Zegerid and infants

Common Questions and Answers about Zegerid and infants

prilosec

Avatar f tn Hi- I have taken Zegerid and found it to be the best of GERD/acid-reflux med's. They all do take some time, but for me it's the best by a good margin, with Kapidex/Prevacid second. My insurance co. doesn't cover Zegerid as well as they cover Prevacid, but my doctor calls it the "Rolls Royce" of stomach meds.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I get terrible heartburn and I dont know what to do with myself because I take Zegerid EVERY DAY!! This is starting to seriously interfere with my life, and work. I can't do much when I get stomach pains. Why does the zegerid not work sometimes? And how do i get rid of this terrible heartburn? and why do i have to keep taking it if there's nothing specifically wrong with me?
Avatar f tn t have any feeling of acid in my throat, it did correlate to my main symptoms of pain, nausea and cough. I started taking Zegerid 40/1100. Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed...
Avatar f tn As I read more off this site, I decided to have old rheumo. report and swallow study from by GI sent to neuro. Neuro pa called and said--did anyone ever talk with you about your swallow study. No, only confirmed that I did have esophageal spasms, but not really said anything. (That was 12/09) She told me yesterday that my neuro said there is info on the report about silent aspiration showing, too. That could increase my risk of pneumonia, etc.
Avatar f tn I was using ranitidine (generic for zantac). I was having horrible stomach pain and dr told me to try zegerid....and holy smokes its awesome!!! Expensive but good stuff $23 for 42 @ target.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
168348 tn?1379357075 Our GI wanted to give me samples of it for Jenna since my copay went up to 100 for the Protonix and I asked him what it compared to and that is what he told me, needless to say we did not change meds since the Protonix was working fine, I didnt want to risk changing meds.
Avatar n tn , caring for elderly parents, unexpected deaths of brother and brother-in-law, and most recently, learning that my husband has cancer. Prilosec and Prevacid offered temporary relief 10 years ago and since going on Zegerid, I really have felt much better. My pharmacist assures me the the nitro has been in use for these spasms for "quite awhile". I guess the jury will be out for me until my next episode and I can try a tablet.
Avatar f tn It helped and in three days I was fine so I stopped it. I went back and told him the pain was easing up and that I had stopped the Zegerid so he said ok and if it did come back to take prilosec. Pain did come back so I took it for 12 days and had major reactions to it. So I again stopped. He then did the upperendocopy with biopsy just to check for ulcers and all was fine and I was diagnosed with reflux.
470885 tn?1326329037 First of all, I apologize if this seems like a silly question - my oldest son (now 4 years old) didn't have yogurt until he was well over a year old. I've been thinking about how to add variety (and extra good fats) to my younger son (8 months nearly 9 months old)'s diet due to the fact that he's a bit on the small side and slow to gain weight - but healthy - and I thought that maybe I could start giving him a bit of yogurt now and then.
6333619 tn?1386598382 Idk if the liter is harmful to infants and children, you may have to look it up. The thing i would be worrried about is that its not yalls cat, it just showed up one day and you rescued it. You dont know this cat basically. Right now its getting used to you guys but when the baby comes he will still be adjusting and i have heard of cats smothering new borns....
Avatar n tn I saw a GI specialist who switched me off Nexium and put me on Zegerid. Abdominal x-rays and H. Pylori breath tests were negative. Endoscopy showed irritation, but no major damage. There was also a small amount of bile in my stomach. Biopsies were negative and no sign of ulcers. Blood tests were normal. Initially I had a rough start with the Zegerid where I couldn't even eat.
Avatar n tn pylori is a bacteria that is able to live in the harsh environment of the stomach. It is suggested to cause GERD and ulcerations.
Avatar n tn i had the same symtoms and i star with zegerid 40mg ones a day and sulcrafate 1 gm four times a day and i list the burning sensation it almost gone i know how you feel.
Avatar m tn Sometimes it sloshes around, sometimes it feels like if i burp it will come right back up, but i cant burp, i feel the air, but nothing comes up. I have ibs-c and gerd with gastritis. Im on Zegerid in the am and zantac in the pm. I started a new plan about the ibc-c and im going every other day. It just feels like the tube where it hits my stomach is cold/chilled.
Avatar m tn Even the most recent study of Hill has evaluated a heterogeneous breastfeeding group and does not provide data for HBV DNA in mothers and infants (see the table for reference). Finally, the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that HBV infection should not be considered as a contraindication to breastfeeding of infants who receive the approved hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) and HBV vaccine[46].
Avatar f tn Nexium is safe to use with interferon and ribavirin and will not interfere with the efficacy of antiviral therapy.
Avatar m tn I have been on them all, but not the ones with Sodium Bicarbonate like Zegerid OTc....I have been looking to find others who are now not responding to meds and what they are doing, I have found that Milk Thistle could possibly be of some help, I'll give it a try...
Avatar f tn You need support to stay clean! Contact Alcoholics Anonymous in your area and they can refer you to AA and NA meetings in your area. Go ahead and go to some AA meetings and be willing to share with women your story and accept the help of a sponsor. AA/NA is Free! A sponsor can talk you through any triggers in the next 4 months that want to make you use. Good for you to quit but you have to keep clean.
Avatar n tn Breastfeed for comfort and use petroleum jelly (or even better coconut oil) to soothe cool and protect the area and it will heal in just a couple of days.
1035252 tn?1427227833 I noticed that several people have asked recently about a forum dedicated to the parenting of newborns and/or infants, since the only MH group starts with age 1-5. I started a group specifically for the age of Newborn up to 1 year...so please feel free to join and ask any questions under the sun OR to post if you find any pertinent information (such as information from reputable sources about infant equipment safety recalls, or information about infant health and care).
709686 tn?1277432159 Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
