I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.

I'm finishing week 42 of a 48 week tx. Do sx get worse the longer you are on tx. In the last few weeks, I've forgotten more,ate less,and am tired all of the time. The fatigue is the worst thing. I sleep all of the time. It's hard for the husband because he is alone all the time. Heck even my cats wait outside my door. I don't let them in often because I want to sleep and they want love. I give them a lot when I'm up.

There can be side-effects with the use of PPIs - no drug is without side-effects unfortunately. today, i had a severe pain on the left side of my chest. like in my left breast, extending towards the side and back. it's constant pain and i feel like vomiting a bit because of that pain. it got so severe that i had to lie down and then it felt a bit better but it's still throbbing. i recently got put on antibiotics (azithromycin) for a throat infection, but these pains are not a side effect.

I first used carafate about 30yrs ago sort of before all of the newer drugs came on the scene, then it was Tagamet Zantac Pepcid and all down the line one good thing about carafate is it is not systemic with mostly minor side effects.

I took/take Prevacid for 6 weeks and also have terrible side effects from it. Anxiety gone through the roof, muscle twitching in my throat, depression beyond believe. I was supposed to take 30 mg a day but because I had a really bad swallowing problem (turned out those were actually anxiety crampings of my throat) I took a few times 60 mg a day (morning and evening a 30 mg).

And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. My bones are so sensitive that it hurts to even sit on a soft chair. It has been a terrible experience which I regret.

I've just started taking zantac, and I don't know if I'll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. My question is this; if I get nauseous, stomach pain, upset stomach etc. as a side effect or other, can I take tums to calm my stomach down? Or will it just make things worse? I can't talk to my doctor because (a) don't have an appointment and (b) am too young to drive there or get an appointment myself.

Hmmm, not everyone's side effects will be the same. In fact, you may not really have any side effects that you notice. My side effects were: racing heart - I lost about 5 lbs in 3 days. skin sensitive to the touch. feeling like I was beat up with a baseball bat on my back. shaking. and feeling like my achilles tendon was going to rip off. Just try to relax and take it easy. I hope all goes good for you.

the Prozac, but that kind of pattern can lead to difficulties in tolerating the med...it can increase side effects, and decrease the efficacy. So, my advice is to just stick with it...take it regularly, as prescribed. Good luck to you!

I have read so many posts where people have significant (severe) side effects years after completing treatment. Are there any studies or evaluations on post-treatment side effects? Any comments?

what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?

I was wondering when my WBCs get normal, will I no longer have this allergy. From what I'm seeing on your response, if it is an allergy to my cats, It will not go away. I've had my cats 10 years and never had an issue prior to chemo?

In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.

Well, I have two cats, right? One of them experienced side effects to flea treatment. The other one was fine all the time. Side effects: Redness, itchy skin, and hair loss. The third month everything was fine. But he did experience side effects. The product is Revolution, but it works beautifully!

In addition to what LivinginHope said first and then I wanted to add I was on Zantac 150 for about 4 months and I had no side effects at all. I have a benign arrhythmia (PACS) and so it depends on the person and if you take it long term. I have to go back on it again. But my doctor said not to stay on it all the time. Rather, to stay on it for a while then go off and on. But, I would definitely report this to your doc.
