zantac safe during pregnancy

Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.

Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.

Thanks for you comment, tea causes heartburn when i drink it, ranatidine is not safe during pregnancy that's what the doctor told me, Dramamine didn't work for me....

t imagine drinking that my husband does though he has bad heartburn but most over the counter antacids are safe during pregnancy as long as you use only as directed tums,and zantac are a few if your symptoms are more severe then normal you should take to your doctor about getting a prescription

Yes, it's safe. I had a pre exsisting acid problem before pregnancy, my dr told me zantac is the safe over the counter medicine to take.

Zantac is perfectly safe during pregnancy. I had horrible heartburn and that is what my doctor told me to get. Lifesaver.

Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.

My understanding is that Prilosec had not been assigned a category for pregnancy by the FDA because its effects during pregnancy are unknown. Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.

Zantac is great for a 12 hr fix when sypmtoms start, but Prilosec is also safe during pregnancy & prevents symptoms from even starting. My doctor put me on once daily Prilosec in the morning on an empty stomach & I haven't had one bout of heartburn in 5 weeks.Check it out & see if it's something for you.

I was on omneprezerol before pregnancy, doctor said to only take if absolutely necessary. I read aboyt papaya during my first pregnancy and it was AMAZING! I am now 36 wks in my third pregnancy and gave been heartburn free as long as i eat a small bowl each night.

Try zantac twice a day. I had heartburn so bad until beginning of 3rd trimester.

Ranitidine is just the generic form of Zantac and I am on the same thing, also 150mg, and it is considered safe during pregnancy. I believe my doctor said it was like a Class B (for pregnancy) which is one of the safer things to use, anything below Class A or B is considered a little less safe, if I understood him correctly lol. I have had a lot of heartburn during my pregnancy. Pretty much all through. I've taken Zantac for it all throughout my pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks today.

Im pretty sure it's are the most safe and u can take up to ten a day. I take zantac sometimes but most of the time I just deal with the heartburn.

Tums are also safe, but I am taking Zantac and have most of the pregnancy.

I was diagnosed with acid reflux 2 years before I got pregnant , I am 35 weeks and 5 days as well !! :) even though I dont like the smell, drink some milk to help the burning,also tums . You can elevate your head alittle more at night too.
