913937 tn?1243013191 Oz and he had a girl on that was misdiagnosed with anoerexia nervosa for a number of years and eventually got a diagnosis of gastroparesis and had a pacemaker implanted in her stomach - it apparently works like it does on the heart - it causes the muscles of the stomach to push the food through the system - the muscles are the reason that food is not going through and eventually coming up.
Avatar f tn The Doctor told me that he found a lot of Bile and some acid reflux , he gave me omeprazol (Zegerid) 40 mg. He said I should take it half hour before breakfast. He said I dont have anything serious and see him in two weeks. I am so tired of this ****!!!! nobody can find a solution! He said that I may have a slow stomach never explain what is that neither how to fix it nothing!! It seems that never finishes.
Avatar f tn Hi- I have taken Zegerid and found it to be the best of GERD/acid-reflux med's. They all do take some time, but for me it's the best by a good margin, with Kapidex/Prevacid second. My insurance co. doesn't cover Zegerid as well as they cover Prevacid, but my doctor calls it the "Rolls Royce" of stomach meds.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I have had an endoscopy, barium swallow and motility test ran and the GI specialists all said everything came back normal. They have given me nexium, zegerid, reglan and domperidone to try and help with it but none have helped. I do not get any acid indigestion or feeling of going to choke on my food it just simply comes back up for hours after I eat. I have tried chewing my food completely up b/f swallowing and cutting back on my size of meals but nothing helps.....
417274 tn?1202937034 They switched me to every medication know to man! And woman LOL I finally saw a specialist and then underwent the Laparoscopic Nissan Fundiplication, about 8 years ago. I have not had one episode of gastric reflux since then, have been heartburn free. It is major surgery, but well worth it. It sounds like you would be a good candidate for this surgery. It should also help clear up your esophogeal problems.
Avatar f tn I get terrible heartburn and I dont know what to do with myself because I take Zegerid EVERY DAY!! This is starting to seriously interfere with my life, and work. I can't do much when I get stomach pains. Why does the zegerid not work sometimes? And how do i get rid of this terrible heartburn? and why do i have to keep taking it if there's nothing specifically wrong with me?
Avatar f tn t have any feeling of acid in my throat, it did correlate to my main symptoms of pain, nausea and cough. I started taking Zegerid 40/1100. Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed...
Avatar n tn I am a 23 year old Male. I am 5'5 and 110lbs. About 5 month ago I wokeup early in the morning with a terrible pain in my stomach area just below my ribcage above my bellybutton with a moderate feeling of nausea. There was no vomiting or diarrhea although I felt like i had to vomit to make myself feel better. The feeling was so bad I was unable to sleep and my wife ended up taking me to the hospital.
Avatar m tn Recently I was given a gastric emptying test and diagnosed with gastroparesis and given a low fiber diet. Can you have IBS and gastroparesis? What diet would help both?
Avatar f tn I am also 24 and a female and was just diagnosed with gastroparesis and am getting ready to start Reglan. I have never heard of abdominal migranes or epilepsy. This is very interesting because all my labs and tests came back normal but I have been throwing up for 8 months and had my gallbladder removed already. I have extreme pain in my upper right quadrant and extreme nausea and vomitting. I am not diabetic so the doctors don't really know why this is happening. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn As I read more off this site, I decided to have old rheumo. report and swallow study from by GI sent to neuro. Neuro pa called and said--did anyone ever talk with you about your swallow study. No, only confirmed that I did have esophageal spasms, but not really said anything. (That was 12/09) She told me yesterday that my neuro said there is info on the report about silent aspiration showing, too. That could increase my risk of pneumonia, etc.
Avatar m tn I also have a stomach ache that has lasted a week and seems to be aggravated when I move, and I, too, have been doing "The Biggest Loser" cardio max workout every other day and the 5 minute yoga stretch with poses at the end. I was wondering if I twisted something as well, so I was interested in any answers you got, but so far no one has answered if it is possible to twist something internally. Do you have any digestive issues?
Avatar f tn I was using ranitidine (generic for zantac). I was having horrible stomach pain and dr told me to try zegerid....and holy smokes its awesome!!! Expensive but good stuff $23 for 42 @ target.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
Avatar m tn You could still be recovering and your symptoms might improve with time. This could be gastroparesis. You can try a low-fiber low-fat diet with many small meals throughout the day to see if that helps.
Avatar f tn From what I have read gastroparesis is related to auto-immune diseases. Have you had Free T3 and Free T4 and antibodies done for your thyroid? TSH on its own is not enough to diagnose a thyroid condition. The nodule may or may not be causing you any thyroid troubles.
1670868 tn?1303741669 I agree with CalGal that this sounds like gastroparesis. The diet for gastroparesis is low-fiber low-fat. You should also eat small frequent meals throughout the day. If this isn't working (and you can't afford to see a doctor) you can try putting all your foods in a blender to see if that helps.
Avatar n tn I have just had a major sinus infection which left me with sinusitis type pain all throughout my sinuses and down through my lungs (?). It is likely caused by my gastroparesis and I am going for additional testing tomorrow.
Avatar n tn That's very interesting because I have recently been diagnosed with Bell's palsy and have been experiencing gastroparesis like symptoms - nausea, lack of appetite, feeling of fullness. The Bell's palsy is more of a nuisance, but the gastroparesis is horrible. There's been days where I could barely eat any food at all. I've recently learned that the stomach is linked to a cranial nerve, just like the facial nerve is, so was curious if there was a link between the conditions.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and gastroparesis. I have had about 7-8 diverticulitis attacks beginning in 2006. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in Dec of 2013. I have been miserable with pain and nausea with these last two attacks which were a month apart. My doc prescribed Domperidone for the gastroparesis. I filled the prescription but before I could start taking it, I had another diverticulitis attack. I am currently taking flagyl and levaquin for the diverticulitis.
484160 tn?1343397921 They cause nausea and they slow down motility of the GI system. I too have bad gastroparesis and now I am 100% tube fed into my small intestine because of this.
Avatar n tn I take Miralax and have Gastroparesis. I can't have a BM without the Miralax!!!! It has truly been a God sent to me! I have a spastic colon and, well needless to say the Miralax is the best tasting, no side effect product out there!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!! My daughter who is 12 (almost 13) takes it occasionally (only a half cap full) when she's stopped up. I've tried just about every other "helper" out there on the market and Miralax is by far the best!
168348 tn?1379357075 Our GI wanted to give me samples of it for Jenna since my copay went up to 100 for the Protonix and I asked him what it compared to and that is what he told me, needless to say we did not change meds since the Protonix was working fine, I didnt want to risk changing meds.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced anything that cycles between gastroparesis symptoms and trouble swallowing? i.e., for a few weeks, I'll get full quickly, feel bloated, some nausea, lasts for a long time - can throw up nearly whole meals after 8 hours.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with gastroparesis almost 20 years ago and fibro only recently. Negative on h pylori and so far on thyroid.
Avatar f tn I have gastroparesis, recently diagnosed, and I am furiously researching the right diet I should be on because I know carbs make me sick so I am currently on a low fat/low carb type of diet but I stumbled upon a Celiac website and I could NOT believe the nunber of people who have BOTH celiac and gastroparesis or gluten sensitivty and gastroparesis. I think this is very interesting.
