prilosec

Avatar f tn I've been having issues for months. I'm a 37 year old female who was in generally good health until about 7 months ago. I ended up in the ER because I was having heart palpitations. The ER couldn't find anything wrong, and after 2 different cardiologists, two holter monitors, many EKGs and an Echocardiogram, it was determined that I have "harmless" skipped beats (PVCs or PACs).
1364792 tn?1278051187 Omeprazole (INN) (pronounced /oʊˈmɛprəzoʊl/) is a proton pump inhibitor used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD/GERD), laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It was first marketed in the US in 1989 by AstraZeneca under the brand names Losec and Prilosec, and is now also available from generic manufacturers under various brand names.
Avatar m tn I was on Zegerid and probiotics(still taking them) for 3 months prior to September and still had the swollen tonsils. I cannot swallow properly, I snore so loud I wake myself up along with the household, I am always gagging and choking on my own saliva, constant allergies and post nasal drip...What does this have to do with GERD? I have no heartburn and no irregular amount of erosions in my esophagus!
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar f tn Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.
Avatar n tn Last week I had been checked again they told me I have TMJ. I have been taking Zegerid from stomach upset. I felt something stuck in the throat for 2 weeks,I can eat and swallow solid and liquids but pain is always there. I had a Candida Albicans in the throat as well after I took an Augmentin from H. Pylori but now it is gone. I am 27 years old , female, ETOH, non smoker. It really scrares me thinking about esophageal cancer.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
Avatar m tn s not just something that makes LPR get worse but perhaps it is the culprit! Do all of you LPR sufferers have stress/anxiety problems? I think it has something to do with the short breaths making the diaphragm tense plus all of the other tension and also indigestion all combined from stress/anxiety.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my GERD for 3 years with Zegerid. For the first 2 years it was my "miracle drug". About a year ago I began having what I called reflux "attacks" again, usually in the middle of the night. They would last anywhere up to 4 hours, during which all I could do was pace the floor and pray for relief. I averaged one attack a month; finally decided to revisit my gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
Avatar m tn I am suffering from laryngiopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease since 2 months. I had unprotected sex with a partner having unknown hiv status. It happened almost 8 months back. I can't face hiv test and it gives me lot of stress. I don't have other symptoms. Is it LPR only?
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. It is very possible that what u r dealing with is GERD ....LPR has all the same symptoms and u have to treat it the same....u may want to try to avoid foods they trigger ur symptoms, so keep a journal so u know which of the "typical" foods affect u, and there are ways to modify ur lifestyle as well as ur diet...like no eating b4 u lay down for at least 3 to 4 hours...elevate the head of ur bed....no tight clothes....
Avatar m tn I wanted to share my LPR story, and hopefully begin a fresh thread for LPR sufferers. I have seen 100s of posts on regarding LPR, but found none by people that have actually cured their symptoms. If you are out there, please post replies - these are important for moral and confidence building. June, 2013 Here’s my story. My symptoms started all of a sudden - I choked on a bit of water, and when I coughed it off I tried to burp and realized I couldn't.
Avatar f tn The good news is you can get rid of LPR. My mother had severe LPR and severe GERD for 5 years. Now she suffers neither. By stopping all acid blockers and taking digestive enzyme supplements (helps digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (helps with stomach acid production), both conditions were gone within a few weeks. The extra bonus was that her gastritis is almost gone after a year and a half on these supplements.
Avatar f tn Well I told him I thought maybe it was my gallbladder so he sent me for a ultrasound (which came back fine no visabal stones) and in the meantime he gave me Zegerid for the burning. It helped and in three days I was fine so I stopped it. I went back and told him the pain was easing up and that I had stopped the Zegerid so he said ok and if it did come back to take prilosec. Pain did come back so I took it for 12 days and had major reactions to it. So I again stopped.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with GERD and LPR (laringoesophageal reflux) and I have that feeling of a lump in the throat, caused as the ENT said, by the LPR. I also have chronic halitosis (6 years now), and I have overruled all possible dental causes. So my question is whether it is possible LPR to be the cause for my bad breath. This discussion is related to Lump-in-the-throat feeling, constant gurling, and at my wit's end!.
Avatar n tn Hi...the stuck in the throat feeling is quite common for the LPR type of reflux....many times the person also has thick mucus or PND along with it.....swallowing issues , horse voice....sore throat....are a few other symptoms.... It can take more then a week to recover from these symptoms ...and it takes more then just taking the meds....you also need to modify diet and lifestyle to help the meds work properly.....
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! LPR is just a type of GERD and gaviscon is one of the many medications that can be taken for gerd. Do you have any GI symptoms or have you been diagnosed with GERD?
Avatar n tn I think I may have LPR, I have all the symptoms listed but the worst of these is the build up of thick phlegm in my throat which almost chokes me first thing in the morning, is this normal to LPR
