Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg of prilosec a day and it works amazing
Avatar f tn Zantac didn't work with my first pregnancy so my doctor prescribed protonix. This time around Zantac is working so far. I also try not to eat at least 2 hours before bed and sleep on 3 pillows. With my first pregnancy I put books under the legs if the head of my bed it got so bad. Good luck!
593603 tn?1229378162 Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
Avatar f tn My dr recommended Zantac and Prilosec. I have Zantac and it works great! Tums never worked for me, I dont like milk but tried that too and didnt work.
Avatar f tn Anyone with HepC taking 20 mg. of Prilosec? My dr. said ok to take, but I'd feel better if anyone else is/has used it. Either a prescription or OTC.
Avatar f tn The doctor had mentioned Prilosec and another medication as being ok to take, but I forget the other one. Anyways, I went to the store to get the Prilosec and the only thing they have for Prilosec is a 14 day treatment which may not work for 1-4 days. I want something with immediate relief and wondered if the anyone took the other ones like Zantac or whatever else is out there. Tums does NOT work for me. Any input as to what your doctor said was ok, please let me know.

Avatar f tn 2 weeklong doses of flucanazole seemed to clear up the cotton mouth feeling but the LPR continued as I continued on with the Prilosec and Zantac. 2 weeks ago I met with a dietician and stated an anti inflammatory diet. I have pulmonary nodules thought to be caused by a gluten intolerance and I cut sugar, dairy, gluten corn, soy etc. a week ago I stopped the Prilosec and I am down to one Zantac 150 per day with very few symptoms.
Avatar f tn Famotidine is Pepcid which works in the same way that Zantac works...I didn't have much luck on Zantac so now I'm on Prilosec and it works wonderfully...but famotidine is considered safer for pregnancy then prilosec...
709686 tn?1277432159 Problem is my prescription insurance has run out so I now have to purchase Zantac or Prilosec OTC. Anyway...I started with Prilosec (omeprozole) and all was well until day 6 when I developed the worst, constant, headache, skin rash on my arm and blurry vision.
Avatar f tn Noo ask ur doctor first!!
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor...they actually have me on prilosec and it's amazing for the acid/heartburn (prilosec is a class C drug, zantac is a little safer as a class B, but didn't work for me) but unfortunately I still wake up chocking on stomach content if I eat or drink after 5pm (it just doesn't burn like before)...
Avatar n tn s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
454221 tn?1259445739 My understanding is that Prilosec had not been assigned a category for pregnancy by the FDA because its effects during pregnancy are unknown. Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.
Avatar f tn I take zantac!!! I got the acid reflux yesterday from just eating a piece if toast with peanut butter!!
Avatar m tn H2 Blockers like Zantac can make some people drowsy, so if Zantac does that to you, then you are likely to be even more drowsy combined with Xanax. I would check with your GI doc. He will be more familiar with how Zantac, Nexium, and Xanax react to one another. Your pharmacist is also a good person to ask. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I'm taking omeprazole(prilosec) and have been since I was about 16weeks I couldn't eat or drink even water it was so bad I didn't wanna take any medicine either but it was so bad and the Dr assured me it was safe.
Avatar m tn t work, then you can try something stronger like Prilosec. Keep in mind, Prilosec may come with a lot of side effects that can be just as bothersome as the GERD. I was prescribed Prilosec and took it for six weeks until I couldn't take it any longer. Too many side effects for me. It basically blocks acid from the stomach, and while it is effective at getting rid of heartburn, you may experience a rebound once you stop taking them.
Avatar f tn I was taking zantac 150 2x a day and prilosec otc 1x a day along with tums. Finally at 16 weeks my ob gave me the prescription prilosec and heartburn is so much better.
Avatar f tn I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
Avatar f tn Especially, if I would eat anything spicy a couple of hours or so before bedtime I would supplement my prilosec with a zantac. In any event, the acid reflux has been with me for several years. A couple of months ago, I went in for a routine check up, and had my bloodtest, which showed a slightly elevated ALP of 85.
2101847 tn?1333564794 My doctor prescribed Nexium but my insurance doesn't want to cover it, so it would be over $200 out of pocket. The pharmacist said it's because it's so similar to Prilosec, when the drug company lost their patent for Prilosec, they removed a isomer and named it Nexium. (Similar to what happen with Celexa and Lexapro) I don't get how Nexium is category B and Prilosec is C? How did you get your insurance to pay for it?
Avatar f tn I had acid reflux everyday all day during my pregnancy. I took Zantac but that didn't help. My daughter didn't have any issues with acid reflux either. My doctor said it was ok and woulnd't harm the baby, so maybe it was just coincidence she had it too?
