Avatar n tn my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..

11278126 tn?1419304633 Tums or Zantac. I exceeded the daily dosage on Tums so my doctor told me to take Zantac Maximum Strenghth.
7349088 tn?1390657733 I take Zantac 150 once a day as prescribed by my Dr. I've had terrible acid reflux and it seems to be helpful. It's safe ..my neighbor gives her 4 month old baby zantac for silent reflux as prescribed by her pediatrician.
1330108 tn?1333677304 I had her at the dr she is gaining weight we got the spitting up under control by slowing her feedings and sitting her upright for 20min after meals. She was still pulling her legs up to her chest often and seemed uncomfortable so I talked to the nurse at the ped today and they said it's safe to try infant gas drops. So we have done that and yay it helps. We also have her bassinet propped Approx 30 degree so she isn't flat on her back.
Avatar f tn my 11 yr old son has been feeling sick and bein sick after meals for the last two weeks,my doctor put him on zantac twice a day for a week.the zantac is not doing any good, few days ago my doctor sent him for blood tests which came back to day clear.i m still giving him the zantac half hour befor breakfast and tea i dont know what to do next.
1222635 tn?1366396286 we have increased her dosage of zantac. she is now on 1.5 mL morning and evening. part of the reason i think she is getting hungry early is because she's spitting up an uncanny amount. it at least LOOKS to be half of what she eats. i mentioned this to the doctor and he wasn't concerned. i guess my question is this: should i continue with the formula during the day and just feed her every 3 hours, despite the doctor's orders to continue feeding at 4 hours?
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I keep thinking I need my dosage raised but no one will listen to me. Am I thinking the right way or not? Help! Need your advise.
Avatar n tn t further adjusted by weight, but by lab vales and, most of all, symptoms. Or I should say, it should be adjusted by FT3, FT4 levals and symptoms.
Avatar n tn Our Ped GI stated that liquid Zantac is hard to correctly dose since it is given by weight and since babies are constantly growing, your little one may have outgrown his dose already. It can take as little as 2 weeks to outgrow Zantac dosage. This also might cause the constant waking. If your son is on solids it's very easy to use solutabs or capsules, just disolve solutab in food, or break capsule and pour contents into food.
Avatar m tn Just a thought, have you moved recently? Mold in your house/apartment could be causing your cough. It's the right time of year for it to become rampant and it can grow in places you can't see like under the carpet near doors/windows, behind the washing machine, under the sink, etc. Anywhere that moisture collects. It's worth checking out anyway.
Avatar f tn if he starts to get worse, be sure to contact the dr to get his dosage changed. my little one gained so much weight so quickly, we had to change her dose after just 3 weeks. She gained 2 lbs in that time, and when we recalculated her dose based on her new weight it was actually double the original dose. I was surprised, but as my dh pointed out, it was a 20% change in weight. by the way, my LC said colic and reflux often go hand in hand.
Avatar f tn had thyroid checked becuz I nhad went into ER due to side effects from Nexium...... Made me feel even worse anxiety, etc. I am currently on Carafate and Zantac (which I think may be making me feel kinda bad too). I have gastritis and acid reflux. Here is my current lab for thyroid (total thyroidectomy 5yrs ago) TSH 0.14. (0.27-4.20) FREE T4. 1.45 (0.93-1.70) Lab a couple of months ago TSH 0.22 FREE T4 1.36 I'm currently on .75 levo and Dr. just lowered it to 50.
Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.
484160 tn?1343397921 After 2 months of this, we were so frustrated I started researching everything I could find on gastroparesis. I stumbled across a blog written by the wife of a gastroparesis patient. Their story was eerily similar to my sister's. After month upon month of frustration, the wife goes and buys hubby some extra strength Zantac and within three hours he was wanting a cheeseburger. When the doctors came in that afternoon I asked them to give it a try.

3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.

Avatar n tn I started taking Zantac 150 and it seemed okay but I started have occasional nausea and sharp pains in the stomach area. My Internal Medicine doctor advised the ulcer is being aggravated by the acid which is causing nausea and pain, the Zantac was not strong enough. She prescribed Protonix 40mg twice a day, I have been on that and feel great; no fatigue, no nausea, no pain!

Avatar m tn By taking a medication off prescription and making it OTC the NHS saves money and the pharmaceutical company make more money because presumably more people will by it when they don't need a prescription. The reason you think Rannitidine is less effective is because the placebo effect has been removed. In fact both drugs are equally effective. Otherwise the generic version would not have been licenced.
