Zantac for colic

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac for colic

zantac

1628088 tn?1299532090 Hi, my son is 1 month 1/2 old and suffers from reflux. His pediatrician put him on zantac about 2 weeks ago and now again 2 days ago. I'm not seeing much improvements since he is still spitting up and sometimes it just goes back down. I also feel that he has had colic, since he cries out of no where with such a great force. I was mostly breastfeeding and he was drinking formula (similac advance) as well but maybe just about 2 oz. every other feeding.
Avatar f tn I had preeclamsia at the end of my pregnancy, and was placed on a beta blocker (labelolol 200 mg bid). I also pumped, but after about 3 weeks, my supply died. Did the beta blocker have that effect on my milk or was it my diet? I also wondered if my taking prilosec had any effect on my son's acid reflux? Ok, so it was two questions. Any other advice about infant acid reflux are definitely appreciated!
94902 tn?1330479667 mine was July 19th. I feel like the colic fits have really stopped for the most part since I quit eating dairy, but he still does cry ALOT! It is such a different cry now than those hours apon hours of crying though. Now I am learning to figure out what the different cries mean. I think we have been in the same boat, so lets hope we now have "normal" babies LOL!

Avatar f tn when my daughter was doing that and hubby and I had switched bottles and tried gas medicine, it turned out that my daughter had acid reflux and was prescribed liquid zantac that worked wonders immediately. Definitely call the pediatrician. I hope baby feels better soon.
Avatar f tn My first son had it and while he was full term I was told Colic for over a month until I switched peds. The new doc put him on meds (Zantac) and changed his formula because he had a milk protien allergy on top of the reflux. It seems that may be the problem.
218701 tn?1248226255 Just took Cash for his 3 week check up and he is 10lbs 7 oz - big ole boy! We had tried the Zantac and it didn't work so we are trying Prevacid now for his reflux. He also has colic so we are having tons of fun! But those sweet moments are all worth it!
290867 tn?1333569278 Besides the Colic Calm, having him lay on left side when sleeping and keeping him upright almost hour after eating helped keep the formula. But mainly Colic Calm. He is now off the colic calm and I think he has out grown the Reflux issue. I did posting about Colic Calm think it's on page 2.
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
568875 tn?1424397205 he tries so hard formula comes out his nose and mouth (he still spits up now) the doc said he had reflux. so they put him on zantac. that seemed to work for a week maybe. and it went back to the screaming. so they doc changed his formula to enfamil gentle ease that made him worse (he was on that for 4 days) so she put him on nutramigen and changed the zantac to prevacid. hes been on the formula for 4 days and the prec for 2 days.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
Avatar f tn Doctors cannot explain colic, they cannot tell us worried and exhausted parents anything, except to just let our babies cry for hours a day and for months. The inability for ANY doctor to explain colic to me, has left me with a lot of distrust. And after 4 children, all who suffered from "colic" that distrust grew, and led me on a journey to help other parents be better advocates for their tiny bundles of joy.
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
906115 tn?1344200509 During the transition, there is a period where you continue the zantac while waiting for the prevacid to build up in the system. Then you wean off of zantac. We couldn't wean her off the zantac. On both, she was OK. As soon as we dropped the amount of zantac, there were horrible flair-ups. I cried along with the screaming baby. The pediatrician had never had a baby that didn't respond to the standard doses of these meds, so he referred us to a Gastro.
Avatar n tn My doctor is telling me to give my 7 year old Zantac for a kidney infection, but I can't find any information on whether or not this is a proper treatment- I just want to be sure??
338830 tn?1229999478 Hi everyone! How are you all doing? First of all I want to send baby dust to those who are TTC. Second of all, for those who are pregnant or who have little ones, I wish them the best and a Merry Christmas! Well, Jaylynn is doing awesome! She is 3 months and 3 weeks old and is 12 lbs 13 oz. She is getting sooo big! She is rolling over all the time now! She had absolute head control now! It is amazing how fast she is growing up! She was diagnosed about a month ago with GERD and Colic.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
2075737 tn?1379447682 s essentially probiotics for babies and every mommy I know who tried it for their colic ridden babes say it changed their life. I would very, very highly recommend it.
589762 tn?1330207135 We went to the dr yesterday for Noah's 2 month check up and he did great! He weighs 11lbs 1oz and is now 23 in long! What a big boy i have! Dr said he looks great! I did ask him about Noah's fussiness and the dr thinks it could be colic, so he gave me a new formula to try for colic babies! We will see how it works, it says fast relief should make colic symptoms a little better as fast as 24 hours for most babies! Hopefully my baby falls in the "most babies" catergory lol!
Avatar f tn Like I said I sent the web link for Colic Calm to our ped. and had him check it out before I gave it to my son. He said it was good to go.
1222635 tn?1366396286 Oh my, I so feel for you! My little girl had reflux, started at 2 weeks old. That lead to colic at around 3 months until around 7 months (screaming straight from 1PM-4/5PM everyday). I was miserable! It was hard on her, hard on me and my husband and I fought all the time. I was nursing so I was constantly feeding, cleaning up puke, and feeding again. I also had a toddler at the time. Ahhh, I am reliving it right now in my head it was horrible!!!! My advise...
761653 tn?1266271699 Im not sure what they gave me for colic 14 years ago but you can go by some gas drops for the baby and see if that helps, it starts with a m, cant remember what it is called, at least you could give it to him today and see if it helps and you can let the dr no 2mrw how it worked. Also ive read when babies cry and cant be soothed they are in some type of pain they just cant tell us. I hope Owen gets better, what formula are you using?
Avatar f tn My sister in law had horrible colic yet her baby was so mild and hardly cried. I also had colic, and my son had colic, but for different reasons. For me I believe it was reflex, yet my son it was dairy.
