zantac vs prevacid

I've raised my head at night. I haven't tried prevacid or prilosec. My doc prescribed me zantac in august so I've continued using it. I may try one of those to see if I get any relief because the zantac really isn't working.

My doctor put me on Zantac and have been using it more than recommended because it isn't working. I only eat raisen brand,shredded wheat and fruit. No matter what I get acid so bad I throwup. Tonight I picked up Prevacid at the store. I haven't asked my doctor because I am such high risk. I can't take this anymore with the throwing up. Is anyone else taking prevacid and when did you start taking it ? How is baby since you have been taking it ?

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

Several options, some require you to talk with your provider before trying. Tablespoon of vinegar (gross, but works), glass of milk, tums/rolaids, Zantac/Prevacid.

Um o cant remember if this is fact bit i do believe it is not ok. But double check. They usually say just drink milk. I forced the acid up n out then drank milk....that usually helped.

I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.

s what I meant. I meant Prevacid. Mine was put on Zantac first and was then switched to Prevacid and that was better. The Zantac only helped for like a couple of weeks and then went right back. Well, if they have tried all of that, then maybe a GI specialist is the route to go. It sounds like your doc has tried everything. And maybe your doc is right. Maybe when Julian starts solids, it will help. I hope so.....for both your sake. I know it's hard....Just hang in there.

I will talk to home about Prevacid and zantac. Oh and I can relate to feeling heavy at times too. Mostly when I'm in my feet for to long that's when I feel like an anchor to the ground lol.

Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?

I am on Warfarin and apparently, according to the pharmacist (not the Coumadin Clinic) there can be an interaction. There was also no warning on the box. I transitioned to Zantac from Prevacid because of concern that the Prevacid might be contributing to my arrythmias. I am off of the Zantac for a day or two to see if it makes a difference in my INR.

I'm 33 weeks and have had heartburn since week 16. I take two 150mg Zantac daily. Along with tums for breakthrough. My physician told me it was completely fine. I also work with gasrtoenterologist and they recommend the same thing. Ask your doctor if it's ok for you to take that. It has been a life saver for me. Hope you get some relief soon!

4 PPIs: Nexium, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix; 2 H2blockers: Zantac and Pepcid; 2 antiacids: Gaviscon and Riopan. I couldn't take any of these more than a few days (from 1 to 13 days) because of their side effects. The 2 bad side effects I've most often had are: worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan).

I have vagus nerve damage- non diabetic gastroparesis. I have extreme acid production. This past year the acid has gotten worse at night. I get up every two or three hours because my stomach feels like it's on fire. I currently take 2 prevacid in the am and two at night. I take an extra strength zantac when I get up at midnight. The relief lasts about two hours then I wake again with my stomach burning so carafate. The carafate helps sometimes but not always.

Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.

My daughter age 15 was diagnosed with GERD after several months of pain and testing. She has been on Prevacid and Zantac for a month now. She has been pain free since starting her meds. Although in the past month she has gained 10 lbs. Has anyone else suffered from this? We eat a mostly vegetarian diet. She swims a hour 4x a week. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I take tums and just started some zantac. The zantac is a LIFESAVER!

Zantac is safe throughout pregnancy. If that doesn't work, or stops working like in my case, Prevacid is also safe during pregnancy and works like a charm. I had it real bad this last time and Prevacid was all that would help me.

I did see that the indigestion is another side effect and taking zantac or prevacid is ok. This just seems like alot of chemicals. Is there anyone else taking the Eltrombopag along with their treatment?
