Avatar f tn I’d run for 1 minute, then walk, then run again for 2 minutes, then walk again, and so on and so forth until I was able to run one hour (5 miles) nonstop. I’d set goals for the day. For example, I’d say ‘Today, I will run 5 minutes nonstop at least once in a one hour period, then try to run 3 minutes intermittently within that hour for a total of maybe 15 minutes. I’d get so thirsty at first, but then I guess my body got used to running 5 days a week.
Avatar n tn Before I got pregnant, I jogged 4 times a week for 4-6 miles. I want to stay active as possible during my pregnancy. I am only 4 weeks along and I have been walking/light jogging for about 4 miles 4 times a week. I would like to know what kind of running adjustments you had to make as you progressed in pregnancy. And what your doctors have told you.
Avatar f tn I had noticed that too, when im active for more than an hour like just cleaning my house doing laundry or going up and down stairs. It gets weird like hard, I started feeling that at 17 weeks, im now 19wks.
384896 tn?1335294331 Well some of you may know, this Thursday I will officially be in the last month of my 2nd trimester, and I was wondering what some of you ladies out there would suggest for excersizing during the rest of my pregnancy. It's hot, so I've been swimming alot. ATLEAST for a few hours every day. Today, I was in there with my fiance for I can't tell you HOW long. lol. I'm a burnt lobster even though I put on sun screen- but that's not the point here.
973741 tn?1342342773 I used to do yoga every day and loved it. There are a variety of different types of yoga - some more active than others, so you can actually work up a sweat if that's your goal. There's yoga for every age and level of activity, ranging from weight loss to chair yoga for seniors or disabled.
8411000 tn?1464556711 s World has quite a number of previous articles about Lyme disease, too, so that runners are advised of what to look for. That is excellent, that the magazine is looking out for runners, readers, and also the rest of us who just meander. I hadn't known of this resource before. Thanks again!
Avatar f tn Below is my brief comments for pregnancy and runners. The most important thing you need to consider is your heat index. All too often mothers-to-be focus more on their heart rate rather than the inner core temperature. Because you are, presumably, in shape, your heart rate is less important than the risk of overheating. Remember that your fetus has no way of sweating and can overheat. The chances of you overheating in this manner, however, are slim as you are: 1. in shape 2.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Student Industrial Team and I have come up with a device that relieves knee pain for those with runner's knee and the elderly as well. It utilizes pressure plates on the sides of the knee that help to stabilize and decrease the pain. What's your take?
Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.
Avatar f tn I do some yoga. I tend not to do an entire program but I do use some poses and occasionally pop on my prenatal yoga CD for a bit. I enjoy cat/cow and tree pose and downward facing dog and child's pose a lot. Hip rolls and torso twists. Also do some modified planks now. I really fell off of my exercise regimen after getting pregnant but I do try to at least stretch every day, do a touch of yoga, and do some leg and arm lifts and curls with light weights.
Avatar f tn Omg it's a life saver. I've been doing yoga for years & it's so good for your body but most importantly your mental state. I'm only 9 weeks but plan to keep practicing throughout my pregnancy. Just tell the teacher you are pregnant if its not obvious & they will give you options if there is anything you should avoid. Stick with it you won't regret it.
Avatar f tn Is beginner yoga safe while pregnant? Or would I have to do yoga for pregnant women?
Avatar f tn for all you guys that do yoga does your doctor recommend it or do you find it and do it on your own were would I look

Avatar n tn I am a 16 year old female I'm 5'10" and roughly 190 lbs. I'm in a swimming camp through my school so we are swimming laps in the pool for two hours and then for another 45 minutes we either do yoga, Pilates or circuit training. I'm looking to lose weight and increase my endurance for the swim team season but I just still don't know if it's healthy.
15695260 tn?1549593113 I recommend it for serious runners. But I do have to say, if you run, when you get old, you will have a big chance of paying the price. You gotta love it so it's worth it. All the best.
Avatar f tn I teach or train a martial art five times a week, have for 10 years, and I did get back on the same schedule but not for ages. I also love step (25 year veteran) and yoga and the occassional other activity such as walking. I had my cervix removed, because my doctor recommended it. No more paps (although he does do a vaginal swab once a year, the dear, just to be careful) and I just thought it was creepy to have it left in anyway.
738075 tn?1330575844 I find it easier to ride than walk, stand, or do Yoga right now. I went ahead and rode yesterday, and felt no more exhausted or weak than usual. Climbing the stairs in my house feels like riding my bike 20 miles (my usual flat ride). Basically I'm whipped no matter what I do, even riding my bike - tried dancing at the Halloween party last night...forget it! I sat for the rest of the night.
730826 tn?1317943334 Then when I washed and dried them they shrunk and fell apart. I JUST got my new runners broken in, went to mow the law, wearing my steal toed shoes this time. When I came in from mowing the lawn, I found that my puppy decided to chew my runners. She never has chewed shoes before. Its just my luck. Hopefully they are still wearable as she just chewed the heal.
Avatar n tn s neurologist said aerobic exercise is better than yoga for tension headaches. But my daughter never feels well enough for aerobic exercise.
