Zegerid not working

Common Questions and Answers about Zegerid not working

prilosec

Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
168348 tn?1379357075 I've heard the medicine name but not sure what it does and if any better/worse than others out there that are prescription drugs? And, anybody know if FDA approved for what age?
Avatar n tn Had an upper gi where I swallowed the barium. Report came back normal: No ulcers or anything unusual seen. Problem is I am still having the symptoms of burning in chest. Now I have noticed the pain and burning is in my upper center back also. Have an odd feeling of something in my throat too that makes me cough periodically. Stopped taking ppi's because they were not working. What can I do now? I am so sick of this constant feeling in my chest and back.
Avatar f tn Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.
709686 tn?1277432159 Protonix (Pantoprozole) does not give me problems...maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
394931 tn?1208115595 my doctor prescribed me pantoloc for the heartburn which is not working at all. all it does is make me vomit..i am at the end here i am 23 years old and i am usually so uncomfortable because of the heart burn. my doctor said it is acid reflux and the pantoloc will help, but hasnt, any ideas?
Avatar f tn I am now on Zegerid at night (taken for 3 days) and have seen little improvement, and Protonix in the AM. My question is, has anyone experienced this where the drug just stopped working for you? Thanks everyone.
913937 tn?1243013191 I have had 3 gastric emptying tests, 2 endoscopies and recently have been put on medication. Zegerid for GERD is a miracle drug for me for acid reflux. However, it doesn't do anything for the vomitting. I have tried reglan, erythromyacin, and just received a RX for Domperidon yesterday. Because the reglan didn't work, I am not too thrilled about the possibility of the domperidon working. I have lost 21 pounds in the last 9 weeks and I am at my wits end.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my GERD for 3 years with Zegerid. For the first 2 years it was my "miracle drug". About a year ago I began having what I called reflux "attacks" again, usually in the middle of the night. They would last anywhere up to 4 hours, during which all I could do was pace the floor and pray for relief. I averaged one attack a month; finally decided to revisit my gastroenterologist.
1500525 tn?1458529998 feeling as I call it I am having pain when swallowing, talking, etc... I do not have much/any appetite, I do not know if it is because not wanting to hurt or just plain not feeling well (I have had a slight fever, night sweats, etc... but I also have some other health issues so the night sweats and stuff do not really worry me) So I guess my question is does anyone know if there is anything I can take to help or clear whatever is going on up?
Avatar f tn I was in so much pain I went to the ER where they did a CT scan with die and everything was said to be normal except ovarian cysts that they asumed had ruptured. So I wert to my OB where they did an internal sonogram and that was not the cause becuase there was no fluid found in the area surrounding the ovaries. So my OB said to go to a Gastroentologist. I explained my symptoms to him and he said I was all over the place. Nice right...
1746242 tn?1318209702 I get that and to me it feels like a tight, gripping feeling. I don't know if it related to any kind of acid reflux but I do know when I take a Zegerid in the morning it doesn't happen. The confusing thing is I have a pretty bland diet these days so it's not like I am eating super hot & spicy food. And you can be sure nothing high in fat! Zegerid is a proton pump inhibitor so it or any H2 Blocker you have in your medicine cabinet might help.
Avatar f tn s, ecocardiogram, event monitor for 2 weeks and a cardiac cta - all of which is normal. He is not concerned and told me I do not have to return to him, though he has given me no insight into what it may be except a side effect of a medicine I was on. I have since stopped the medicine and the symptoms stopped too until yesterday when I had another "episode".
Avatar n tn He has been tested for basic allergies, not specific food allergies. I've not noticed a "brain fog" but I will pay closer attention. The foods that he was able to eat but now cannot are: biscuits & gravy (southern style), chocolate cake (but chocolate icing, ice cream, or candy is fine), hibachi style Japanese food, Thai food, bacon (unless it's crunchy/almost burnt), canola oil, olive oil, butter (not margerine), I think that's about it.
Avatar n tn I was given samples of Nexium to try for two weeks. At the end of the trial, I did not notice any improvement. I also had developed new problems of bloating, especially just to the left of my "six-pack". When I sat down, it felt like something was being crushed or pinched in my abdomen also had pain under my solar plexus and across my abdomen just under my rib cage. I had a lot of belching and gas while on Nexium.
417274 tn?1202937034 My question is how long until the Zegerid they switched me to will stop working too? I have also been taking Zantac the entire time as well. I have already been tried on all the others and they just don't work, so unless something new comes out and my trend continues, my fear is that I'll be sunk with chronic issues that just won't heal.
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
Avatar n tn H-Pylori is a nasty bacteria. I had an upper GI done earlier this year and they took several biopsies, found out I had it! Know this, it DOES cause cancer! They put you on a triple antibiotic therapy...14 pills a day for 10 days...ugggh! I still have major stomach probs and had another upper GI about 2 mths ago, more biopsies, but thank God the H-Pylori hadn't come back. I'm on Zegerid now after trying many different drugs. Most times it does help with the major acid/nausea.
Avatar f tn But I want to hear from the fellow members that whether this medication is safe and does not interfere the effectiveness of Pegasys. Hopefully some members will advice me on this issue.
Avatar f tn No, only confirmed that I did have esophageal spasms, but not really said anything. (That was 12/09) She told me yesterday that my neuro said there is info on the report about silent aspiration showing, too. That could increase my risk of pneumonia, etc., and that the muscles are not moving the food down my esophagus, etc. (I told her I was the household joke about getting vitamins stuck in my throat and banging on the table!) Anyway, he asked me to consider swallow therapy.
Avatar f tn I was using ranitidine (generic for zantac). I was having horrible stomach pain and dr told me to try zegerid....and holy smokes its awesome!!! Expensive but good stuff $23 for 42 @ target.
