1364792 tn?1278051187 I started taking omeprazole for acid reflux but stopped it after reading about the side effects, anemia as it takes out vitamin b12,broken bones as it takes out calcium and a risk of severe cold infections as it takes out vitamin c.A local doctor links acid reflux with anemia,so I started taking multi vits with iron and the acid reflux disappeared.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
709686 tn?1277432159 I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
Avatar m tn I have been on them all, but not the ones with Sodium Bicarbonate like Zegerid OTc....I have been looking to find others who are now not responding to meds and what they are doing, I have found that Milk Thistle could possibly be of some help, I'll give it a try...
Avatar f tn If that does not work, try Pepcid, Gaviscon, Prilosec OTC, Omeprazole, Pepto, Zegerid OTC, Equate Acid Relief or Alka-Seltzer. If you do not want to go to the store, try a quick remedy-- baking soda or cold milk. And also, you can use PregEase. It treats morning sickness and heartburn. It is clinically proven a safe choice with natural ingredients, so you do not have to worry about anything harming the little one.
Avatar n tn Are there any side effects with this disease other than the outbreaks? I'm having an issue with vaginal lubrication and I was diagnosed 3 years ago. And I'm wondering if this virus could be the reason.
Avatar m tn The best way to prevent it is to not eat foods that cause acid reflux. However there are OTC medicines that can treat/prevent reflux.
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
Avatar n tn There can be side-effects with the use of PPIs - no drug is without side-effects unfortunately. They can include changes to bone density - more ease of fracture - and anemic states due to loss of B12 uptake. Changes in bowel habits and loose stools can be a result of the use of PPIs. If you cut down on acid, you cut down on the amount of food that's thoroughly digested and able to be absorbed. Those materials will cause changes in the output of the digestive system in a number of ways.
Avatar m tn Prilosec, Nexium Side Effects: Acid Reflux Medication Heart Attack Class Action Lawsuit Investigation A recent study found that proton pump inhibitor heartburn treatments such as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid may be linked to an increased risk of heart attack, heart failure or sudden cardiac death.
Avatar f tn It started with severe burning on the right side of my body and around into my back. I went to my Primary DR and she did all the stool and blood tests and all came back fine. I was in so much pain I went to the ER where they did a CT scan with die and everything was said to be normal except ovarian cysts that they asumed had ruptured. So I wert to my OB where they did an internal sonogram and that was not the cause becuase there was no fluid found in the area surrounding the ovaries.
Avatar f tn Nexium is just fine to take on treatment as is the other PPI's. My hepatologist ordered me Nexium during tx and then led me go to Prilosec or prevacid when the became OTC. And sense i'm now SVR there wasn't a problem with them.........
Avatar n tn ya,,i was on a med one time, and it did noting for me,,they said could take up to 3 mos to work!,,ive even heard of somethings that could take half a year to show any differences! id realy look into colitis,,,its kinda like gasteritis,,but worse.
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/rabies-vaccine-intramuscular-route/side-effects/drg-20069868 The CDC site isn't a whole lot of help and only recommends OTC pain relief: https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/specific_groups/doctors/adverse_reaction.html That probably won't help with the tingling, head fog, and fatigue. I don't know exactly how long these should last, but when is your last injection scheduled?
Avatar m tn Do you get a fast heart rate? I have SVT which causes me a fast heart rate at times and I'm told to avoid decongestants. I'm not saying decongestants have caused my SVT but could maybe be a trigger. Maybe there's a connection there? Side effects can be different for everyone. So I would definitely go see an expert (a doctor) if these decongestants are causing you these problems. You don't want anything to get worse.
Avatar f tn It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
Avatar f tn I have been battling a cold for 2 weeks. i just found out in 6 weeks pregnant. i took Nyquil, extra streng Tylenol, ibuprofen and advil p.m. im concern about the side effects. i haven't gone to my first appt yet so i haven't had the chance to ask the dr. any one in the same boat?
Avatar f tn He is not concerned and told me I do not have to return to him, though he has given me no insight into what it may be except a side effect of a medicine I was on. I have since stopped the medicine and the symptoms stopped too until yesterday when I had another "episode". I would like to know what this might be and if I should be concerned enough to either go back to that cardiologist or see another one. It is very disturbing and makes me uneasy when this happens.
Avatar f tn Just to add to what Desrt said..... make sure his thyroid has been checked also. often the meds can send it into hypothyroid and that has a whole host of symptoms. Sorry to hear of the relapse...hope he considers giving it another go with the new meds and that he starts to feel better as time goes on Will.
7829857 tn?1401192659 I have been on Sovaldi, Olysio and Riboviron for 4 weeks. I am finding that I feel very poorly with a laundry list of noxious symptoms. I feel very alone since my docs said that the side effect profile would be very tolerable. Many years ago I was on interferon and riboviron but could not tolerate the tx. I don't know if it is the roboviron that is causing the side effects. At this point I am pretty much bed-ridden. Is there anyone out there with a similar experience?
