switched me to will stop working too? I have also been taking Zantac the entire time as well. I have already been tried on all the others and they just don't work, so unless something new comes out and my trend continues, my fear is that I'll be sunk with chronic issues that just won't heal.

I started taking Zantac 150 and it seemed okay but I started have occasional nausea and sharp pains in the stomach area. My Internal Medicine doctor advised the ulcer is being aggravated by the acid which is causing nausea and pain, the Zantac was not strong enough. She prescribed Protonix 40mg twice a day, I have been on that and feel great; no fatigue, no nausea, no pain!

Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.

i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?

I have never had an esophageal spasm but I do know by my own experiences (both as a nurse and a patient) that SOB occurs with angina and stays until the the pain from the tightened heart muscle ( blockage or spasms) is relieved by stopping an exertion or taking a vasodiolator like nitro. Cheetoh,take a zantac if you think it's from the digestive track. Zantac will not stop heart angina pain, but nitro COULD relieve the digestive discomfort.

I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?

Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.

Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.

I'm the type of person that eats anything and everything I have heart burn every day thou and ok I'll check with my doctor and see if she can give me something

I have been treating my GERD for 3 years with Zegerid. For the first 2 years it was my "miracle drug". About a year ago I began having what I called reflux "attacks" again, usually in the middle of the night. They would last anywhere up to 4 hours, during which all I could do was pace the floor and pray for relief. I averaged one attack a month; finally decided to revisit my gastroenterologist.

also an Gastro. Dr. They put me on heavy doses of Prilosec/ Zegerid/alkaline Diet-it made the problem so bad-I was miserable. Lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. From 175 to 160- I was buying my alkaline water at a health food store and let it slip about what my problem was-they immediately educTed me on these drugs that are designed for reflux -folks with this reflux-you are all going in the wrong direction. I had the cough/ slash throat clearing 24-7. W/ no relief.
