Avatar f tn Hi, have you ever tried Zantac? Take the Zantac 150 (or two 75's) in the morning and before dinner at night, or before bed, whichever you prefer. I have had heartburn forever and I tried the prescription meds, but I feel the Zantac works the best. But 75 is not enough, make sure you take 150 mg. twice a day. Also, you can supplement it with Mylanta or Maalox liquid if it's really bad. I'm not saying this will be a miracle cure, but it's worth a try.
Avatar f tn I'm 23 weeks and recently started getting heartburn. I never had it before I got pregnant. Whole milk works for me. I don't have tums. Mylanta and rolaids are safe for pregnancy. Maybe those will work for you.
Avatar f tn Elevate your head while you sleep and drink mylanta. Both that and tums are safe during pregnancy but tums don't work as well.

Avatar f tn Mylanta is safe. They have it to me at the hospital one night. Just follow the directions on the bottle. It tastes nasty, but works so well. You could also try plain vanilla or chocolate ice cream or some milk. Dairy neutralizes the acid naturally. That's what I do when I run out of tums in the middle if the night.

Avatar n tn Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
