zantac

568659 tn?1256139982 I am freaking out here, I told my OB at my 12 week appointment that I am getting horrible heartburn and that nothing helps. He gave me a script to prilosec OTC and told me it was safe to take every day. I have not been taking it everyday but I have taken it a couple times a week since then. Well, I just looked online and it is a category C drug and is not to be used during pregnancy especially not before 20 weeks. I am only 17 weeks and have been taking it since week 12!
Avatar n tn t resolved with over the counter remedies, such as a liquid anti-acid (GI doctor office claims this is better than chewable anti-acids because it coats), OTC strength acid reducing medication, or peptobismol (or generic), as well as giving your stomach a break from aggravating foods (used to be prescribed a 48-72 hour clear liquid diet when I had gastritis if I recall correctly), it's time to take a trip to the doctor.
593603 tn?1229378162 Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
5829441 tn?1383775568 ve used tums, liquid antacid, and recently been taking zantac 150. That was working great for a week or two but once again it seems my body is becoming immune. I woke up this morning feeling like I could breathe fire and zantac didn't help at all. Any mamas got any tips or ideas to help relieve this?
Avatar f tn No, zantac 75 is the only heartburn medication on my safe list...that and tums!
Avatar f tn Hi, have you ever tried Zantac? Take the Zantac 150 (or two 75's) in the morning and before dinner at night, or before bed, whichever you prefer. I have had heartburn forever and I tried the prescription meds, but I feel the Zantac works the best. But 75 is not enough, make sure you take 150 mg. twice a day. Also, you can supplement it with Mylanta or Maalox liquid if it's really bad. I'm not saying this will be a miracle cure, but it's worth a try.
Avatar m tn By taking a medication off prescription and making it OTC the NHS saves money and the pharmaceutical company make more money because presumably more people will by it when they don't need a prescription. The reason you think Rannitidine is less effective is because the placebo effect has been removed. In fact both drugs are equally effective. Otherwise the generic version would not have been licenced.
Avatar f tn Hi again, i just wanted to let you know that before I joined this Forum I had left a message on the FDA's question line. They had not gotten back to me so I thought I'd never hear back. Today, however, I did hear back from them. I asked them about whether the meds. and supplements that I've been taking, and especially Verapamil, Zantac and Prilosec OTC could possibly cause an elevation in liver enzymes.
Avatar f tn I take zantac otc 75mg twice a day and it helps alot. My doctor told me no more than two a day. I hope that it can help you too...works immediately.
545538 tn?1295992017 Hi Jim. Thanks for replying. I can't take aspirin or ibuphophren (sp?) because I have ITP which is a platelet disorder. So I'm stuck with tylenol anyway. How about Pepcid AC or Zantac OTC? I had my husband's lasagna last night and the acid didn't agree with me. Although the lasagna was delicious. I didn't have anything except for Tums and had read that it wasn't good with tx. So I suffered through it. I just want to get something to have in the cabinet...just in case.
4268628 tn?1375041176 So I bought some OTC zantac like my doc suggested today only to get home, takeone, and realize I accidentally grabbed the 150mg when I was only supposed to take 75. Is thus a major issue I should call in to the on call Dr about or just let it go?
4250731 tn?1359154323 Zofran is mostly used for nausea but if its not helping you can try a liquid antacid like maalox, mylanta o rpepcid ac (liquid works better than tablets) hope something helps
Avatar f tn Are you prescribed Zantac? Or, are you talking about the OTC preparation? Zantac is a very safe medication, it probably wouldn't be an issue for you to try it...run it by your doc first. These meds can cause all kinds of GI Upset, so it could very well be the Prozac. Have you ever been diagnosed with GERD? Have you ever just tried taking a few Tums? That may work also. Tums can be very effective, and they are completely safe. Make sure you are taking the Prozac as prescribed.
Avatar f tn Doctor gave me peptac liquid.
Avatar f tn I also use Zante for my horrific heart burn and acid reflux. I wished I could still take my Prilosec one a day everyday and I never had ANY problems! But unfortunately it's not on the recommended list of otc meds to take , but I'm not positive it's harmful.

Avatar n tn Hello Gavali and welcome to MedHelp. It sound like things are pretty well. A comprehensive metabolic panel and complete blood count are all the lab testing required to monitor changes in liver function. Have these panels ran twice annually. A healthy diet and maintain a healthy weight will also prevent liver disease. It sounds like you are having some digestive disorders such as GERD. GERD is caused by frequent acid reflux — the backup of stomach acid or bile into the esophagus.
Avatar n tn Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
