Zantac for infant reflux

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac for infant reflux

zantac

Avatar f tn if i may chime in... did you nurse and pump or only pump? It is possible your supply tanked simply because some people don't respond well to pumps, or you didn't have a good pump (hospital grade), or you didn't pump frequently enough (15 minutes every 2 hours). Like Peek said, it could've been totally out of your hands. I know someone who tried every pump under the sun but couldn't get a drop. When her son finally learned to nurse months later, she had plenty to nourish him.
1330108 tn?1333677304 He told me to keep her on Soy for another week, but friday night she went to the ER for an allergic reaction to it. So...nutramigen it is. With reflux babies you have to play chemist and figure out which amount of rice cereal is what they need to keep the formula down and you sometimes have to play with the dosage of zantac. They told me to use 1tsp of rice cereal per ounce of milk or formula and when that didn't help they said 1tbsp per 2 ounces.
171768 tn?1324230099 I think any reflux is bad, not worse or better. It's nice your husband is aware of the meds & is cautious. I know there were a few times our pharmacists thought the doses were high, we went with the Dr. on it, but I always had the RPH check it out & made sure they were okay before we did the meds. We did limited tummy time, Cam would throw up, projectile usually if he was flat so it scared me to put him down anyway.
7349088 tn?1390657733 I take Zantac 150 once a day as prescribed by my Dr. I've had terrible acid reflux and it seems to be helpful. It's safe ..my neighbor gives her 4 month old baby zantac for silent reflux as prescribed by her pediatrician.
Avatar m tn We got discharged from hospital, apparently doctors think the low oxygen level is due to reflux. So we are giving Zantac to manage it. We got the sleep apnea monitor and the pulse oximeter at home. We never had any alarm on the apnea monitor. But the pulse oximeter shows saturation at 86-90 while the baby is in deep sleep. Doctors are also saying she will outgrow this soon.
Avatar n tn I'm a nanny and have looked after many newborns, plenty with reflux, with which the 5 wk old I now care for has been diagnosed. We are trying him with all the usual treatments, - gaviscon, omeprozole, zantac, domperidon... you name it...- and he is responding to non of these, which is quite normal, some babies don't and just have to suffer til they grow out of it, and we can help as much as poss keeping them upright etc.
1448936 tn?1363206346 I haven't taken a zantac today and my burning subsided a bit. I'm still very nauseated and feel like I have something warm and a slight burn in my throat. I got prevacid to start trying to see if that will give me more relief. I also feel as though sometimes I have too much saliva in my mouth. I'm assuming this can all probably be chalked up to acid reflux? Hopefully the prevacid helps.
Avatar f tn My daughter kept aspirating so they had to thickenher milk by adding rice cereal to her formula and also giving her zantac. Zantac works well for acid reflux she's able to eat without spitting up. Everything will be fine .
Avatar f tn Anyone else have really bad acid reflux to the point where i can't even help my son with his shoes because i get sick.
Avatar f tn I take the Walmart brand of Zantac sometimes twice a day. I took it for the last 3 to 4 months Of my first pregnancy and it never went away and so when I got pregnant again I took it and get bad and the Dr said 2 a day was safe and so here I am baby 3 and taking it and all my babies are fine :-D take a Zantac don't struggle.
Avatar f tn I am 28w4d today and have really bad acid reflux weekday do you ladies do to help with it?
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
Avatar f tn Intense heat can get to anyone, just like you and I may not feel well after being in the heat. It may be that the heat is upsetting her stomach. If you notice that she is spitting up a lot more when in the heat than when in the air, I would keep her inside. Bummer for you but better for her.
Avatar f tn Your welcome i have been on zantac 150 for my whole pregnancy because my acid reflux is so bad.
Avatar f tn BUT I have seen many many thru the years post that they have issues that disappear with the right med. There are other meds out there (not sure if they are all FDA approved for infant usage, though so you must discuss with your Dr but when the risks outweight the benefits they will oftentimes use the med) .. Zantac and other supressors are a thought .. they can be given up to 3X a day with Mylanta inbetween if your Dr. agrees .. A Pedi GI may be the way to go at this point ..
Avatar f tn This too after so much of encouragement. What could be wrong with her. Her doc said she might have GERD and she is on Zantac for a week now with no improvment.
Avatar f tn Zantac is the only thing that works for me. Dinner time is when I get it the worst. So I take it while my husband cooks.
Avatar f tn Yes I have it super bad my doctor told me I can take Zantac 75 omg go to the store get it I wish I would have asked earlier it's been my savor I take it around 3 pm so it lasts all nite so over the tums I only have to at times take like one a day if that trust me go get Zantac ASAP good luck :)
Avatar f tn Hey ladies I'm about 9.5 weeks and currently am having constant avid reflux. I remember having it with my last pregnancy but not this bad! Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, what are you doing for remedies?
Avatar f tn Yeah its not pleasant at all when you first take it but I'm 39 weeks and having my baby in a couple days so I'm not going to buy any more meds for that! I used to take zantac 150mg and it works wonders if you'd like to try that!
280369 tn?1316702041 I am definitely going to talk to my midwife about it and see what she says. For now, I will look for that juice and see if that works at all and try eating smaller meals. I definitely can't eat much these days anyway as everything is being squished up already. I am almost 22 weeks but this is the first pregnancy where my belly is high and the earliest reflux has started.
11116547 tn?1415690651 Does anyone know of any over the counter medicine that safe to take while pregnant and having acid reflux? Ive been using tums and im not gonna lie it did help out alot at first but it seems since my beebee has dropped my reflux has gotten worse. Believe me i was looking forward to her dropping to relieve some of the reflux but unfortunately it hasn't. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Our six-month old son is having a hard time staying asleep in his crib. He has Acid Reflux and has been taking Zantac for the past three weeks; he doesn't like taking even Zantac with flavoring and ends up taking a little over half of what we give him. My wife has had him in a consistent nighttime routine for the past few months: feeding (he started solids just about a month ago and has really taken to it), followed by bath time, followed by nursing with Mom, then he goes down.
Avatar f tn If it's the acid reflux that's waking you up then the Zantac will help. So will elevating your head a little...
