Had an upper gi where I swallowed the barium. Report came back normal: No ulcers or anything unusual seen. Problem is I am still having the symptoms of burning in chest. Now I have noticed the pain and burning is in my upper center back also. Have an odd feeling of something in my throat too that makes me cough periodically. Stopped taking ppi's because they were not working. What can I do now? I am so sick of this constant feeling in my chest and back.
Hi- I have taken Zegerid and found it to be the best of GERD/acid-reflux med's. They all do take some time, but for me it's the best by a good margin, with Kapidex/Prevacid second. My insurance co. doesn't cover Zegerid as well as they cover Prevacid, but my doctor calls it the "Rolls Royce" of stomach meds.
Well I told him I thought maybe it was my gallbladder so he sent me for a ultrasound (which came back fine no visabal stones) and in the meantime he gave me Zegerid for the burning. It helped and in three days I was fine so I stopped it. I went back and told him the pain was easing up and that I had stopped the Zegerid so he said ok and if it did come back to take prilosec. Pain did come back so I took it for 12 days and had major reactions to it. So I again stopped.
Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.
After 2 endoscopies, I was told I had a hiatal hernia. I have been taking Zegerid 40mg on and off for a few years. There are days where I will not have any symptoms and other days where I doubt it is my hernia because it gets really bad. These past few days have been horrible. I take the Zegerid and I am still suffering from pains I am unfamiliar with. I feel as though my breathing has gotten difficult and that I cannot get in enough air.
I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
I have been treating my GERD for 3 years with Zegerid. For the first 2 years it was my "miracle drug". About a year ago I began having what I called reflux "attacks" again, usually in the middle of the night. They would last anywhere up to 4 hours, during which all I could do was pace the floor and pray for relief. I averaged one attack a month; finally decided to revisit my gastroenterologist.
They checked for h pylori which came back negative as well. So no ulcers. I had an endoscopy which was negative and a stool sample also came out negative. Later that night the discomfort and nausea returned. I was eating regularily during this time but not so healthy. Alot of boxed meals and soda pop. I rarely exercise.
I saw another doctor that told me I had gastroenteritis. Gave me a week of antibiotics that never worked.
They put you on a triple antibiotic therapy...14 pills a day for 10 days...ugggh! I still have major stomach probs and had another upper GI about 2 mths ago, more biopsies, but thank God the H-Pylori hadn't come back. I'm on Zegerid now after trying many different drugs. Most times it does help with the major acid/nausea. Anyway, hope this helps.
what works for one person may not work for another, in my case what works for me 1 week my not work the next, my body gets used to the product- so my Dr. tells me. OTC products can be doubled if the strenght on the box does not work---Try Pepsid AC they have a 10 & 20 mg....(the perscription for that is Axid 300mg)....I have been on them all, but not the ones with Sodium Bicarbonate like Zegerid OTc....
Take some TUM TUM TUM TUM TUMS anticid®, for heartburn relief. Always work for me. Hate the chalky taste but they seem to work, so I look past that. If that does not work, try Pepcid, Gaviscon, Prilosec OTC, Omeprazole, Pepto, Zegerid OTC, Equate Acid Relief or Alka-Seltzer. If you do not want to go to the store, try a quick remedy-- baking soda or cold milk. And also, you can use PregEase. It treats morning sickness and heartburn.
was discharging from my penus my doctor put me on antibiotic tetracycline hcl 500mg for 7 days was ok then i started discharging again . he then put me on amoxi/clavu pt875mg augmentin for 10 days . after i would say 5days started noticing a few red pimples on my foreskin of my penus not the head . i am not circumsized . noticed when in the shower the tip of the pimple got white and the skin peeled off and are a few small skin craters with a little liquid ozzing out .
another thing is your dr shouldve told you what is causing your ulcers. not only does testing tell you have ulcers, but it can tell you what kind. ulcers dont just come from stress or lots of caffeine, they can also be from a bacterial infection, and if it is, you have to take a bunch of pills to kill the infection. also, a few of the not so common conditions im referencing (sorry, cant remember the names) cause recurring ulcers, but are not usually limited to stomach ulcers.
Hello. Just diagnosed with duodenal bulb ulcers. Read cabbage juice is great for ulcers, but I don't think I can drink it. I read from a very old site that natural stores supposedly have powdered raw cabbage. Anyone know where to buy this??? Looked everywhere!!! ...not looking forward to taking omeprazole...
